Sen Roscoe Reynolds and Joe Stanley - No Comment!

Chris Graham is the Executive Editor of The New Dominion and writes for The Augusta Free Press. His top story this week is titled Prank or dirty trick? He addresses the ODBA- Joe Stanley, Roscoe Reynolds issue. Read it here. Chris had contacted the Roscoe campaign about this and he has yet to receive a reply, Silence. As quite as a yellow dog logo disappearing from his website.

He also contacted Joe Stanley.

I attempted to make contact with Stanley in connection with this story. Stanley replied to an e-mail with an indication that he would agree to an interview, but did not reply to a followup e-mail from me or return a message left at a contact phone number listed on the website of his political-consulting firm, Yellow Dog Strategy, which was answered by someone in the Eric Ferguson for Delegate campaign office.

A subsequent check of the phone numbers for the firm and the campaign showed them to be one and the same.

Yellow Dog's headquarters is at Eric Ferguson's campaign office? They share the same phone? SWAC Girl also found that interesting. Scott is wondering if Roscoe is going to move his campaign in with Yellow Dog. Could the three of them share a phone?

Stanley was a no show for the interview and did not even send a statement. Roscoe & Co. were contacted also. No Comment.

Roscoe Reynolds, Eric Ferguson, Adam Tomer, and The DPVA starring in The Silence of the Libs

It's Friday! Time for the Whine and Cheese.

Roscoe Reynolds - Joe Stanley - Adam Tomer

Cathouse Chat says Roscoe says one thing, and does another. Swac Girl is also questioning Roscoe on immigration. Scott wants  to know what is the relationship between Franklin County Democratic Committee Chairman Joe Stanley and the Senator.

I am still wondering why Roscoe and Adam Tomer have removed the Yellow Dog  logo from their websites? What are they hiding? They remove the logo, yet the invisible link remains. That is interesting....why would they, or Joe, since he designed the sites, remove his logo and leave the link? The story grows and the left is silent.

Rep. Tom Davis visits Wise

Rep Tom Davis was in my hometown of Wise yesterday. He carried a positive message while he tests the waters for a run at the Senate if Sen John Warner retires.

"We’re going around the state, on the contingency that John Warner doesn’t run, to try to find out what the party is looking for," Davis said, during a meeting with the Bristol Herald Courier’s editorial board.(LINK)

A opinion piece in the BHC concludes with this

Virginia could do far worse than Davis. No matter his political future, his calls for a decrease in the partisan bickering in Washington and a results-oriented approach to government should be heeded.(LINK)

Indeed. Thank you Congressman for stopping in Wise and sharing your vision with us.

Franklin County Democratic Committee Chairman Joe Stanley Speaks Out

Franklin County Democratic Committee Chairman Joe Stanley owns Yellow Dog Strategy. Stanley is tied to Sen Roscoe Reynolds, Eric Ferguson, and Adam Tomer. Joe recently used the good name of The Old Dominion Blog Alliance. He bought the domain name and then maliciously linked it to a site that promotes illegal behavior. I wont link to the site here, but it promotes pedophilia. The elected Democratic official spoke out yesterday about his actions. You can read that in its entirety at Mr Young's blog - The SkepticalObservor.  Mr Young writes-

"It seems that Stanley has now published a commentary on Ben Tribbett's website about his behavior. Since it is so hideously idiotic, and may soon disappear, I reproduce it in full below. Stanley's diatribe is little more than McCarthyism, since it attacks the entirety of the ODBA --- including those, like me, who until a few days ago wouldn't have known him if we tripped over him --- as an organization akin to group advocating the raping of little boys."

I think that sums this up part of this situation pretty darn good. The real kicker about this Stanley tirade that any first grader can see is the timeline does not match Joey's false reality. The Ward View has that covered in detail here. It is no problem to read the timeline and see that Joey is in  full tilt spin mode. The Franklin County Democratic Committee Chairman writes about his linking to NAMBLA -

"This was not a joke, a prank, or any other kind of political horseplay. I meant the comparison."

Ok Joey, you meant it. Did your clients Sen Roscoe Reynolds, Eric Ferguson, and Adam Tomer mean it also? Do they believe the ODBA compares to NAMBLA? What about the Democratic Party you represent? You are not just the Elected Franklin County Democratic Committee Chairman sometimes. You carry that responsibility 24/365. That is why your spin machine is on. You are a victim Joey, a victim of your own vile actions.

Duncan Hunter on Katrina

Duncan Hunter speaks at the Hope and Recovery Summit.

Two years ago, when I entered New Orleans with Rescue Task Force, the onslaught of flood and destruction dominated this great cit With Andrea Becks, former NFL cornerback Scott Turner, Yuma Mayor Larry Nelson and businessman Roy Tyler, we brought food, water and 1,000 beds to the folks who were in the city and the refugee centers.

