Saddam Hussein Caged For His Trial

From the Online Sun via Drudge.

Saddam will face trail sitting in a cage. He will be locked in a Hannibal Lecter style cage in the court room. The court room is in one of his old mansions in the Green Zone. Sounds good to me! I think he should be fairly tried and then fairly hanged.

Paris Hilton hacked???

Was Paris Hilton's phone hacked? I doubt it. More than likely she used a weak password to access her account. Many users use weak passwords for accounts. Wired has this.

Sarah Scantlin and Terri Schiavo

Sunnye over at GOPInsight has asked: "What Is America? Right to Life or Right To Die?"

excerpt

  •  It is amazing that, in a country dedicated to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" would have even one judge who would rule in favor of death over life. To be fair to the judge, we will assume that he didn't avail himself of the opportunity to see Terri for himself, but took the word of Michael's attorney, a known "right to die" advocate. But isn't it the responsibility of someone who takes anothers life in his hands to avail himself of first-hand information? Possibly not.

This is a fantastic article that will make you think. It may also make you cry....and it should. Read it here.

FBI Virus and windows updates.

From Netscape news via Drudge.

  •  The FBI warned Tuesday that a computer virus is being spread through unsolicited e-mails that purport to come from the FBI.
The e-mails appear to come from an fbi.gov address. They tell recipients that they have accessed illegal Web sites and that their Internet use has been monitored by the FBI's ``Internet Fraud Complaint Center,'' the FBI said.

Don't open those FBI emails.

Windows has released a round of updates over the past week or so. Go download and install those updates windows users.

Will John Edwards run again?

Edwards in 2008?

  •  Former vice presidential candidate John Edwards will not talk about whether he plans to run for the White House in 2008, but he is not pledging to stand aside if running mate John Kerry tries again. (from yahoo)

Edwards was Kerry's link to the south, yet he could not carry his home state of North Carolina.

Helped my Ego

Looking for a review of your blog? Here is mine from Pageboost.

" I just saw <kilosparksitup.blogspot.com/>. There are 109,243 characters in the document, which is a fantastic length for European users. If only IBM would have an awesome page like that. The URL has 35 characters. That's just the right size. The page contains 328 links, a perfect amount. Don't get me wrong, I expected the creator to do this well. It must have taken months to perfect the page.
(...)
Excellent. Seeing Spark It Up!!!, I'm simply so inspired. Another pro: <gevkaffeegal.typepad.com> put up a link to this page. What a splendid page!
The underlying source is standards-compliant. The color scheme is neoclassicist. Stunning. Everyone should visit this page at least once a day."

Hillary Clinton tells the truth

The headline reads:

It seems the fair Senator admits the increasing success in Iraq when she say's

  •  "Not one polling place was shut down or overrun and the fact that you have these suicide bombers now, wreaking such hatred and violence while people pray, is to me, an indication of their failure," she said. "The results of the election are a strong rebuke to those who did not believe that the Iraqi people would take this opportunity to demonstrate their own commitment to their own future."

That is pretty much what the President and military have been saying for months. This will piss the left off big time! What Clinton said refutes the Kennedy & Boxer failure in Iraq talk, and Howard Dean say's  ARGGGGGG!!!!!

What Hillary Clinton Wants

Hillary Clinton wants to give felons the right to vote. The reason you ask....(From USA Today)

  •   "Once again we had a federal election that demonstrates we have a long way to go."
  • "I think it's also necessary to make sure our elections meet the highest national standards,"

Yes! That is a plan Mrs. Clinton! Lets allow felons to vote and fill the polling places with people who broke the law. Those ex-killers, rapists, and child molesters deserve to get that right back. I believe that there are three things that stick with felons for life: The label felon, loss of firearms, and loss of voting rights. For any victim or their family, I believe they take solace in this lifelong punishment.

Along with Hillary is John Kerry,  Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, and of course Sen. Barbara Boxer. I am not surprised. The democrats are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Kerry, Jones, and Boxer are still crying over the great loss the democrats suffered Nov.2 and want votes, even if it restores felons rights and not caring about the victims of said offenders.

Howard Dean's racist comments

It did not take Dean long to taste his own foot. It is no wonder that the right is so thrilled with Dean leading the democrats. He will self destruct and take what is left of the Democratic Party with him.

