Terri Schiavo Dies

Fox News reports Terri has passed away.

This is really sad,

  •   Terri Schiavo (search) died Thursday morning around 10 a.m. EST after her parents had plead with her husband Michael Schiavo to allow them to be at their brain-damaged daughter's bedside in her final hours, a spokesman for the family said.

Michael Schiavo did not allow her family to be with her in her final hours?.....What a *!^!*

Pray for her family.

Terri did recieve Communion

Nathan over atGOPInsight has this:

  •  Fox news has officially announced that Terri was allowed Holy Communion.

I also just got an email from Leslie who is at the hospice ...

Yes but her mouth was too dry to take the host. She apparently took the wine.

Probably just a drop but perhaps it can be used by the Lord to sustain her. Only He knows the end of this terribly sordid story.

Remember..
Jesus said "I am asending to My Father, and your Father. To my God and your God"
John 20:17
Posted by Hello 24Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord."

So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."

26And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" 27Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing."

28And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"

29Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." 30And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Terri will die of thirst.....

From Mark Noonan at GOPBloggers. What happens when you die of thirst.

  • Saliva becomes thick and foul-tasting; the tongue clings irritatingly to the teeth and the roof of the mouth .... A lump seems to form in the throat ... severe pain is felt in the head and neck. The face feels full due to the shrinking of the skin. Hearing is affected, and many people begin to hallucinate... [then come] the agonies of a mouth that has ceased to generate saliva. The tongue hardens into what McGee describes as "a senseless weight, swinging on the still-soft root and striking foreignly against the teeth." Speech becomes impossible, although sufferers have been known to moan and bellow.

Next is the "blood sweats" phase, involving "a progressive mummification of the initially living body." The tongue swells to such proportions that it squeezes past the jaws. The eyelids crack and the eyeballs begin to weep tears of blood. The throat is so swollen that breathing becomes difficult, creating an incongruous yet terrifying sense of drowning.

A good article about Jerry Kilgore from Roanoke.Com.
(excerpt)
  • "Barbara Shifflett-Fridley may have little in common with the Republican politicians who stood on a stage with her Tuesday morning at the Wyndham Roanoke Hotel. But the Harrisonburg woman's endorsement of Jerry Kilgore may be just as powerful as those the gubernatorial candidate has received from elected GOP officials throughout the state. Shifflett-Fridley is a victim of domestic violence whose two daughters, ages 14 and 4, were killed in 1999 by the man who had abused her. The killer, Daniel Zirkle, was convicted of capital murder and executed in 2002."
This is a good read and another good endorsement for Jerry Kilgore.

Supreme Court Rejects Terri Schiavo Case

I have not posted much about Terri Schiavo. This is a heart wrenching case that in my opinion will continue for a long time even if Terri is allowed to die. It is also my opinion that the truth of what Terri really wanted will never be known. I am sure being starved to death is not what she wanted. Terri's case has opened eyes everywhere. The issue that hits home for me is not who has the power (husband or parents), but is starvation the proper way to go. In America there are people tried everyday over starving animals and pets. Inmates on death row are provided food and water, yet we allow a woman to starve. This makes Abu Gharib look like paradise.
It has been said that "If Terri was a criminal..If Terri was a dog.." this would not happen. That is the sad fact most Americans see. Americans have learned the importance of Living Wills. I don't have the answer, but this makes sense to me.

  • "But this whole ordeal can end right now if Michael Schiavo simply stops the litigation. He should stand up and say that he tried to implement his wife's wishes, but the greater good is now served by allowing her family to care for her as they want to do.The family could then raise private funds to keep Terri alive and whatever happens, happens. What is the downside of doing that? Michael Schiavo keeps his thesis that Terri did not want extraordinary care, but shows compassion. And Terri's family gets to keep her alive. Again, where's the downside? So do that, Michael Schiavo. Rise above the bickering. Your wife can't feel anything. A miracle could happen. There is no more money involved. And you come off as a good guy. Otherwise, Terri Schiavo's going to die, the allegations and hatred will continue, and who wins with that? Nobody."

Kilgore draws large crowd at Gate City (Video)

The crowd at Gate City to hear Jerry Kilgore was large. I could not guess how many people there were in that gym. Sen Warner gave a good speech. Sen Allen got the crowd fired up! Kilgore covered all the issues in his speech. Kilgore suggested voter approval of tax increases. This will be a huge issue. Fellow ODBA member Norman has this. I was amazed at the crowd size and emotion. This is a great kickoff to a winning campaign. The Commonwealth Conservative was in the house and posted this. Mr.Behan later reports the crowd was over 1000! To find out about future events go here.

See the Video Here. Indeed!

They both love how Jerry Kilgore talks! HMMMMM...

