300 Retired Generals & Admirals Endorse McCain For President

300 retired generals and admirals from around the country are endorsing John McCain for president. The retired generals and admirals announced their support with the following letter: "We have had the honor and privilege of serving as career officers in the United States Armed Forces, and of serving shoulder to shoulder with so many of the fine young men and women who are the backbone of America's Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. It is that experience that informs our judgment that John McCain is the presidential candidate best suited to serve as America's Commander-in Chief from the day of his inauguration.

Huge endorsement for McCain.

Democrat Says - I’m ashamed

Don’t be taken in by Obama’s words

This is a plea to local Democrats who I’m sure are moderates, compared with the ultra-liberals of the far left, not to be fooled by Obama’s words with no credible record to back him up. He voted in the Illinois state House to not give medical care to a baby born as a result of an unsuccessful abortion, voted to teach children as young as five sex education, and up to about a month ago was against clean-burning coal power plants — now he is in favor of them as long as the technology exists to make them 100 percent emissions free. There is no such fuel. He has no intention of pursuing clean or offshore oil exploration. Just ask vice presidential candidate Joe Biden — he was also against nuclear power but made the same statement that he is for it as long as the technology exists to make it 100 percent safe. Nuclear power is already as close as one can get to 100 percent safe.

Until a short time ago, he was anti-gun. Now he is born again and believes in gun owners’ rights. He has many questionable affiliations: Rev Wright hates white people and America, William Ayers just hates America. Don’t be afraid to buck your party; question your union reps who urge you to support Obama.

I’m a registered Democrat and former two-term chair of the Citrus County Democratic Executive Committee. I am pro-union. I worked on many campaigns for Democratic candidates in Florida. Obama is the worst the Democratic Party has to offer. I’m ashamed of the party for straying far to the left with his nomination.

Rick Boucher, Eric Cantor, Tom Davis, James Moran, Frank Wolf vote against taxpayers

Cantor voted for the bailout along with Tom Davis and ole feckless Rick Boucher. The roll call vote is here. You may remember some bloggers talking about how good and conservative Cantor was a few months back. In what could be one of the most important votes in years, Cantor voted for the bailout. Lets look at how Virginia voted.

Rick Boucher, Eric Cantor, Tom Davis, James Moran, Frank Wolf all voted yes. That's some good company Cantor is keeping. Good conservatives one and all! Barf.

Thelma Drake, Randy Forbes, Virgil Goode, Bob Goodlatte, Robert Scott, Robert Wittman all voted no.

I have to add, my man Duncan Hunter voted no. I have not talked to anyone that supports this bailout. My hat is off to those who voted for the people!

Wise County Voter Registration is Up

By four to five hundred according to this. The question is are they Obama fans or coal supporters.

The Bailout and Duncan Hunter

My man Duncan Hunter released this statement the 27th

HUNTER OPPOSED TO TAXPAYER FUNDED BAILOUT OF WALL STREET

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) said today that he will continue opposing and vote against the $700 billion taxpayer funded bailout of Wall Street proposed by Congressional Democrats and Secretary of the Treasury Hank Paulson.

“If the taxpayer funded bailout of Wall Street proposed by Congressional Democrats and Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson comes to the House floor, I will vote against it,” said Congressman Hunter. “There is absolutely no guarantee under this proposal that taxpayer funds, used to purchase $700 billion of questionable Wall Street assets, would be re-circulated in the U.S. economy. In fact, this money could end up financing investments in countries around the world, including China and India.

“The base problem rests in the devaluation of real property. I would strongly support a homebuyer tax credit, as well as other incentives, that would assist in moving excess housing inventory and stabilizing the real-estate market.

“I am doubtful that the current proposal for a $700 billion bailout will have any immediate or lasting impact on our financial and housing markets. There are, however, several steps that we can take at no significant cost to taxpayers and a bailout of Wall Street is not one of them.”

I look forward to reading his thoughts about the new deal.