With the aid of an airboat driver who could do everything but fly, we were privileged to be a small part of the rescue effort. In those days the headline stories were all about the failure of government – the bureaucracy of FEMA, the difficulty in handling the looting and the snafus of evacuation.

But I saw a different story. It was the story of the great National Guard troops who we found holding the city together, the law enforcement personnel, and the fireman and rescue workers from all over the United States who interrupted their lives to rush to help the people of New Orleans. It was the huge team of volunteers I saw at Houma who were operating the rescue center to clothe, feed and care for people. It was the huge room of clothes stacked so high, with a sign that said, “Please no more clothes are needed.”

Today, $116 billion has been appropriated to remedy the effects of Katrina. The rebuilding effort includes: $17 billion for housing and community development; $8.4 billion for levees and flood control; $10 billion for Small Business Administration loans; and, $3.5 billion for highways and bridges.

But more important than the government programs is the way the citizens of our nation shape and are shaped by this massive hurricane disaster and its aftermath. There are those who portray the people of New Orleans as permanent victims, to whom government owes lifetime entitlements. They view every aspect of Katrina as somehow a reflection of the need for bigger, stronger government, almost to the point to where one wonders if they won’t assign political blame for the winds and waters of the hurricane itself.

I don’t see it that way. I see a great future for New Orleans, based not on what government does for people but because of what free people do for themselves. For every cynic who sees only government as the answer I see people as the answer.

I see optimistic professionals and business people coming to New Orleans to meet the challenge and the opportunity now presented by the rebuilding.

I see young people who might have fallen into a hopeless cycle of dependency on government welfare, now finding fulfillment in the hard work of rebuilding New Orleans.

I see top notch school administrators and educators picking up the challenge of Americans in New Orleans, who have new education dreams for their children, 57% of who attend charter schools.

I see rising from the destruction of Katrina, a new and profound appreciation for freedom. The real story of Katrina and New Orleans is not the inefficiency of government. That is a truth we have always known. The real story of New Orleans and Katrina is the millions of Americans who responded from their hearts, for their fellow citizens who live in this city.

From the senior citizens who gave a part of their fixed income, to the school children who assembled food packages, to the doctors and nurses who volunteered, to the fellow citizens of this state who donated mountains of clothes and food — every nation of the world has a government that responds to its disasters, but no nation has as many citizens willing to share what they have with their fellow man as this blessed land called America.

In 1812, Andrew Jackson and his frontier militia blocked a small passageway of land between an enemy army and this great city. American determination carried that day and New Orleans survived. Since that day, more than 800,000 Americans have given their lives on battlefields around the world so that we may walk, worship and work in freedom.

We succeeded in protecting our nation because we had faith in God and confidence in the goodness of the American people. If we here in New Orleans ask the question, where is the success of our future; is it in government? The answer is and has always has been; no. The success of our future, my friends, is within us, individual people.

It is within our character, the American character of faith in God, of honesty, of hard work, the willingness to take risks, individual accountability and a heart for our fellow citizens.

New Orleans, based on these values, will stand, always.

A great man with a great vision for America.

Duncan Hunter responds to comments by Senator John Warner

Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter responds to comments by Senator John Warner

August 27, 2007

Fort Worth, TX-GOP presidential contender Duncan Hunter responded sharply to comments offered by Senator John Warner, former Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman.  Last week Warner urged the beginning of a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, saying President Bush should put "decisive pressure'' on Iraqi leaders to let them know "we're not going to be there forever,'' said Warner on NBC's "Meet the Press".  Senator Warner's suggested bringing some 5,000 troops by the end of the year.

Upon learning of Sen. Warner's comments in the nation's capital, Hunter quickly responded, "Our service men and women stand right now, as we speak, in harm's way, ready to sacrifice everything for our nation's defense and for the freedom of the Iraqi people.  Just when we are beginning to see real progress under the capable General Petraeus, Senator Warner, whom I respect, undermines their efforts by tucking tail.  He continued, "As President I WILL NOT cower under pressure from politicians, media, or the international community.  This nation is great because it is just and free.  We absolutely cannot back down in defending that freedom.  I am very disappointed in Sen. Warner tonight, and I trust his comments will fall on deaf ears."

