Supreme Court Rejects Terri Schiavo Case
I have not posted much about Terri Schiavo. This is a heart wrenching case that in my opinion will continue for a long time even if Terri is allowed to die. It is also my opinion that the truth of what Terri really wanted will never be known. I am sure being starved to death is not what she wanted. Terri's case has opened eyes everywhere. The issue that hits home for me is not who has the power (husband or parents), but is starvation the proper way to go. In America there are people tried everyday over starving animals and pets. Inmates on death row are provided food and water, yet we allow a woman to starve. This makes Abu Gharib look like paradise.
It has been said that "If Terri was a criminal..If Terri was a dog.." this would not happen. That is the sad fact most Americans see. Americans have learned the importance of Living Wills. I don't have the answer, but this makes sense to me.

He should stand up and say that he tried to implement his wife's wishes, but the greater good is now served by allowing her family to care for her as they want to do.The family could then raise private funds to keep Terri alive and whatever happens, happens. The only rational explanation for why Michael Schiavo would persist in this way is that he is trying to fulfill Terri's wishes. The downside is years of existence as a mindless shell of her former self, the incarceration of her soul, perhaps, in limbo, the world-wide exposure of those wrenching, dehumanizing pictures and videos. For keeping faith with his wife, Michael Schiavo has endured calumny and slander that no one should have to put up with. I honor his character and the strength of his love.