Obama stomps Free Speech

NOT ALL COUNTRIES guarantee their citizens the right to virtually unbridled freedom of speech. The United States does. Would someone please tell the campaign of Sen. Barack Obama? And the dozing guardians of liberty at the University of Mary Washington?

Mr. Obama, the Democratic nominee for president, is scheduled to speak at a rally at the university today. The public is invited to this forum, on property it, the public, owns. However, signs and banners will not be allowed, according to the organizers and compliant campus officials. Suddenly, UMW is a First Amendment-Free, or at least a First Amendment-Crippled, Zone, subject to the self-serving preferences of politicos. Why does an Obama rally–or a McCain rally or a Nader rally–justify taking a little off the top of Americans’ most fundamental rights?

A UMW spokeswoman says that the Obama campaign required the sign-and-banner ban. That campaign tells us that the ban is for “security” reasons. But a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service, responsible for protecting presidential candidates, says that the service has no objection to signs at rallies, provided that no “part of the sign could be used as a weapon”–e.g., a heavy metal pole or a sharpened stick. Finally, the McCain campaign tells us, “We encourage people to make signs at our events."LINK

Ms Malkin says More Obama gangland tactics: Signs banned at Virginia rally today.

Is Jon Bowerbank a Union Man? Maybe Lowell or Brian Patton can tell us.

Bowerbank was at the UMWA fish fry hob knobbing with the union guys. I am just wondering since he was there - Is his company Union? I mean if this company owner is going to hang out at the Union functions, then he should proudly be the one to offer his employees the chance to be represented in collective bargaining. To do otherwise is kinda shallow ya think?

If his company EMATS is Union, then I apologize. If they are not union, he should be asked why.

So Long Cool Hand Luke....

Paul Newman has passed away. He was 83.

"He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker."

SWAC Girl had a good time last night as she hosted a debate party.

"The fun of watching a debate with others is the reactions to what is said ... and last night was no disappointment as discussion spontaneously broke out on some points. I would I had been there.

Former Marine Justin Sharratt sues Rep. John Murtha over Haditha killings

A former Marine lance corporal exonerated in the investigation into the killing of 24 civilians in Haditha, Iraq, has filed a slander suit against Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) for allegedly saying that the Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood."

Lawyers for Justin Sharratt, 24, filed the lawsuit today in federal court in Pittsburgh. Sharratt's family lives in Murtha's district....................A suit has also been filed against Murtha by Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich. That suit is on hold while charges are still pending against Wuterich.

Of the eight Marines initially charged in the case, charges have been dismissed against seven. Wuterich's court-martial is delayed by legal wrangling over his interview on CBS' "60 Minutes." Also, prosecutors are appealing a judge's ruling that charges against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani should be dismissed.

Murtha's spokesman told a Pittsburgh television station that the 17-term congressman would have no comment on Sharratt's lawsuit.LINK

Murtha is a disgrace and he could use a swift kick in the ass.

Southwest Virginia Voters Uproar Over Pathological Joe Biden's Comments and Feckless Rick Boucher Looks Like a Fool

WJHL Reporter Nate Morabito talks to some voters in Leb-Nun.

Patty Howard works in Lebanon, Virginia. The self-confessed Obama backer was taken aback by Biden’s comments.

“It kind of made me mad,” Howard said. “They don’t need to tell us one thing one day and tell us another the next day. They need to keep their tails straight.”

Howard says that is especially important when the candidates are talking about coal production in America.

“Coal is our main source around here of living and it’s our income,” Howard said. “If it wasn’t for coal miners, we wouldn’t make much here.”

Well before Biden’s comments surfaced, lifelong Democrat Patricia Milam already shared her support for John McCain. If anything, the release of this video on You Tube only strengthens her convictions.

“It don’t matter where you’re at,” Milam said. “If you’re going to a different location and you know that they’re for it, then you don’t need to change your story.”

Still, for some like Thelma Ball, the wife of a coal miner, Biden’s comments are harmless. The Democrat is giving Biden a free pass this time.

“Politicians, sometimes they say things to just be elected,” Ball said.