Ironically, while Warner addressed the Washington press corps on his call for withdrawal, Hunter fielded questions from a packed house of Arlington, Texas, Republicans.  Asked how do we get out of Iraq, Hunter explained the second phase of the American blueprint for expanding freedom was well underway.  "A government, elected by its people, has been stood up.  The U.S. military is now in the process of standing up an Iraqi military capable of protecting the government,"

Hunter explained that most of the 129 Iraqi battalions had not undertaken extensive combat operations and should be deployed for three to four months in contentious Iraq battle zones to demonstrate their combat effectiveness. Hunter added, "Once reliability is established in the Iraqi military, they will be capable of rotating into the battlefield throughout Iraq, displacing U.S. combat forces, that's how we leave Iraq, which will amount to an unprecedented success in the most difficult region of the new era,"

Hunter took a shot at the Democrats for what he called, "ignoring the U.S. military and shunning their accomplishments."  Hunter contends that while working on the war issues in both the house and senate, not one single Democrat commended the U.S. Marines Corps for the progress they are making in Iraq,

Congressman Hunter is the counterpart to Senator Warner, the senior Republican member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.  Hunter now the Ranking Republican Member of House Armed Services Committee was that committee's chairman for four years.

Hunter's message of a stronger national defense, enforceable borders, and fair trade with China are resonating with voters across the Texas.  His tour of the state has picked up critical momentum rolling up to the September 1st Texas GOP Straw Poll in Ft. Worth.  He explains his vision for the presidency simply, "I will have had an effective presidency if the American people are more independent of government than when I was elected."

Hunter will lead a salute to our troops on Friday, September 31st at the Fort Worth Convention Center.  The rally will meet at 4:00 pm in the water park area.

Following the conclusion of the Texas GOP Straw Poll Congressman Hunter will travel to Carson City, NV to help kickoff "Move America Forward's" patriotic, pro-troop "Fight for Victory Tour."  This great event for that takes place on Monday, September 3, 2007 at 9:00 am to share his vision for victory abroad and a stronger national defense.

Joey Stanley - Chairman of the Franklin County Democratic Committee

Joey Stanley represents the Democratic Party. He is chairman of the Franklin County Committee. With his history of deviant tactics we should ask other party officials if they and the Democratic party condone or are they involved with his and Ben Tribbetts recent actions. Joe Stanley makes no apologies for his antics. He brags about them here.

That leaves a lot of questions to answered. Was the Democratic Party of Virginia involved in this NAMBLA fiasco? Is Yellow Dog Strategy just a front for the party? This situation needs to be investigated and the Democratic Party needs to answer some questions.

Check out Scott's Morning Brew here and the letters here and here.

Click to Embiggen

As you can see from the screen shot above the Yellow Dog Strategy image has been removed from Roscoe's site. The link is still there if your courser over the spot. That is shown by the little yellow box in the picture above. What are you trying to hide Roscoe? Roscoe continues to link to Joey Stanley and Yellow Dog.
The ODBA has called on Roscoe to explain his relationship with Joey and if he condones the tactics Stanley has used to defame the group.

Scott has also written Roscoe a letter and has yet to receive a reply.

Live By “Macaca,” Die By “NAMBLA”

Top Virginia Democratic Strategist Linked To Pedophile Web Site

Richmond, Virginia. (August 25, 2007) – The Old Dominion Blog Alliance (“ODBA”), an organization of approximately 25 conservative Virginia bloggers founded on December 9, 2005, discovered on August 21 that someone registered the domain name of “olddominionblogalliance.com” on August 16 via GoDaddy.com’s Domains by Proxy service in order to conceal their identity. The domain was then set to forward to the web site for the North American Man-Boy Love Association ("NAMBLA"), an organization that promotes illegal activity between adults and children, including pedophilia.

Following this disclosure, the parties behind it were subsequently discovered to be Joe Stanley of Yellow Dog Strategy, a Democratic consultant who manufactured last year’s “macaca” gaffe by U.S. Sen. George Allen into an ex post facto racial slur and produced the controversial anti-Harris Miller mailing, and Ben Tribbett who runs the Northern Virginian blog “Not Larry Sabato.”

Evidence in hand and a confession by Mr. Stanley show that he was the one who purchased the domain name and then set it to forward to the NAMBLA web site. Mr. Tribbett, who is close to Mr. Stanley, proceeded to peddle the story to another blog and then feigned outrage at this action apparently in order to further raise the story’s visibility while maintaining deniability over it. Mr. Stanley undertook this action just two days after members of the ODBA began a concerted effort against state Sen. Roscoe Reynolds (D-20th Dist.), a candidate for whom Mr. Stanley has done work and who is locked in a tight reelection battle with Republican Jeff Evans. Sen. Reynolds advertises on “Not Larry Sabato.”

“Child sexual abuse is not a joke and certainly not a political tactic to be used in order to silence your political enemies,” said Kathryn Wilton of the blog CatHouse Chat, a member of the ODBA, the wife of a Navy veteran and mother. “Pedophilia is a morally repugnant behavior and how Mr. Stanley or Mr. Tribbett could think this is humorous or fair game politically is beyond my comprehension.”