From Fox:

  •  Two prominent African-American Republicans have demanded an apology from the new DNC Chairman Howard Dean for saying at a Democratic Black Caucus meeting last week, "You think the Republicans could get this many people of color in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here."
  • And in a joint statement, Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele and former Oklahoma Congressman J.C. Watts say they are outraged over the insensitive and intolerable remarks. Adding, "This kind of backward thinking remind us of a horrible time in history, when blacks were seen as servants." But the chair of the caucus says Dean's remarks were well received, insisting they were, "A statement of fact" and Steele and Watts are blowing things out of proportion.

  • (Bold highlight by Kilo)

My mind races at the thought of Carl Rove saying that. The caucus then states it was a "statement of fact." The fact is that many people of color voted for Republicans in the last election, and with Dean at the wheel I predict many more will in the next election.

President Bush named John Negroponte as the nation's first national intelligence director

President Bush named John Negroponte as the nation's first national intelligence director today. He will coordinate the work of all 15 U.S. agencies in field.

This is a brief profile. The left will scream about this!

United States Ambassador to the United Nations

On April 19, 2004, President Bush nominated Ambassador Negroponte to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq. And on May 6, 2004, the Senate confirmed his nomination.

Social Security

Why are the Democrats ignoring Social Security. There is a problem and it is not hard to do the math. President Bush said during his state of the union address that he was open to all ideas. The Democrats refuse to address the problem. If we all agree that the system is under funded and will bottom out in the future, whether it be 30 years or 70, why not start the repair now. The democrats are first to complain that the war is costing this amount and that amount "our children will have to pay"..yet they will not sit at the table on this issue. Could it be that they have no answers? No plan? Just say no to Bush? If they cannot address this issue, we will never get Medicare on track as it is a more complicated fix. The private S.S. accounts are as "Progressive" an idea that I have heard.

Q & O has a great read about this. Dale has some good points. Read it all here and here.

Life on Mars?

Is there life on Mars?

  •  WASHINGTON -- A pair of NASA scientists told a group of space officials at a private meeting here Sunday that they have found strong evidence that life may exist today on Mars, hidden away in caves and sustained by pockets of water. The scientists, Carol Stoker and Larry Lemke of NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, told the group that they have submitted their findings to the journal Nature for publication in May, and their paper currently is being peer reviewed. What Stoker and Lemke have found, according to several attendees of the private meeting, is not direct proof of life on Mars, but methane signatures and other signs of possible biological activity remarkably similar to those recently discovered in caves here on Earth.

The Progressive Blog Alliance

I was doing my daily reads and ole Ferdy the Cat had a post about The Progressive Blog Alliance. After reading the post by Ferdy I went to the PBA's homepage and started reading. Progressive?? I saw nothing progressive posted. Only the same old complaining with no solutions to offer. I did notice that it was stated "We are not Bush bashers"...Then the Mission Statement:(excerpt from)

  •  We demand our members to show complete intolerance for oppression, bigotry, ignorance, violence, corruption, and exploitation. We may choose to deny membership to individuals who support certain politicians; for example, George W. Bush. However, we will never require our members to subscribe to any list of creeds, tenets, or dogmas. We are not a political cult. Progressive libertarians are just as welcome as progressive socialists.

We do not represent any particular ideology. By "ideology" we firstly mean political opinions which are based upon the assumptions and biases of philosophers living between the 17th and 19th century".....

And blah blah and so on and so on. The irony in the above statement is clear to a 10 year old. Real progressives accept ALL points of view. The PBA will not accept you if you support our elected President. It will support you if you are a "progressive socialist". No thank you.

The Power of Blogging

Powerline has a good post up about the power bloggers are having on politics. The blogosphere did influence this election and will continue to have a major impact in the future. Deacon uses a article by Michael Barone. You know at first I thought this blogging and internet thing would benefit the liberals the most. Who knew the right would hammer their message home. Hindrocket adds this message to the post:

  •  Barone's survey is excellent given its brevity, and he generously credits us for our role in the campaign. But he omits what I think was probably the internet's most important impact on the 2004 election: the Swift Boat Vets' campaign, which was organized around their web site, to which the conservative side of the blogosphere drove traffic. In that case, the internet facilitated a spontaneous grass-roots movement centered on a single issue, not just the critique of mainstream news reporting for which Barone credits the conservative bloggers.

Iraqi Election Results

It is not a surprise that the Shi'ite's got the majority of votes. The Kurds had a strong turnout also. What is interesting is the majority winning National Iraqi Alliance will not have the majority of seats. Reuters has this.