That said, the majority of people we spoke with say this double talk can’t be ignored. It may not affect the way Patty Howard votes come November, but the Obama supporter won’t let it go unnoticed.

“It just bothers me and he will get an email from me,” Howard said.

In a statement sent to our news partner the Bristol Herald Courier, the Obama-Biden campaign insists both candidates support clean coal technology. Virginia Congressman Rick Boucher is standing behind Obama and Biden’s commitment to coal too. By phone today Boucher said, “It’s not reliable to take a few words made to people along a rope-line and consider it policy...No one can doubt that Senator Obama is a strong friend of coal.” Boucher explained away Biden’s video comments as trying to say the United States needs to sell clean coal technology to China while still using it here as well. Read it All

I think Boucher is full of shit. Biden lied, and it was not the first time. Feckless Rick is doing no one here in SWVA any good with his rhetoric. Is the truth in any of these men?

Mike Huckabee on the Bailout

Dear Huck PAC family,

I ask 2 things of you right now:

First, read this email completely. I’m including my thoughts on the “bailout bill,” and I believe you will find them of interest. Second, if you agree with what I have to say, support my efforts at Huck PAC so we’ll continue to have a strong voice and we’ll have the capacity to support conservative candidates all across the nation who will stand and fight for our conservative principles … especially in times of crisis like we are facing as a nation today.

Frankly, I’m disappointed and disgusted with my own Republican party as I watch them attempt to strong-arm a bailout of some of America’s biggest corporations by asking the taxpayers to suck up the staggering results of the hubris, greed, and arrogance of those who sought to make a quick buck by throwing the dice. They lost, but want the rest of us to cover their bets so they won’t be effected in their lavish lifestyles as they figure out how to spend their tens of millions and in some cases, hundreds of millions in bonuses and compensation which was their reward for not only sinking their companies, but basically doing the same to the entire American economy.

It’s especially disconcerting to see the very people who pilloried me during the Presidential campaign for being a “populist” and not “understanding Wall Street” to now line up like thirsty dogs at the Washington, D. C. water dish, otherwise known as Congress, and plead for help. I thought these guys were the smartest people in America! I thought that taxpayers like you and I were similar to the people at the U. N. who have no translator speaking into their headset - that we just needed to trust those that I called the power bunch in the “Wall Street to Washington axis of power.”

The idea of a government bailout in which we’d entrust $700 billion to one man without Congressional oversight or accountability is absurd. My party or not, that is insanity and I believe unconstitutional.

Will there be far-reaching consequences without some intervention? Probably, but we honestly don’t know since we’ve really never seen this level of greed and stupidity all rolled into one massive move. But may I suggest that letting “Uncle Sugar” step in and bail out the billionaires who made the mess will be far worse and will start a long line of companies and individuals who will demand the same of the government---which last time I checked means that they will be demanding it out of YOU and ME. This is not money that Congress is risking from THEIR pockets or future, but ours. Many if not most of us have already experienced lost value on our homes, retirement accounts, and pensions. Now they’d like for us to assume some further risks so they won’t have to.

What happened to the “free market” idea? Is that only our view when we WIN and when we LOSE, we ask the government to come in and take away the pain?
If you are a small business owner, is this the way it works at your place? When you have a bad month, a bad year, or face having to close, can you go up to Congress and get them to write YOU a fat check to take away your risk?

Some of what contributed to this disaster is too much government in the form of Sarbanes/Oxley. Some is due to the tax structure that created the hunger for companies to “game” the system. Some is the common sense that was ignored like loaning money to people who can’t pay it back.

Wall Street has become Las Vegas east, but at least in Vegas, people KNOW they are gambling and they don’t expect the government to cover their losses at the tables. In Wall Street, they do. And the American taxpayer burdens the responsibility.

If Congress wants to do something, here are some suggestions:

1. Eliminate ALL capital gains taxes and taxes on savings and dividends right now. Free up the capital and encourage investment. This is the kind of economic stimulus the Fair Tax would bring and if Congress is going to lose money, let them lose it with lower taxes, not with public dollar bailouts of private market mistakes.