“Senator Reynolds needs to go on the record whether or not he agrees with these abhorrent tactics used on his behalf,” added Greg Letiecq of Black Velvet Bruce Li, one of the most widely read blogs in Virginia. “Joe Stanley did this to benefit him. Reynolds must either expressly condone or renounce these tactics used for his gain.”

Members of the ODBA are currently considering whether to bring any civil legal claims stemming from this defamatory act perpetrated upon them. Should a case be brought and damages awarded, any proceeds will be donated to organizations that fight child abuse.

Sen Roscoe Reynolds on Immigration

Sen Roscoe has consistently voted to kill any type of legislation to stop or punish illegal immigrants.

HB 2322; Passed overwhelmingly in the House (92 to 5), killed in Senate with Roscoe voting to kill it.

Criminal procedure; admission to bail.  Adds a presumption, subject to rebuttal, against admitting to bail any person charged with a felony who is identified as being present in the United States illegally. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?071+sum+HB2322

HB 1618; Passed in the House after Democrats tried to spike it by passing it off to committee, killed in the Senate with Roscoe voting to kill it.

Immigration laws; Governor to enter into agreement with federal Immigration regarding. States that it is the responsibility of the Governor to enter into an agreement with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement that would allow the Department of State Police to enforce civil immigration laws. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?ses=071&typ=bil&val=hb1618

HB 2448; Passed overwhelmingly in the House (90 to 6), killed in Senate with Roscoe voting to kill it.

Verification of citizen status.  Requires that a jailer shall reasonably attempt to verify the citizen status of certain persons who are confined in jail and that the Department of Corrections shall issue guidelines for such verifications.  The bill also requires the Virginia State Bar to investigate the practice of providing legal advice to illegal immigrants and to establish related guidelines on unauthorized practice of law. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?ses=071&typ=bil&val=hb2448

Sen Roscoe helped kill the above legislation, yet he believes ILLEGAL immigrants should receive instate tuition.

Sign the Petition !

Please sign the petition that is going to ask the Governor to enroll in the Section 287(g) Program. This federal program would allow state police and correctional officers to be trained to act as ICE agents, and when a person is arrested for a felony or serious misdemeanor, these trained officers would be able to process the criminal for deportation if this person is an illegal alien. Right now, those criminal illegal aliens that get deported is entirely up to the whim of ICE, and as a result we have a significant number of convicted felons who are listed on the Virginia Sex Offender Registry at large in our communities who are illegal aliens.

Joey Stanley - Sen Roscoe Reynolds - Eric Ferguson

Joey Stanley of Yellow Dog Strategy has admitted to being behind the NAMBLA scandal. He shows no remorse in his confession here. Yellow Dog Joey is a Demcrat/sick consultant who gained fame as the Macaca man and the Harris Miller handbill that was thought by many people to be anti Semitic. His current ties are to Sen Roscoe Reynolds and 9th district candidate Eric Ferguson. Joey has performed about $7500.00 worth of consulting work for Ferguson. One has to wonder if NAMBLA was involved in this consulting work.

We have a paid democratic consultant using NAMBLA as a tool to defame a conservative group of bloggers who support his (Joey Stanley) candidates opponents. I wonder if Joey and his clients, Roscoe and Eric, discussed this tactic in advance? That could make sense because the Democratic party itself has set up TheyDontGetVA.com and issued this release. These are questions that need to be asked. Just how far will Democrats and their consultants go? We are definitely seeing a pattern here. You see to them NAMBLA is funny and this is acceptable political behavior.

Deo Vindice and The Ward View have called out Democrats to condemn this type of thing. It is not a surprise that they are silent.

A letter to President Bush from Duncan Hunter

August 21, 2007

President George W. Bush

The White House

Washington D.C. 20500

Dear Mr. President:

It is clear that we are falling behind in the construction of border security fencing as mandated by the Secure Fence Act (P.L. 109-367), which you signed into law on October 26, 2006. Unless construction is promptly accelerated, deadlines for the completion of fencing will not be met.

In addition to a completion date of May 30, 2008 for 392 miles of fencing extending from Calexico, California, to Douglas, Arizona, the Secure Fence Act mandates that 30 miles of fencing be completed in the Laredo, Texas, sector by December 31, 2008. Unfortunately, these scheduled mandates will be missed unless fence construction commences immediately in these locations.

It is my understanding that approximately $800 million is currently available for the installment of border infrastructure. Despite this funding, only 17.9 of the 854 miles of fencing called for in the Secure Fence Act have been completed as of August 10, 2007. This lack of progress is unacceptable, especially when adequate funding is available to earnestly proceed with fence construction.

My recommendation is that you immediately direct the Department of Homeland Security to execute contracts in such a way that all fencing locations identified in the Secure Fence Act are constructed concurrently. This will allow the construction of fencing to continue as necessary while ensuring specific fence construction deadlines are met.

