College Leadership Sets Example for Students....Geeeesh

Is math taught at ETSU?

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The cost to bring Carrie Underwood to East Tennessee State University worked out to an eye-popping $41,077 per song, or $7,120 a minute for the time she played.

But the $534,000 price tag raised nary an administrator’s eyebrow until April – weeks after the country starlet and klieg lights had come and gone – when officials realized they had overdrawn their concert fund account by $209,000.(LINK)

As Jerry would say...For the love of God.

What is up with Emmett Hanger?

A few weeks ago the AFP had this.

The points being thrown back and forth could all be moot. Hanger told the AFP this afternoon that he has talked with senior RPV officials, and it is his understanding that the state party is only concerned with the fact that the mass meeting ended without the local party having named delegates to the Sixth District and state GOP conventions.

“The election of a new chair was completely legal. I expect that if there is an appeal that it will be dealt with appropriately,” Hanger said.

The RPV ruled Kurt Michael is rightfully the duly-elected Chairman of Augusta County and Larry Roller is not. If you read what Emmett said then and what is now the facts of the case...one can only wonder about his honesty. Personally, I think he is full of more shit than a Christmas goose. Now we have Larry Roller showing his ass also. Alex has that covered in a two part post. Check out Larry Roller: The Lies of An Illegal Chair? Part 1 and Larry Roller: The Lies of An Illegal Chair? Part 2. I am still amazed at this. The Philbilly has his opinions also. Check out Still no Breather in Augusta........... and Appeal in Augusta and Newleader Editorial Page, Roller's view. The Philbilly has the juice on this story.

It makes me sick to see a big (R) after the name Emmett Hanger. Just like Roscoe Reynolds and so many others. They need to go the way of Bell, Potts, and Chichester....just go away. I hear Obama is looking for a few good men....

Bob Marshall's Record Exposed - Taxes, Sierra Club, Anti Gun...

Spank That Donkey has the scoop. The record shows "Marshall Was For Unelected Taxing Bodies, Before He was Against Them?" Take time to read the facts about his record and his vote on HB 1474 Regional Economic Development Authority in 2000 and how Jim Gilmore vetoed the bill.

Marshall's ties to the Sierra Club kills his chances in the Coalfields. Via a comment on STD, we also see Marshall sponsored some anti gun legislation in 2000 also.

January 27, 2000

Dear Del. Bob Marshall

The Virginia Citizens Defense League is the largest grassroots gun-rights group in the Commonwealth. We led the effort to reform Virginia's Concealed Carry law and we have continued to lead the fight for gun-rights in Virginia.

Your bills, HB 350 ( http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?001+ful+HB350 )
and HB 351 ( http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?001+ful+HB351
), would clearly infringe upon the right to bear arms. In Virginia it is legal to carry a firearm or knife in an open manner. Why do you want to make it a crime to do so on taxpayer property? Whether your bill would exempt Concealed Carry Permit holders is a matter of legal interpretation. You can bet that anti-gun localities such as Alexandria and Fairfax would use your law to harass law-abiding gun-owners.

Del. Marshall - your bills do not "mirror Project EXILE". Project EXILE was targeted at convicted felons. Your bill will create felons out of otherwise law-abiding folks!

Del. Marshall - on behalf of gun owners across Virginia I ask you to withdraw these dangerous gun control bills! I am sure you will hear from other concerned citizens, please listen to us!

Sincerely,

Paul W. Moog, Jr. President Virginia Citizens Defense League

Bye Bob.

Rep Bobby Scott(D) Hates Christmas

H/T - From on High

Booby Bobby Scott voted no on a bill  H. Res. 847- "Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith."

The nine Members voting NO were Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY), Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) (FL), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA), Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA), Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA), and Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA). None of the nine voted against resolutions honoring the Islamic holiday of Ramadan and the Hindu holiday of Diwali. Michelle Malkin

That's right folks. Old Booby Bobby and his Democratic brethren vote yes to recognize  Islamic holiday of Ramadan and the Hindu holiday of Diwali and vote NO on Christmas. Well I have a lump of coal for them.