2. Repeal Sarbanes/Oxley. It has failed. It was supposed to prevent this. It didn’t. Kill it.

3. Demand that the executives who steered their ships into the ground be forced to pay back the losses of their companies. Of course, they can’t, so let them work and give back to the government and they can live like the people they put on the streets or kept there. It makes no sense to put them in jail—that’s just more they will cost you and me. I’d rather them go out and earn money—just not get to keep so much of it this time. I’m not talking about limiting CEO salaries---just those of the people who now are up in Washington begging for help because they ruined their companies.

Attempts by Democrats and Republicans to blame each other is nonsense. They are both guilty and ought to own up and admit it. They all lived off big campaign contributions and the swill of the lobbyists who strong armed them into permission to steal. Enough of blame. Fix it!

This would be a start. If we don’t hold these guys responsible, we are all finished. ~ The Huck

This is way above my pay grade, but I agree with accountability. If not, then why should anyone give a thought to fiscal responsibility. When will it end? Bailout, bailout, bailout. I pay, I pay, I pay.

You Wanted Change - You Got It!

From a comment on the BHC.

Posted by ( pa and grandad ) on September 22, 2008 at 9:37 am

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
5) American’s were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!…

But American’s wanted ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes--we got ‘CHANGE’ all right. In the PAST YEAR:
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION
DOLLARS and prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~
$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT
PORTFOLIOS!

YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE...AND WE SURE GOT IT! ...
REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.
AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
NOW THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!
JUST HOW MUCH MORE ‘CHANGE’ DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?

Indeed.

"Coal Miner" Joe Biden and the United Mine Workers Union - Fish Frying Fools

To Brian Patton, Rick Boucher, UMWA prez Cecil the weasel Roberts and the rest of those clapping UMWA miners at Biden's visit to the coalfields last week, we bring you this.

I am sure the UMWA miners cant wait to start their new call center jobs for $8 an hour. Jerry says So Much For Biden's Visit To Castlewood. That's right Jerry! I await the the Bristol Herald Couriers editorial board and its leader J Todd Foster to opine on the whole coal miner Joe fiasco. What bullshit. I don't know what is worse: Biden's lies or the UMWA embracing this fool. What say you J Todd?

Biden's apparent answer: He supports clean coal for China, but not for the United States.
"No coal plants here in America," he said. "Build them, if they're going to build them, over there. Make them clean."
"We’re not supporting clean coal," he said of himself and Obama. They do, on paper, support clean coal. (link
here)

Now here is real news -

ARLINGTON, VA — Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito (R-WV), former Virginia Governor and Senator George Allen, former Congressman Scott McInnis (R-CO) and RNC Chairman Mike Duncan will announce the McCain-Palin campaign’s Coalition to Protect Coal Jobs, a nationwide group including members of Congress, state government and other influential leaders. The coalition will help spread the message about the importance of clean coal technology and the advantages of tapping the country’s vast coal reserves. As part of John McCain’s “all of the above” energy plan, the Lexington Project, clean coal will be a strong component of the drive to energy independence. In addition to providing domestic energy, the coal industry is a key part of the economy in several states.

John McCain’s support for clean coal technology is in sharp contrast to that of his opponents. Joe Biden visited Virginia on Saturday, saying that he was a “hard-coal miner” and that it was “nice to be back in coal country” while Obama supporter, Congressman Rick Boucher (D-VA) said “Senator Obama’s a friend of coal.” But just two days later in Ohio, Senator Biden said he wants “no coal plants here in America” and that he and Senator Obama are “not supporting clean coal.

Yankee Phil and DJ are covering this also. The BHC and the KTN are also on track.

The NY Sun - Palin on Ahmadinejad: 'He Must Be Stopped'

Her appearance was canceled by rally organizers, but here is the speech Palin was going to give.

I am honored to be with you and with leaders from across this great country — leaders from different faiths and political parties united in a single voice of outrage.

Tomorrow, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will come to New York — to the heart of what he calls the Great Satan — and speak freely in this, a country whose demise he has called for.

