We had a great event at the Woodbridge store yesterday with Ernesto Perez-Carillo. I asked him a professional question, and he recommends a punch for the bigger ring gauges.
I like to punch the larger ring sticks also Mr Young. The only way I cut one is if the draw is tight, and that does not happen often on those bigger sticks.