You can read Boobies bull shit answer on his website. It is very easy to tell this jackass what you think about his vote to glorify Islam while ignoring Christianity is wrong. Click here and send him a message or use the info below.

Phony Soldiers and a Phony Smear

The Democrats are so desperate for revenge over being called out for the Move On General Betrayus ad, they are trying to manufacture a smear. They have taken issue with Rush Limbaugh and his statement about "phony soldiers." Sorry my liberal friends but no one is buying it. The argument is ridiculous and totally out of context. If you read or watch what Rush actually said, one can ask why are the Democrats lying about this? And let us never forget these words:

“We bought it, we own it, and we’re going to take it back.” Those are the now infamous words spoken by MoveOn.org founder Eli Pariser when speaking about the Democrat Party after the 2004 elections(LINK)

Two Conservatives points out - "Before Rush Limbaugh was falsely accused of smearing "phony soldiers", ABC News ran a news story on their nightly news show, titled "Phony War Vets" Yes there is video.

Check out Just who is the “Phony Soldier” that the Dems are defending? and Rush Limbaugh Under Assault. Also look at Rush is Right!!! He IS a phony soldier…

I agree with Badrose - I’ll Salute my General Electric Hot Water Heater.

The democrats are looking foolish over this.

Ward at The Ward View writes Rush to Reid: Say It To My Face, Senator.

Murtha must testify!

WASHINGTON - A federal judge refused Friday to dismiss a defamation case against Rep. John P. Murtha and ordered the Pennsylvania Democrat to give a sworn deposition about his comments alleging "cold-blooded murder and war crimes" by unnamed soldiers in connection with Iraqi civilian deaths. A Marine Corps sergeant is suing the 18-term congressman for making the charge, which the soldier claims is false. Murtha, who opposes the Iraq war, made the comment during a May, 2006 Capitol Hill news conference in which he predicted that a Pentagon war crimes investigation will show Marines killed dozens of innocent Iraqi civilians in Haditha in 2005. (LINK)

That's right! Fast to judge our Marines, and slow to apologize. Hot Air has more.

Alabama Professor compares Raising Kaine to "graffiti off the underside of an underpass"

No surprise there! Read here. Lowell's silkies are in a bunch

In an interview, Hugo defended the ad and said he will not pull it. He said the posting on Raising Kaine was not anonymous because it is widely known that "Pitin" is a Democratic activist who supported Simmons's opponent, Morris Meyer, in the Democratic primary.

"It is not anonymous to me," Hugo said. "A lot of Democrats have said that Rex Simmons runs an appalling, negative campaign."

Hugo said the ad is designed to counter mailers Simmons sent out criticizing his vote in favor of the transportation bill that included higher fees on bad drivers. Many Democratic challengers are using that vote against their GOP opponents. Republicans are trying to paint Democrats as soft on illegal immigration.

"He has done nothing but drop negative mail because he wants to hide from what his real positions are on illegal immigration," Hugo said.

Simmons said Hugo "is attacking me out of the gate because he has no positive issues to run on." Simmons said Hugo has reserved more than $150,000 worth of airtime on cable to run the ad.

"This sort of negative campaigning has been rejected in the past, and I believe voters in Virginia will do so again," said Simmons, who said it's not true that he supports amnesty for illegal immigrants.

The man Hugo identified as Pitin -- Nate de la Piedra, executive director of Next Generation Democrats -- did not return several telephone messages Friday seeking comment. Feld declined to confirm Pitin's identity, but other sources familiar with the Web site confirmed Pitin is de la Piedra.

Accountability for your words sucks, huh guys?

Ben Tribbett Smacked Down !