Not only is our open and unprotected Southern land border a major exposure in the War on Terrorism, but large and increasing numbers of illegal aliens, as well as dangerous criminal populations, continue to move freely across the border. For the security of the United States and safety of our nation's citizens, I respectfully request that border fence construction be immediately accelerated.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in delivering this much needed element of security to our Southern land border.

Sincerely,

Duncan Hunter

Member of Congress

Chickenhawk - The Silent Left

In 2004 the left cried the Bush was a chickenhawk. With John Kerry they screamed military experience as an all important part of being President. The Jim Webb supporters slammed George Allen for his lack of service. Times have changed. Lets look at the military experience in this race.

Democrats

Delaware Sen. Joe Biden: None. Rejected for medical reasons, but would have been eligible in a national emergency.

New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton: None.

Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd: Army Reserve (1969-75).

Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards: None. Draft number was never called.

Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich: None. Was rejected for military service because of a heart murmur.

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama: None. Too young to have been drafted for the Vietnam War.

Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico: None. Received student and medical classifications. Draft number was never called.

Republicans

Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback: None. Came of age as draft was ending.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani: None. Received student and occupational deferments. Draft number was never called.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: None. Came of age as draft was ending.

California Rep. Duncan Hunter: Served as an Army paratrooper and Ranger in Vietnam (1969-71).

Arizona Sen. John McCain: Served in the Navy (1958-81); prisoner of war in Vietnam (1967-73).

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney: None. Received a deferment as a Mormon missionary in France. Was eligible for the draft upon his return to the states but was never selected.

Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo: None. Received student deferments. Was available for military service in 1969. Reclassified in 1970 because of stress-related anxiety and could have been called up only during a pressing national emergency.

Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson: None. Gained deferment because he had children.

Texas Representative Ron Paul: Served in the Army as a Flight Surgeon (1963-1965); Air National Guard (1965-1968) Never served in Vietnam, served in South Korea, Iran, Ethiopia and Turkey. (LINK)

There are only two men with combat experience, Duncan Hunter and John McCain. By the lefts own standards all of their candidates are chickenhawks. Funny how they ignore this fact. The military service was all important before, but not now. Typical.

Sell Six Pills and get 135 Years

A Dickenson County jury recommended a sentence of 135 years and a $600,000 fine on Thursday evening for a man they convicted of selling six prescription pills.

"This is the stiffest sentence I’ve heard of anywhere around," said Dickenson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Short. "I think the people of Southwest Virginia are sick and tired of drug addiction, and they’re looking for solutions."(LINK)

Looking for solutions indeed. I cant say this will help the drug problem here, but 22 and a half years per pill will get some attention.

A Ben Tribbett Whackjob.....Amazing Stuff

Last week Ben admitted reading private ODBA emails. He fabricated a huge story about that and in the end he looked foolish.

Daily Whackjobs contributor Meagan Rhodes (Whackette), is the wife of Myron Rhodes, who is a candidate for the clerk of Rockingham County Circuit Court, posts a domain name for the ODBA that will direct you to a site that promotes illegal activity. Not only does Mrs Rhodes state this, she directly links to the disgusting site using a ODBA banner. This site promotes pedophilia-Why would the wife of candidate Rhodes link to such a site you ask?  In the meantime old Ben praises her on his blog with a link to her post. The members of the ODBA have a website here and are in no way connected to the vile spew linked by Ben and the Daily Whackjob. The funny thing is that when the Daily Whackjob administrator is asked about this obscene act in a email, he states that Ben was the one who told Mrs Rhodes about the domain. Ohhh..That clears it up! Ben asked me....nice that Mrs. R is so loyal.

The offensive domain was registered using Domains by Proxy and GoDaddy.  OBBA members are taking action. You can read about that here. We are confident that the truth will come out and names will be posted.

One can only wonder as to the mind set of the players in this game. What is worth linking to pedophilia at others expense? Blog favors perhaps? Political Desperation? Time will tell.

Duncan Hunter - Dragon Hunter

While Fred Thompson, John McCain, and Sam Brownback supported and voted for giving Permanent Most Favored Nation status for Communist China, Duncan Hunter stood strong. Alexander J. Madison has penned a great article on the subject here. Duncan is clear in his vision that you should never trust communists. Check this

Hunter was asked by Fox’s Wendell Goler if the billions in American debt held by the Chinese constitutes a security threat. He replied:

“If we don’t do anything about it, Wendell, it will be a security threat. And the other thing that will be a security threat is the fact that China is buying ships, planes and military equipment with hundreds of billions of American trade dollars coming there way. They bought the Sovremmeny class missile destroyers from the Russians that were designed to do one thing: Kill American Aircraft carriers. So there IS a security threat as we allow China to cheat on trade, they are arming with American trade dollars and they are lending our money back to us. Some people say they will treat us right if get into a crunch. And I say ‘yeah, just like they treated that guy in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square’. It is time for us to enforce trade rules with China, to create a two way street, not a one way street and that will give us much less exposure on the economic side that you’re talking about, and the security side”.