Ahmadinejad may choose his words carefully, but underneath all of the rhetoric is an agenda that threatens all who seek a safer and freer world. We gather here today to highlight the Iranian dictator's intentions and to call for action to thwart him.

He must be stopped.

Joe Biden Lies - Insults Coal Miners in Castlewood

“I hope you won’t hold it against me, but I am a hard-coal miner, anthracite coal, Scranton, Pa. It’s nice to be back in coal country. … It’s a different accent [in Southwest Virginia] … but it’s the same deal."~ Joe Biden

Biden was never a coal miner and that is the talking point in the coalfields this week. What coal company did Biden work for? What was his job? Why didn't one reporter ask him about it? Talk about pandering to people who know better. Landslide McCain/Palin in the Coalfields.

What We Need

“Ultimately, the choice before the American people is the choice between two visions: on the one hand, the policies of limited government, economic growth, a strong defense, and a firm foreign policy; and on the other hand, policies of tax and spend, economic stagnation, international weakness and accommodation, and always, always, from them, ‘Blame America first.’ It’s the choice between the policies of liberalism or the policies of America’s political mainstream.” ~ Ronald Reagan

New Virginia Poll - John McCain leading Barack Obama 48 percent to 39 percent among registered voters!

Is this poll accurate? Hell yes. The same poll shows Mark Warner with a 54 percent to 30 percent, over Republican Jim Gilmore..

The survey, taken last week for the Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University, found McCain with the support of 48 percent of state voters, compared with 39 percent for Obama. Just under 13 percent were undecided.

The poll also showed Democrat Mark Warner is maintaining a huge advantage, 54 percent to 30 percent, over Republican Jim Gilmore in the state’s U.S. Senate contest. Warner leads Gilmore among virtually all voter groups, the survey indicates, even claiming the support of nearly one in four Republicans.

Move it on to Pennsylvania Bong of Obama smokers. Captain Ed says

That result tends to underscore the significance of the McCain/Obama polling. If Gilmore couldn’t get more than 30% in his matchup, that makes Obama’s failure to clear 40% even more significant. It means that 30% of people voting for Warner do not plan to vote for Obama, a rather stunning rejection in a state Obama hoped to make competitive.

I believe Virginia is still a red state and the results of that poll will hold true. McCain voters will also support tax raiser Mark Warner and vice versa. It makes no sense but it will happen.

Power Plant Protesters - Worthless

The law breaking, smelly hippy protesters spent the night in jail and according to this report, a unknown source paid their bonds. These sorry slugs cant even bail themselves out of a misdemeanor charge. A charge that most WORKING people can sign their name on the line and be released. Who are these idiots that wasted tax dollars and tied up our police and fire department? Here ya go

Two women facing 14 charges each posted $5,000 cash bonds. Hannah M. Morgan, 20, 373 Henry St., Appalachia, and Kathleen Kennedy Rooth, 24, Washington, D.C., were each charged with 10 counts of instigating trespass by others, as well as one count each of dispersal of unlawful or riotous assembly, criminal trespass, participation in an unlawful assembly, and obstruction of justice.

The four latter violations were charged against William Eugene Gorz, 47, Hot Springs, N.C.; Cesar Pablo Maxit, 32, Washington, D.C.; Kathryn Mary Lally, 20, Columbia, Md.; Andrew Thomas Thomaides, 24, Washington, D.C.; Scott Grunewald Cardiff, 31, Washington, D.C.; Sally Anne Morgan, 21, Blacksburg; Grover Jasper Conner, 21, Roanoke; Robin Markle, 23, High Falls, N.Y.; and Kathryn Anne Hilton, 20, Aiken, S.C.

If you look at the pictures of these worthless slugs, you will notice that buying personal hygiene items is not the reason they could not post bond themselves. See Y'all in court!

All the protesters have been freed from the barrels, arrested and are being processed in Wise, Va. The 11 will have the opportunity to post bond or be taken to the regional jail in Duffield, Va.