According to Richmond.com Kaines favorite TV show is The Simpsons. He also likes Dr Pepper...that reminds me of something...
"The best thing about visiting the President is the food! Now, since it was all free, and I wasn't hungry but thirsty, I must've drank me fifteen Dr. Peppers."

Bush Signs Emergency Schiavo Legislation

Bush signs and offers this
  • "President Bush early on Monday signed emergency legislation aimed at prolonging the life of a brain-damaged Florida woman, Terri Schiavo.
  • "Today, I signed into law a bill that will allow federal courts to hear a claim by or on behalf of Terri Schiavo for violation of her rights relating to the withholding or withdrawal of food, fluids, or medical treatment necessary to sustain her life," Bush said in a written statement.
  • "In cases like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. This presumption is especially critical for those like Terri Schiavo who live at the mercy of others," he said.
I believe this is a good thing. I also believe it is not over and will be challenged. Where were the Dems on this? GOPBloggers has this.

Reactionary Dems Block Schiavo Bill

A small group of House Democrats have maneuvered to delay a vote on the bill intended to save Terri Schiavo. They offer no real reasons aside from the fact that the Republicans are in favor of the bill.

Terri Schiavo

The Evangelical Outpost has one of the best articles I've read on Terri.
  • "Today the starving of Theresa Marie Schiavo will begin. Upon the order of the Probate Division of the Circuit Court of Pinellas County, Florida, an innocent disabled woman will have all nutrition and hydration removed in order that she may be killed by the excruciating method of starvation."
  • "Although Schiavo has been incapacitated for fifteen years, the circumstances of her death were forshadowed eight years before her collapse. In 1982, an infant, referred to as "Baby Doe", was born with Down Syndrome and esophageal atresia. A simple, relatively safe surgery could easily have rectified this child's esophagus problem, allowing the child to continue living. Both the parents and their physician, however, agreed that because of the potential "suffering" this child would endure, it would be better to forego surgery and allow the boy to die. Although the decision was challenged, it was upheld by the courts. Baby Doe suffered from starvation and thirst for six days before he finally died."
I encourage you to read it all here.
The Political Teen is on the story, and so is RedState.

Terri Schiavo's Feeding Tube Removed

Sad Day....

From Fox.
  • The feeding tube that has kept a severely brain-damaged Florida woman alive for the past 15 years was removed Friday afternoon.

An attorney for Terri Schiavo's (search) parents, who have led the fight for more than a decade to keep their daughter alive, told FOX News at around 3:20 p.m. EST that the tube had been removed.

A statement on Schiavo's parents' Web site read: "Terri's nutrition and hydration have now been withheld from her. It is unclear if the port that accommodates her feeding tube has been surgically removed as her family was ordered to leave her room."

Jerry Kilgore gets the word out-Tim Kaine a No-Show in Wise.

The campaign for governor in Virginia is on! Jerry Kilgore calls out Tim Kaine on the gas tax.

  • "We must protect the transportation trust fund with a constitutional amendment saying that the money in that fund is off limits to other projects. But let me make one point clear. I will not use the protection of the transportation trust fund as a green light for raising the gas tax. Tonight, I challenge my opponent to declare the same," Kilgore told a gathering of the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce in Staunton late Tuesday.

The former attorney general said that Kaine, the state's lieutenant governor, has reversed his position on the gas-tax topic several times, raising the question of whether or not the Democrat would move to hike the tax in the future. "I want to solidify the transportation trust fund because it's the right thing to do. If money goes into that transportation trust fund, it ought to come out for roads and roads only. It's been five or so different positions on the gas tax from my opponent. Let's be clear on it. If he wants to discuss the gas tax, let's have a debate on it," Kilgore said. (John Behan has this.)

Kilgore also addressed the Potts issue and say's Potts will take Kaine votes, not his.

  • "I don't have a problem with it. I really do believe, and we've seen some evidence of this, that he is taking more votes from Tim Kaine than he is me. And that's what we predicted in the beginning," Kilgore said.

"They're two pro-tax candidates, and they share the same views on a large majority of issues. I am convinced that they're over there," he said, gesturing to his left, "and we're over here," he said, pointing to his right.

Speaking in Staunton Kilgore calls for government reform.

  • In his speech , Kilgore focused on government reform, transportation, economic growth and education. He said he wants to lead an issues-based campaign."I say what I mean and mean what I say," Kilgore told the crowd. He talked about his record fighting a growing gang problem in Virginia and cited the success of programs like Boys & Girls Club at combating the issue. On transportation, Kilgore is in favor of public-private partnerships to improve infrastructure and said much of the state, including Interstate 81, needs investment. He called for a constitutional amendment to protect the Transportation Trust Fund from being used for other needs. On economic growth, Kilgore said the state's economy is growing. In order to encourage greater growth, businesses should not be burdened by excessive taxes or government regulation, Kilgore said. When it comes to education, Kilgore is calling for Virginia to become more competitive with its surrounding states at recruiting and retaining teachers. The top priority should be improving the pay of the best educators, Kilgore said.