Indeed, Duncan Hunter is the Dragon Hunter. The only one left.

A sad truth. Support Duncan Hunter and his vision for America. Peace Through Strength. Fair Trade. Fair Tax.

Apologize to all Leftists

“Remember when we heard that if only our leaders had known how to ‘connect the dots,’ the September 11 attacks could have been prevented? After nearly six years without a similar attack, the government has learned much about detecting the outlines of jihadist terror plots before they take shape. As a result, and after all the aggravations and humiliations of what I still hope are temporary safety procedures, our security has remained essentially intact. But can we say the same thing about our freedoms? At this point, I must interrupt... to apologize to all Leftists settling in for a juicy tirade against the Patriot Act, wiretaps for terrorists, or the sufferings of sensitive poets in residence at Guantanamo Bay. It is not the Bush administration’s efforts to protect us from ‘terror’ (more maturely known as jihad) that compromise our freedoms, it is jihad itself. And the basic freedom to discuss, analyze, debate, imagine, and, therefore, resist jihad is now under unprecedented assault.” —Diana West

It is always a rainy day for Gov Tim Kaine

Fuzzy math indeed from Gov Kaine. Appropriations Committee Chairman Vincent. F. Callahan Jr calls out Kaine on the error.

Statement of Chairman Vincent F. Callahan, Jr.
-- Regarding Errors by Kaine Administration relating to State Budget Shortfall --

RICHMOND, VAVirginia House of Delegates Appropriations Committee Chairman Vincent. F. Callahan Jr. (R-Fairfax) today issued the following statement regarding the $295 million forecasting error – amounting to about half of the total $641 million anticipated budget shortfall – that has contributed to Governor Kaine suggesting a withdrawal from the Commonwealth’s Revenue Stabilization (or “Rainy Day”) Fund:
“In testimony before the General Assembly today, the characterizations by Governor Kaine and Administration officials about the origins of the current budget shortfall were disappointingly incomplete.
“The state is facing a cumulative revenue shortfall of approximately $641 million for Fiscal Years 2007 and 2008.  While we all would prefer to have continued surpluses, the fact is that 46% of the shortfall is not the result of an emerging economic crisis, but is directly attributable to the forecasting inaccuracies by the Administration.
“Specifically, this portion of the state budget shortfall is being driven from the payment of refunds in excess of the forecast due to the Land Conservation Tax Credit ($175 million) and errors in calculating interest earning to the general fund ($120 million).  These inaccurate projections totaled $295 million.
“Unlike the recession earlier this decade, where the state actually collected less revenue, the challenge today is to build a budget that assumes moderate revenue growth in the 2008-10 biennium.
“To responsibly manage the anticipated $641 million budget shortfall, it is both premature and perhaps totally unnecessary to drawn down the state’s ‘Rainy Day’ Fund, which is currently fully funded at $1.3 billion.  The General Assembly has spent the last four year replenishing this fund.  We should adhere to the intent of the law and only use it to respond to a severe economic downturn, as opposed to proposing to errors in the revenue forecast.  In fact, if these forecasting errors had not occurred, the triggers required by the state’s Constitution would not be met.
“Prior to drawing down the state’s ‘Rainy Day’ Fund, sound management practices would dictate that we thoroughly scrutinize the budget and make the necessary hard decisions on what should be funded and what should not.  Likewise, we should not commit scarce taxpayer dollars to new programs.  Rather, spending decisions ought to be aimed at maintaining a structurally balanced budget for the future.”

Utah Miners

I only posted about this once. The reason was the outlook for the Utah miners was grim from the beginning. We have witnessed a tragic event.  We have watched the fearless brothers try to rescue the fallen leading to three more deaths. The mine has suffered a severe collapse and it may be months or years before the movement ceases and allows a safe environment for the recovery. Yes it is tragic and sad, but it is the reality of mining.

I am angered about the media coverage. I can forgive ignorant reporters asking stupid questions, but to hold cameras up to ambulance windows, show chest compressions being administered, is way beyond the scope of reporting. If that was me or my family, there would be some serious butt kicking taking place.

We have watched as Union officials and anti coal mouthpieces seize this opportunity to grandstand. I am reminded of last year at the Union Fish fry in Castlewood. They had some of the Sago families there, yet they forgot to invite the family of the Union miner killed a month after Sago. That union miner was killed by a ribfall just like the three rescuers in Utah. They spin these tragedies to work for their agenda and it makes me sick.