The protesters range in age from 20 to 32 and are from locales ranging from New York state to South Carolina, including one woman who lives in Appalachia, Va.

An official with a hazardous-materials team has been called to the power plant because firefighters smelled an unknown substance in one of the barrels that protesters had locked themselves to. Link

Smelly hippies. Even the Bristol Herald Courier has this editorial

Protestors Wasted Time, Money

Published: September 16, 2008

We understand the angst created by the coal plant under construction by Dominion Virginia Power in Wise County. More than 45,000 Virginians signed a petition opposing the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center near St. Paul, Va.

But chaining yourself to a barrel on plant property, while peaceful, is not the way to express that outrage. It wastes a lot of taxpayers’ money and ties up emergency service workers – not a winning strategy if you hope to enlist more supporters for your cause.

The protesters, mostly from out of state, who descended on the plant construction site early Monday brought with them 55-gallon steel drums with which to lock themselves.

Not only will they leave Southwest Virginia with arrest records, but they could be forced to pay restitution for the costs of the law enforcement and EMS response and for any damage done to the plant.

It’s an option that Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney Ron Elkins is mulling and would be reasonable to invoke.

I encourage Wise County citizens to contact Commonwealth’s Attorney Ron Elkins and let him know how you feel.

Obama - Hope and Change in The Land of Oz

Mark Alexander lays it down on Obama's pipe dreams,

As those who self-identify as “Democrats” learn more about their party’s anointed candidate for the most powerful office in the world, perhaps they will consider a line from the Wizard of Oz—a quote which has metaphorical applications far beyond the movie.

“I am the great and powerful Oz!” thunders the Wizard to Dorothy and her friends. “Do you presume to criticize the great and powerful Oz? You ungrateful creatures!”

Alas, even as Dorothy’s tiny dog Toto tugs on the curtain to reveal a petty little man behind the thundering voice, the Wizard attempts to continue the ruse, orchestrating a booming declaration, “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”

Between now and 4 November, those who choose to ignore the petty little man behind the curtain orchestrating all that rolling rhetoric about “hope and change” do so at great peril to our nation, and to generations to come. Read it all

Indeed.

"Obama doesn’t stand up very well against Palin" ~ Jonah Goldberg

"The more Obama has to explain why being a community organizer — or a state legislator, or a one-term senator with few accomplishments under his belt — is better preparation for the presidency than being a mayor or governor, the more he volunteers his own shortcomings when compared with McCain.
Besides, on paper, Obama doesn’t stand up very well against Palin. All of the mythic themes of Obama’s political narrative — the ethics reformer, the bipartisan, the new kind of politician — look like press-release material next to Palin’s accomplishments. Obama voted the Democratic Party line more often (97 percent) than McCain voted in accord with President Bush (90 percent). In Washington, Obama’s supposedly “sweeping” ethics reform — which forces congressmen to eat lobbyist-provided meals standing up instead of sitting down — and his feckless reforms in Illinois make him look the Bambi to Palin’s Godzilla.
Obama’s idea of ethics reform is to mandate clean sheets in the brothel. Palin’s is to tear it down." ~ Jonah Goldberg

Just what the heck does a community organizer really do? Besides hang out with Frank Marshall Davis, William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Tony Rezko, the ACORN crowd, Richard Daley, Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, Khalid al-Mansour, Kwame Kilpatrick, Jimmy Carter, Rashid Khalid.

Comparing Obama to Jesus

Slogan an insult to Christianity

Jesus was not a community organizer, and Pontius Pilate was no elected governor. To say otherwise might seem clever to the self-righteous, but it is actually a form of demonized name calling. It is a putdown of the Christian religion, which views Jesus as redeemer, the Son of God, the perfect Lamb, the only one who lived a life free of rebellion against God, who is therefore able to justify everyone else’s rebellion against God by choosing of his own free will to pay the price for that rebellion. As a community organizer, Jesus was an utter failure. As savior, he performed perfectly. To equate the Roman-appointed, merciless governor of conquered Judea in ancient times with an elected governor in the United States is shamefully shallow. It suggests a desire for ridicule over intellectual honesty. Two thousand years ago, an elite group of men shouted to crucify an innocent man. We say such things could not happen today. I am not so convinced.