This message will carry well in SWVA. As Kilgore gets his message out around the state, Tim Kaine was a No-Show in Wise. About 100 Kaine supporters ( 60 of them will vote for Kilgore when the curtain closes) showed up for pancakes and were informed that Kaine would not be in Wise County because of inclement weather. I will say that the Wise County School system was open and the weather was not that bad. The democrats were upset at this sign. What do they expect from Kilgore's alma mater? Kilgore is a native of SWVA, and as far as I know, Kaine has heard of SWVA, even if he can't come here. Wise County is Kilgore Country!

Molly Hatchet singer Dies

Molly Hatchet singer Danny Joe Brown has passed away.

  •  Danny Joe Brown, the lead singer of the Southern rock band Molly Hatchet, died of complications from diabetes, his family confirmed Monday. He was 53.

Brown died Thursday at his home in Davie, his sister Lyndia Brown said.
He had been in the hospital for about four weeks before he died, and he wanted to come home and he was home for 30 minutes when he died,'' Lyndia Brown told The Associated Press. ``He was surrounded by his children and his wife.''

I saw Molly Hatchet many times and met Danny Joe in Johnson City in the early 80's. RIP Danny.

  •  A king without a sword
    A land without a king
    The truth without a voice
    One song left to sing
    One song to sing

A wise man told me there’s something you should know
The way you judge a man is to look into his soul
    And you’ll soon see everything.

A voice from the past cried give peace a chance.
He paid our price now he’s free at last
And imagine we called him a dreamer.
How many times must good men die?
How many tears will the children cry?
Till we suffer no more sadness
    Stop the madness,
    Oh stop the madness.

If ashes are ashes and dust is dust
And our journey’s end and then we turn to rust
To the sands of the shore
    White doves then fly
    Peace to all
Tell me why the peacemakers fall
    Must we bury anymore

A hush in the crowd as the horse rode by
Black lace veil hid the tears from her eyes
And we all wept in silence
How many times must good men die?
How many times will the children cry?
Till we suffer no more sadness
    Oh stop the madness
    Oh stop all the madness.

Ashley Smith

Ashley Smith is a hero. The WAPO has this.

  •  A new American hero was anointed yesterday, on talk radio and television, in police stations and coffee shops.

Ashley Smith, an anonymous suburbanite last week, burst into the nation's consciousness, lavishly praised as the woman responsible for ending the massive manhunt for the Atlanta courthouse murder suspect. The police chief in Duluth, Ga., where Smith was held captive, crowned her "a champ," and network correspondents and commentators dubbed her "a hero." Her captor, she says, went even further: "An angel sent from God" is what Smith remembers being called by Brian Nichols, the shooting suspect she calmed.

Ashley talked to Brian Nichols about God. Her faith saved her and who knows how many others. God works in mysterious ways.

MSM was harder on Bush than Kerry...We knew that! Gary has this at GOPInsight.

From GOPBloggers "NY Times says Saddam had WMD's" The NY Times had a few interesting points.

  •  BAGHDAD, Iraq, March 12 - In the weeks after Baghdad fell in April 2003, looters systematically dismantled and removed tons of machinery from Saddam Hussein's most important weapons installations, including some with high-precision equipment capable of making parts for nuclear arms, a senior Iraqi official said this week in the government's first extensive comments on the looting.

The Iraqi official, Sami al-Araji, the deputy minister of industry, said it appeared that a highly organized operation had pinpointed specific plants in search of valuable equipment, some of which could be used for both military and civilian applications, and carted the machinery away. Kilgore Leading Kaine

Kilgore leading Kaine in  WSLS-TV poll. John has this at the Commonwealth Conservative.

Excerpt:

  •  Republican Jerry Kilgore leads 46% to Tim Kaine’s 36%, with Russ Potts pulling a whopping 6% of the vote

Thats good news for Virginia!

Is Warner campaigning for Kaine? Not according to Bacons Rebellion. I look for Warner to distance himself from the troubled Kaine.

Soros..A real American Democrat

Speaking in Bin Ladens home town, the number one Democratic Party contributer had some moonbat things to say.

from Newsmax

excerpts:

  •  The Democratic Party's largest financial backer called President Bush's efforts to spread democracy throughout the Mideast "very dangerous"
  •  "There is a sort of fundamental misconception in President Bush's mind," Soros told the 3,000 delegates at the forum. "When Bush says freedom will prevail, he means the American will shall prevail."
  • read all here

What would Soros say about a Syrian pull out of Lebanon? Democracy is a bad thing according to Soros. He believes America is setting up a 51st state in Iraq. Wake up George! The Iraqi people are framing their government, not Bush.