Badrose has Chip Hairston’s Response to Ben. One has to ask why Ben accuses African Americans of being racist? (A pattern is developing) He has pulled this twice in the last couple months and both times he has been made to look like a fool.

The Truth about Jim Webb's Deployment Amendment

Frederick W. Kagan takes a look at the Webb Amendment. Webb loves to talk about quagmires....Well his amendment is a quagmire.

"Senator Webb claims to be concerned for the welfare of the troops, and no doubt he is. But one can also be concerned about the dangers our soldiers face when they do not have the necessary resources and reinforcements available. If American commanders are constrained to have only those “units and members” of the services in theater who have spent the requisite time at home, then a time will almost certainly come when they do not have the forces they need to accomplish their missions. If they can only request additional such forces in response to an operational emergency, then we should consider what that means on the ground. It means that the first thing that happens is that American soldiers may die who did not need to. Then the commanders will rush a request for additional forces up their chain of command. The president will certify to Congress that an emergency exists — and American soldiers and Marines will be fighting without necessary reinforcements as that happens. Then a unit will have to be hastily readied for premature deployment, sent to theater, moved into position, and finally arrive, certainly weeks and possibly months after the initial request. And all the time, American soldiers and Marines will have been fighting and dying. How is that taking care of them?"

Webb cares more about politicizing this war than helping the troops. What he tries to disguise a a amendment to help the troops actually ties the hands of the military and as Kagan points out could cost lives. Webb knows this and he does not care. Just like he knows that reinforcements were needed in Anbar, but he let party politics make him look foolish.

Jim Webb has traded the proud words of Born Fighting for MoveOn.org. I am not surprised.

Jim Webb's Betrayal

My friends SWAC Girl and Scott have issues with Jim Webb's silence over the treasonous attack by Move On .org on General Petraeus. When the Senate Democrats were asked to condemn this attack, they refused.

SWAC Girl writes "Not a peep from a fellow military man. Not a peep from someone who should know better."

Scott writes "And what does Jim Webb do? The exact same thing he did when one of his employees got caught carrying one of his firearms. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING."

Jim Webb let people down on both sides this week. He abandoned a fellow veteran and people will remember. The troops and their families will remember. This week the Democrats in the Senate let country know that they are owned by Move on dot org. To hell with ethics and honor, they squatted to the Move On group. Disgusting.

"We bought it. We own it. And we're going to take it back." That's Eli Pariser, founder of MoveOn.org talking about the Democrat Party.

Dynamic Duo of Roscoe Abuser Fee Reynolds and Mark Tax Increase Warner

Glossary-DUOFUS-="A Double Doofus"

Without further ado, I bring you the Dynamic Duo of Roscoe Abuser Fee Reynolds and Mark Tax Increase Warner.

That's right...Watch it again! The duofus on the left does not have a clue as to his own sponsored legislation or how he voted. The duofus on the right was responsible for the largest tax increase in state history and then misplacing the money. What a pair!

This week’s ‘Alpha Jackass’ awards

“The violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from al-Qa’ida said to these tribes, ‘We have to fight al-Qa’ida ourselves.’ It wasn’t that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here.” —Sen. Chuck al-Schumer

“It’s sad to say, but the American Army has presided over the largest ethnic cleansing in the world since the Balkans. When people say bad things are going to happen if we leave, bad things have already happened. Where were you for the last four years?” —Fareed Zakaria, Editor of Newsweek International, who wrote the piece “We’re losing... back in January

Are Ben & Joey Trying to Bully The New Dominion?

Chris Graham is the executive editor of The New Dominion. Last week he published this article-Prank - or dirty trick? I blogged about it here.

Now he has published this article saying he was contacted by Joey Stanley and Ben Tribbett. I hope you read it.

“Finally, I am planning to seek comments from statewide Democratic candidates on whether they would ever feel comfortable talking to you again,” Tribbett wrote.

Interesting. Is Ben trying to flex his muscle? If he is looking for a credibility contest with Mr Graham he is outmatched. Credibility is not measured by blog hits Ben.