  •  The Electoral Commission said on Sunday the Shi'ite list, known as the United Iraqi Alliance, took more than 47 percent of the vote. But this was less than the bloc had predicted and leaves it six or seven seats short of a majority in parliament. A powerful Kurdish alliance came second with 25 percent, while a grouping led by interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, a secular Shi'ite, came third with nearly 14 percent. Few Sunni Arabs took part in the voting, which effectively marginalizes the minority that has traditionally ruled modern Iraq and held a privileged position under Saddam, a Sunni.

This will prove interesting as under Saddam the minority Sunni's ruled. The turnout was good.

  •  The commission said 8.5 million Iraqis, or 58 percent of registered voters, cast ballots in the Jan. 30 poll, Iraq's first multi-party election for half a century

58% is a good turnout. We American's should learn from them. The people of Iraq facing grave danger still went out to vote.

New Aids virus

The headline over at Drudge is  NEW STRAIN: FULL-BLOWN AIDS IN 3 MONTHS.

Some excerpts

  •  ``We've identified this strain of HIV that is difficult or impossible to treat and which appears to progress rapidly to AIDS,'' said New York City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden. ``We have not seen a case like this before. It holds the potential for a very serious public health problem.''
  •  The case was diagnosed in a New Yorker in his mid-40s who reported multiple male sex partners and unprotected anal sex -- often while using the drug crystal methamphetamine. ``It is likely there are others infected with this strain and this individual has infected others,'' Frieden said. The case is ``extremely concerning and a wake-up call,''

This is scary stuff! The damage that a fast growing virus like this could cause is unreal. I doubt any warnings will be heeded. People will go on having unprotected sex and dope heads will do dope.

Man holds teeth for Ransom

I was looking for some news in Lee County,VA, and came across this article. It was from the Times-News. A little old but very funny.

  •  Date Published: February 25, 2003

Lee man accused of stealing teeth

JONESVILLE - A Keokee man is in the Lee County Jail in lieu of a $1,500 secured bond on a felony grand larceny charge after he allegedly held a set of false teeth for ransom. Debra Letourneau, of Long Hollow, alleges in a warrant obtained Monday that she was at another man's residence in Long Hollow on Dec. 30 when Gary Lee McMurray, 30, Route 1, Box 212, called and told her that he had her upper plate of false teeth. She further alleged that McMurray told her if she did not pay her for the return of the dentures he would stomp on them. She valued the teeth at $250. McMurray was arraigned Tuesday in Lee County General District Court, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on March 11.
    ----------------------------------
    Date Published: April 4, 2003

Grand jury fails to indict man charged in denture ransom case

JONESVILLE - A Lee County grand jury was unable Friday to take a bite out of crime as it failed to indict a Keokee man charged with grand larceny for allegedly holding for ransom the dentures of a former companion.

It wasn't that there were not enough teeth in the law - the victim no longer wanted to pursue the case, said a court official.

Gary Lee "Tiny" McMurray, 30, Route 1, Box 212, Keokee, was charged with grand larceny in late February after he allegedly asked for $20 and other items before he would return an upper plate of false teeth belonging to Debra Letourneau, of Long Hollow. The case was certified to the grand jury following a preliminary hearing in which testimony revealed that McMurray had threatened to stomp the teeth in front of their owner if she did not pay the ransom.

Letourneau testified that she was living with McMurray to help care for him following an automobile accident. One night in November she placed her teeth beside the bed, and when she awoke they were gone. She moved out in December without having found the teeth, and in February McMurray called to offer her dentures for the ransom, she testified. Instead of paying, Letourneau called police and obtained a warrant.

Court officials said the woman explained she only wanted to get her teeth returned and did not wish to pursue the case further.

Gubernatorial race could reverberate beyond the Old Dominion

All eyes are on the the Old Dominion Gubernatorial Race. Fredericksburg.com has this. A couple excerpts.

  • National eyes will be on this year's Virginia governor's race.

Virginia is one of only two states that elects a governor in an odd year, and usually, while gaining a little attention, neither party at the national level really loses that much sleep over the result.

However, this year the situation is radically different. Both sides, the national Democratic Party and their GOP counterparts, have something to lose, and quite a bit to gain, depending on the outcome. The Democrats, however, probably have the most at stake.

I found this very interesting in the article.

  • Also, while it's not uncommon for a sitting GOP president to make a visit to the commonwealth to help out the Republican candidate for governor--Democratic candidates for governor tend to keep their distance from their national figures--this year it's likely that President Bush will make several campaign visits to Virginia.