Come and listen you fellows, so young and so fine,
And seek not your fortune in the dark, dreary mines.
It will form as a habit and seep in your soul,
'Till the stream of your blood is as black as the coal.

CHORUS:
It's dark as a dungeon and damp as the dew,
Where danger is double and pleasures are few,
Where the rain never falls and the sun never shines
It's dark as a dungeon way down in the mine.

It's a-many a man I have seen in my day,
Who lived just to labor his whole life away.
Like a fiend with his dope and a drunkard his wine,
A man will have lust for the lure of the mines.

CHORUS

I hope when I'm gone and the ages shall roll,
My body will blacken and turn into coal.
Then I'll look from the door of my heavenly home,
And pity the miner a-diggin' my bones.

CHORUS

The midnight, the morning, or the middle of day,
Is the same to the miner who labors away.
Where the demons of death often come by surprise,
One fall of the slate and you're buried alive.LINK TO LISTEN.

Duncan Hunter - The other candidates on China

In a recent live blog on Free Republic, Duncan was asked-

#11. What are the significant differences as you see them, to recommend you over Fred Thompson, another conservative candidate who will likely be the front runner when/if he enters the race?

Hunter: I’ll have to let Fred Thompson speak for himself, as I am not closely familiar with his record yet, but I do know that all of the Senators presently running for president, including Mr. Thompson,

Brownback and McCain voted for Permanent Most Favored Nation status for Communist China, which I strongly oppose. I voted aginst PMFN with Red China because the Chinese are clearly using US trade dollars to buy ships, warplanes and missiles, some of which are clearly targeted on American forces and interests. With respect to the rest of the Republican field, major differences are manifest in my support of fair, not free, trade. The industrial base of the United States is being pushed to China, India and other nations as a result of our acquiescence to extremely unfair trading rules that result in U.S. manufacturers being double-taxed and our competitors being subsidized. Also, I believe I am the only candidate in the field besides John McCain who is a Vietnam Veteran and the only candidate with a son (Duncan D.) who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. (McCain’s’ sons may have deployed at this date). In this era of difficult wars, it will be increasingly important to have a commander-in-chief who has shared in the burden of military service. I also know that none of the candidates have been as consistent on border and immigration enforcement as I have, in fact some have worked for the opposite result, or recently flip flopped on this vital issue. Please reference my 1986 vote against Amnesty. Also I'm the only candidate who has actually built a border fence (through directive legislation and directed appropriation). The San Diego Fence represents my ability to get things done, no simply take positions. Lastly, as Chairmen of the Armed Services committee, I increased the size of the US Marine Corps and added hundreds of millions of dollars to the defense budget to give better protection to our troops in Iraq and Afganistan through additional body armor, armored vehicles, and jammers to protect against roadside bombs (as well as many other types of combat equipment)

Now we have China and Russia playing war games together. Think about that.

Ben Tribbett is grasping...at Joey Stanley

(PIC stolen from VAOddsMaker)
Ben is grasping at nothing. Lets read my email sent to the ODBA. Here it is.
Roscoe has hired the Yellow Dog Group to run his media online.
http://roscoereynolds.com/20/index.php

That is the Joe Stanley bunch, The Macaca master! The Harris Miller anti semitic flyer, etc.
http://yellowdogstrategy.com/home/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Something to think about.
Carl
That email got Ben, Joey, and Roscoe's silkies in a knot. He is quick to defend Joey Stanley! Fabricating the above email into this post. Wow...it takes a sharp mind to come up with that. Saying I attacked Joey? What statement in the above email is false? Where is the attack? Where did I ask anyone to post about the subject? I think Ben's fabrication is very clear to any reader. Accusing bloggers of coordinating? My God..how shameful! Ben is coordinating with Joey Stanley and one can assume Sen Roscoe Reynolds is on top of this manage a trios.
It is clear Ben and Joey are desperate. Roscoe is hurting and one can only imagine what kind of flyers Joey will publish next.
When you visit Joey's Yellow Dog site you will find a portfolio of his work. The proud master of macaca and many other examples of his work. Missing is the Harris Miller anti semitic handbill. Joey should be proud of his work and have that on his site. Maybe Ben can republish it also. The absence of this handbill on Yellow Dog speaks volumes as to the true nature of that publication.
The question still remains as to why Roscoe would associate with the anti semitic handbill publishing Yellow Dog? Desperation indeed.
Also Blogging about this

Roscoe Reynolds Yellow Dog Strategy

Roscoe has hired the anti Semitic, macaca master Yellow Dog Strategy to help him out. Riley call this a desperate act.

Why would Roscoe hire the group who famously used anti-Semitic stereotypes? We have already witnessed Roscoe defending hiring a Texas firm to research his opponent. Then when asked about this by a constituent he tells them it is "None of your business." Roscoe has his own style of Let Them Eat Cake.