Bob Mannel

Church Hill

Some would call the comparison blasphemy. I think we are seeing some very stupid people who actually believe Obama compares to Christ. United Mine Workers President Cecil Roberts used the comparison at Obama's visit here last week. What a nut. One can only guess who Cecil compares himself.

Obama's "no" vote on the IL Senate floor, April 4, 2002

Listen to audio from Obama's 2002 IL Senate floor debate wherein he argued that while babies might be aborted alive, it would be a "burden" to a mother's "original decision" to assess and treat them.

Meanwhile, the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act with a "neutrality clause" added passed the U.S. Senate 98-0, the U.S. House overwhelmingly, and was signed into law August 5, 2002. The pro-abortion group NARAL expressed neutrality on the bill.

2003

Senate Bill 1082, Born Alive Infant Protection Act

Democrats took control of the IL Senate with the 2002 elections. This year Born Alive was sent to the Health & Human Services Committee, chaired by Barack Obama.

As can be seen on the vote docket, Obama first voted to amend SB1082 to add the "neutrality clause" from the federal version of Born Alive to the IL version to make them absolutely identical. (DP#1 means "Do Pass Amendment #1.)

Then Obama voted against the identical version. (DPA means, "Do Pass as Amended.)

Additional corroboration of Obama's vote: IL State Senate Republican Staff Analysis of SB 1082, March 12-13, 2003, bottom of page 2

Check this video from 2000.

Heartbreaking stuff. I don't see how anyone could support this.

Report from Lebanon - U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher said Obama “is a friend of coal"

Crews are working diligently to clean up the bullshit spread around town yesterday.

How many coal miners were there? I for one did not see the navy blue and blaze orange crowd represented. I did not see or hear one coal operator or company represented and not one person challenged anything the One had to say. Not one question about how taxing coal will make it better for miners and their families.

After the fodder talk, the visit is already forgotten as we await McCain and Palin to visit the coalfields. While I'm at it, how about visiting the real coalfields? Lebanon is a farming community, not a mining town. To bad Obama was not talking in Grundy, or St. Charles, that would have been interesting.

Fact Check.org - False Internet claims and rumors fly about McCain's running mate.

Remember the Virginia bloggers who jumped on these stories..

Fact Check~We’ve been flooded for the past few days with queries about dubious Internet postings and mass e-mail messages making claims about McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin. We find that many are completely false, or misleading.

  • Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.
  • She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a "What if?" question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin's first term.
  • She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.
  • Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a "courtesty" when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.
  • Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska's schools. She has said that students should be allowed to "debate both sides" of the evolution question, but she also said creationism "doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."

The left is grasping for anything because they offer nothing. Sarah Palin...Hell Yeah!

Dear Mr Obama

Everyone is posting this because everyone needs to see it.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Obama visits LEBANON (leb-nun) Va - Pro Coal Pro Gun Speech?

Will he talk about people here bitterly clinging to their guns and religion? Will his visit work? Jerry Kilgore says no.

During the teleconference to tout a visit Wednesday to Northern Virginia by Sen. John McCain and his GOP running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Kilgore said Obama “is out of touch” with Southwest Virginians on issues such as coal and gun control.

“Absolutely not,” Kilgore responded to an inquiry if Obama is succeeding at least in neutralizing gun control and coal/economic issues in places like Southwest Virginia.

“His record speaks for itself. He is totally supporting gun control. He has called for a tax on coal. He likes to use fancy words like clean coal technology, but only John McCain has the record supporting clean coal technologies, and we know John McCain will continue that as president,” Kilgore said. “On issue after issue, Barack Obama is just out of touch with Southwest Virginia. His elitism prevents him from relating to small-town America. When he makes statements that rural Americans cling to God and our guns, what message does that send to the people of Southwest Virginia?”~KTN

Obama is wasting time.