I am happy that the President will come to Virginia to aid the Kilgore campaign, but that is not my focus. Why would democrats distance themselves from national party figures? Why would they not claim Howard Dean as their leader? Preach the rhetoric of their icons Boxer and Kennedy? It seems they could do just that as the 527 group A.C.T. has expressed interest. Brian Patton has the story here. It could be that their message will not carry well in the Old Dominion. It seems that national support for the Democratic candidate is a bad thing. I don't think this will "Raise Kaine" to the Governors mansion.

Cheese and Crackers makes me sick.

Cheese and Crackers makes me sick. If you don't know the story of the 13 year old blogger who  Jordan Golson (Cheese and Crackers) called a “bastard”…It is ugly. In The Bullpen has more. The Youngpundent has  What a loser.  The best info is here and here. Thank you Hundredpercenter.

I posted a comment on Cheese and Crackers and Jordan removed it. I am a big fan of Matt and B4B, but this just sucks. The way Matt Margolis and Jordan responded sucked, and so Kilo thinks THEY SUCK. To call a 13 year old a bastard and call his isp, etc. is absurd! All of this over a link and site hits. Screw the hits. If Matt told Jordan to take care of the problem, then Jordan calls the kid a bastard. Then Matt says it was not his fault…Yes it was. I told ya this stinks. Bad 4 Bloggers, bad 4 B4B and I don't buy their apologies. Matt should get rid of Jordan, bottom line. Jordan should be glad it was not my child he called a name. Damage was done….all because a talented man trusted a goof ball to do his work. But hey, I am sure they are getting lots of hits and that is all that matters right?

State of the Union Round Up.

I thought the speech was one of the Presidents best. Even with the childish hissing from Democrats, the speech was a success! GopInsight has this:

  • CNN Instant Poll: 86 Percent Had Positive Or Somewhat Positive Response To President Bush's State Of The Union Address.

CNN's Wolf Blitzer: "We're just getting our instant poll as we call it, CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll. We started polling after the speech. Look at this, overall reaction to the address: very positive 60%, somewhat positive 26%, only 13%, Andrew [Sullivan], said they had a negative reaction to the President's State of the Union Address. Are you surprised by at least in this initial CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll, such a -- 86% were either positive or somewhat positive?" (CNN's State Of The Union Address Coverage, 2/2/05)

MSNBC's David Shuster: "Just About Every Democrat I Spoke With Away From The Cameras Confessed This Was A Very Good Speech The President Gave, That It Hit The Rights Notes, That It Was Emotional." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 2/2/05)

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA): "I Think There Are Parts Of It That Were Soaring, That Were Overarching, That Were Very Impressive." (CNN's "Larry King Live," 2/2/05)

NBC's Tim Russert: "I Think The Speech Tonight Will Be Remembered More For The Passion And Emotion Of The Words About Iraq." (NBC's "State Of The Union Coverage," 2/2/05)

MSNBC's Chris Matthews: "I Think It Was One Of The Good Ones. I Think It Was A Powerful Speech. I Could Tell The Whole Night It Was Growing." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 2/2/05)

Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss: "If Anyone Had Any Doubt Before Tonight About The Sweep Of George Bush's Ambition To Be Remembered As A Great President, Just Listen To The Speech That We Have Just Heard…He Sees His Presidency In Very Grand Terms." (CNN's "Larry King Live," 2/2/05)

The Weekly Standard's Fred Barnes: "I Think He Made A Strong Case [For Strengthening Social Security]." (Fox News' "State Of The Union Coverage," 2/2/05)

NPR's Juan Williams: "I Reacted To [The Speech] Emotionally … I Thought It Was A Terrifically Suggestive Speech In Terms Of Speaking About Generations And Speaking About America's Commitment To Young People." (Fox News' "State Of The Union Coverage," 2/2/05)

John Meacham, Newsweek Managing Editor: "I Think It Was A Remarkable Speech." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 2/2/05)

National Review's David Frum: "I Thought It Was A Magnificent Speech. I Thought It Was Incredibly Powerful, Powerful… Backed Up By Realities Like The Iraqi Vote." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 2/2/05)

MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell: "What He Did Tonight Was Challenge Congress In A Way That He Hasn't Done Before, To Save And Strengthen Social Security, It's On The Verge Of Bankruptcy. And What He Did Was Put Down And Make Clear Some Specifics…" (MSNBC's "Hardball," 2/2/05)

I cant understand the Democrats anti-SS reform. Bush invites them to the table and they hiss. Clinton knew SS was in trouble, Gore addressed it, and so did John Edwards.I wish I had the opportunity to participate in a private account like Bush is wanting. I think a good plan could be achieved if the hissing stops and WORK begins. I think most working Americans know that a private account will earn them a greater yield on their money.