Ben Tribbett - A soon forgotten blogger

The fall of Ben and his blog NLS is happening before our eyes. He has called a African American blogger a racist. Kat has the lead on that story. He is flipping and flopping on why he likes or dislikes NAMBLA. Scott has that covered. Bipolar maybe? He is threatening a commenter here. What is next? What will Chap Peterson and Roscoe think about all of this. Will Joey Stanley and Lowell come to his rescue...Stay tuned.

Kestrel9000 - Eddie Garcia

The New Dominion profiles Eddie Garcia. The self described "pit bull" who up until this point has blogged anonymously under the name Kestral9000 on Kos and Colbalt6. He is a DJ at WBOP FM. (Pics at that link)

Now at the Podium also takes a look at Eddie Garcia. The post is titled "Defecating Where They Eat-Some people have no problem with doing exactly that." I think Eddie is one of those people. This guy is full of hate as the article points out. I do feel sorry for the Valley residents, but I am also glad he is there and not here in the coalfields.

DefCon 15 - Dateline NBC Reporter Gets Nailed!

For those who don't know, DefCon is a hackers convention and online community. I have a friend who attends every year. Think of a room full of the best computer gurus and security experts...Do you think it would be easy to conceal your identity? Would you even try? Dateline NBC did and got nailed.

Undercover reporter Michelle Madigan (Associate Producer of NBC Dateline) got a little more than she bargained for when she tried to sneak in to DEFCON 2007 with hidden cameras to get someone to confess to a felony. When DEFCON staff announced the “spot the undercover reporter” game and told the audience that an undercover reporter was taking video to catch someone confessing to a hacking crime, Madigan bolted from the conference premises followed by a pack of ~150 DEFCON attendees and reporters trying to photograph and video tape her. DEFCON officials never got the chance to bring Madigan on stage to offer her a press badge so that she could cover the rest of the event above board.(LINK TO STORY AND VIDEO)

Hey...Don't mess with those hackers.

The Republican YouTube Debate - No Thank You

I will say the recent YouTube debate with the democratic candidates was not what I had hoped it would be. I naively expected straight forward questions from real people, not silly video productions. I do not want to be entertained by debates, I want to be informed. While some praised the format, I found it silly and beneath what the purpose of what Presidential debates are for. I know that my opinion means little, but I was embarrassed to watch the brave candidates stand on stage and deal with the foolishness presented to them. Make no mistake, any candidate, republican or democrat that is running is a brave American. The silliness of the debate was no fault of the candidates, blame CNN and YouTube.

The Republican version is scheduled for September 17th. As of now only two candidates have committed, John McCain of Arizona and congressman Ron Paul of Texas. After watching the first debate can you really blame the others for not showing interest in format? I cant.

Kathleen Parker has wonderful column here about the debate. She writes

The recent YouTube presidential debate -- the oxymoronic event of history's longest political season -- has been dubbed "groundbreaking" and "historic."

Let's also add "ridiculous."

Not that the concerns of snowmen aren't perfectly valid, of course. One of the questions posed during the CNN-sponsored "debate" came from a talking snowman who cited global warming as the most important issue for snowmen.

"What will you do to ensure that my son will live a full and happy life?" he asked the Democratic candidates.

And not that it isn't important to know what each candidate likes and dislikes about the other. In another taped question culled from about 3,000 submitted for consideration, each candidate was asked to turn to his or her left and say what he or she likes and doesn't like about that person.

Brilliant. If you're 5. (READ IT ALL)

Indeed. We should also note the so called historic debate drew 6% less viewers that the previous debate and failed to garner much improvement for the desired younger audience. Lets hope CNN learned something from those ratings.

I will not blame candidates for not participating in this foolishness. Maybe I am just getting old and cranky but I want a question asked and equal time given to all to respond. No entertainment, just information please. I guess that is asking too much.