30 Years Ago....A Legend Passed Away

I remember you back in nineteen-fifty-six
You had all the moves and you knew all the tricks:
You left all the ladies in a hell of a fix,
When your voice took wings
Then you'd shake around and oh, how'd you sing:
Just an old boy from Memphis with a big diamond ring:
A country girl's prayer and a city girls dream;
Hail the king
~Reflections by Charlie Daniels.

I was not around in 56, but I did grow up in a house full of Elvis fans. My parents first date was going to a Elvis movie. I was around March 18, 1976 in Johnson City. TN. I saw the King and all that entails through the eyes of a 11 year old. We traveled from Chicago down to see family and the show. I have attended many concerts since, but nothing compares to that night. I did not realize then, but I do now...This was a ROCK STAR.

Tomorrow, August 16, marks 30 years since his death. I was 12 and playing ball with friends when my aunt came tearing down the street. She saw me and screeched the car to stop. I walked over to see big tears rolling down her face. Sad day. One can only wonder what he would have achieved.

Duncan Hunter Heading To the Southland!

A brief message.

Hunter Takes an Honest Start in Iowa to Nevada and the South

The straw poll in Ames was a great beginning to our campaign in Iowa! We are the only campaign that did not buy a single vote! Voting took place largely before the speeches began. But, what a great response we generated after Iowans heard Duncan Hunter's message. Crowds came into our area after the voting and started signing up to be county chairs and precinct chairs! Our campaign heads into the Iowa Caucuses full steam ahead!

With the Ames straw poll over, we find that another state has emerged as important this cycle. Nevada. Duncan Hunter spent a great day campaigning in Las Vegas this week with back to back events from morning 'til night including an address to several border security organizations whose members know that Duncan Hunter was strong on border security before it was popular and that his sounding of the alarm by building a border fence in California was proven right.

After our time in Nevada we will be heading down South where a couple of straw polls are coming up that will be a test of strength in Alabama and Texas. Duncan Hunter will participate on Saturday August 18th in a straw poll of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies of Alabama and then head toward the August 30th Texas State GOP Straw Poll where nearly 30,000 delegates are qualified to vote!

If you find yourself in the Dallas-Fort Worth part Texas on August 15th, you can hear Duncan Hunter at the Lakewood Assembly of God in Garland, Texas at 7:00 PM.

On August 16th, those early birds that would like to have a cup of coffee while listening to Duncan, he can be found at Luigi's Italian Restaurant in Rockwall, Texas starting at 8:00 AM. Those who miss having their first cup of coffee with him, can catch Duncan at 10:00 AM at the Greenville old office (Rotary building) in Greenville, Texas. Any who have the early afternoon free will find Duncan at the new Smith County Republican Headquarters on Broadway in Tyler, Texas at 2:00 PM. Finally, you can wrap up the day with Duncan Hunter over dinner in Terrell, Texas at the Holiday Inn Express meeting room for $10 which includes the cost of the food.(LINK)

Life at Conception Act

"Congressman Hunter has been the author (I believe at least 5 times) of the ‘Life at Conception Act’ which is an act that, if passed, would define life as beginning at conception.  If that happened, the 14th amendment would apply to protecting the lives of the unborn.  An admission made by the court in their Roe v. Wade ruling."(LINK)

Representative Duncan Hunter’s (R-CA) Life at Conception Act [H.R. 618] was introduced in the House of Representatives on the 34th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, January 22, 2007, with a record 64 original cosponsors.(http://www.prolifealliance.com/life%20at%20conception%20act.htm )

January 22 is a special day for me. Many of you know why. Duncan Hunter stands up for those who cannot speak for themselves. There is nothing more honorable than that. His record is solid as he tries to protect the unborn. Duncan Hunter is a true pro life champion and he needs your support.

Sen Roscoe Reynolds is Causing a Stir!

Sen Reynolds is in the spotlight. That spotlight is showing how the Senator treats his constituents. We saw yesterday how Roscoe has a anger problem. Today we watch him dismiss a voter and avoid a question. I am amazed people voted for this guy!

Roscoe, People are noticing you! Jerry From on High has this and this.

Leslie Carbone has also noticed saying Roscoe is Bill Clinton without the Charm.

Scott is watching also.

Virginia Virtucon covers it all saying Roscoe is the Talk of the Town.

SWAC Girl says it is time for a change.

Guns on Campus

Andrew Dysart, a George Mason University senior, has organized a chapter of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. (LINK)

Dysart is a ex marine. "Dysart says that the students at Tech should have had a chance to defend themselves." I agree. Criminals love a gun free zone. It looks like the group may have Lt Gov Bill Bolling on their side. Spank That Donkey has this post - LG Bolling backs Virginians Right to Bear Arms on Campus.

This is sure to be a hot issue in the next session.