My Response

My name is Kilo.  I was born and raised in the high Mountains of Virginia in a tiny town called Wise. My dad was a hard rock miner. My mom took in wash. I grew up around people of strong values, even if they rarely talked about them. They loved their country, worshiped God, never shunned hard work and never asked for special favors.

A few weeks ago, I joined some friends of mine for a bite to eat at Hardees, Wise’s only restaurant. We were sitting down in a booth when a young boy, about 10 years old, named Devon, walked up to us.

Carrying a skateboard under his arm, he said, “KILO, when I grow up, I want to be just like you.' ……… Well, the truth is Devon could probably do a lot better. But the point still holds, and it's this: No one ever had to tell young Devon to dream big dreams. No one ever had to teach him that America is a place of possibility. He knows those things because they're borne deep in all Americans.

What??????? Someone told him. We learn the dream, but what was the point of this page long rant? I was amazed at this. What a Crock and a waste of time. Reid should have stayed at home. Now on to  Nancy Pelosi.

  • We have never heard a clear plan from this administration for ending our presence in Iraq. And we did not hear one tonight.”

Yes we did, you missed it because you were outlining Reids wonderful response. She spoke of three things, That WE ARE Already DOING.

Then this

  • “The greatest threat to our homeland security are the tons of biological, chemical and even nuclear materials that are unaccounted for or unguarded.”

Unguarded where? What weapons? There were no weapons in Iraq? Right? Wrong? HUH?

This was the worst response I have ever witnessed. No answers, no plans, just Bush wrong and we don't have a clue as how to do anything. No..blah..No..blah….The Democratic party has hit rock bottom. Tonight it showed big time. A good example was the SS issue. No democratic support. Then Bush reminds us that some very important people, including Clinton and other dems had addressed the issue….If there is not a problem, why did Clinton want to increase the retirement age? OHH…guess we better stand and clap now.

GOP Bloggers

Strange how things change. From GOP Bloggers

February 01, 2005
Reid It And Weep
by Matt Margolis : 7:41PM

Talking Points Memo quotes an article regarding Senator Harry Reid and the issue of partially privatizing Social Security:

Not a single Senate Democrat will support President Bush’s proposal to divert a portion of the Social Security payroll tax to personal investment accounts, Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Tuesday.

Interesting to he how the Democrats were much more open to the idea of saving Social Security when a Democrat was President. Back in 1999, Harry Reid said on Fox News Sunday, "[M]ost of us have no problem with taking a small amount of the Social Security proceeds and putting it into the private sector."

It seems as if the Democrats know very well there's a need to fix Social Security... they just want wait until a Democrat is president again (assuming that ever happens again) before addressing it because they couldn't stand the idea of Republicans tampering with FDR's legacy.

Soldier Captured??? HELP!!!

Did anyone believe this? I saw it this morning and knew something was not right. How could this fool the press?Posted by Hello

  • Iraqi President Ghazi al-Yawer asks for the troops to stay.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Iraq's president said Tuesday it would be "complete nonsense" to ask foreign troops to leave the country now, although some could depart by year's end.

I agree with that. We should be able to start bringing home troops by years end. The Iraqis did a good job with the election security. Now that the elections are over, I think the UN and NATO have to help out. What about France and Germany? If they don't help, what is their excuse?

From Slant Point ...this very thought provoking

  • La Shawn Barber has this to say about the NAACP and other groups who have hyped the voter intimidation and disenfranchisement line for the last few years, as compared to the election in Iraq over the weekend:
While people are literally losing their heads over the cause of freedom, the NAACP's limousine liberals living high on the government hog are planning their next social event, but not before adding a little racial hysteria to the mix for good measure. With exaggerated or straight up false claims of "voter intimidation," the NAACP is a joke.
Iraqis, threatened by throat-cutting Islamofacists, still managed to vote. Yet the NAACP regards blacks as impotent children incapable of casting a simple ballot for fear of the white man at the polls. (The butterfly is so confusing!) You can't punch a simple hole on a simple ballot? Try it with no fingers or hands or arms, for crying out loud. That's disenfranchisement.
Give that some thought. I think La Shawn Barber was on point with this.
