This Makes Sense

Why are we in Iraq? This makes the most sense of any explanation I have read. All the 9/11 hijackers and Bin Laden were Saudi's, yet attacking the worlds main supplier of oil was unacceptable. So we have incircled them.

"By then it had identified the jihadist campaign as "a Saudi problem". Most of the September 11 suicide attackers had been Saudis. Bin Laden was a Saudi. Saudi money trails were everywhere. An invasion of Saudi Arabia presented the tactical problem of waging war against a country of vast area and the strategic one of disrupting the world's oil supplies.

The Americans had established and then strengthened a military presence in countries surrounding Saudi Arabia - Yemen, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. Invasion of Iraq would complete the encirclement."

I have said all along the Iraq invasion was deeper than most thought, and was a strategic move for the future. This is a good review of the reasons for going into Iraq. Read it all at ProfessorBainbridge.com: Why Iraq?">Professor Bainbridge.

This is Amazing!!

I read the following and realized that is no wonder why our kids today have no sense of Patriotism. It is a sad day in this country that we cannot teach true history because of that evil word used by our founding fathers in their writings and journals. That dirty little three letter word that causes fear and revolt. The word this country was founded on and sworn by in the Declaration of Independence....The word GOD...
From Reuters at this link.

Declaration of Independence Banned at Calif School Wed Nov 24, 2004 04:12 PM ET
By Dan Whitcomb
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A California teacher has been barred by his school from giving students documents from American history that refer to God -- including the Declaration of Independence.
Steven Williams, a fifth-grade teacher at Stevens Creek School in the San Francisco Bay area suburb of Cupertino, sued for discrimination on Monday, claiming he had been singled out for censorship by principal Patricia Vidmar because he is a Christian.
"It's a fact of American history that our founders were religious men, and to hide this fact from young fifth-graders in the name of political correctness is outrageous and shameful," said Williams' attorney, Terry Thompson.
"Williams wants to teach his students the true history of our country," he said. "There is nothing in the Establishment Clause (of the U.S. Constitution) that prohibits a teacher from showing students the Declaration of Independence."
Vidmar could not be reached for comment on the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday in U.S. District Court in San Jose and claims violations of Williams rights to free speech under the First Amendment.
Phyllis Vogel, assistant superintendent for Cupertino Unified School District, said the lawsuit had been forwarded to a staff attorney. She declined to comment further.
Williams asserts in the lawsuit that since May he has been required to submit all of his lesson plans and supplemental handouts to Vidmar for approval, and that the principal will not permit him to use any that contain references to God or Christianity.
Among the materials she has rejected, according to Williams, are excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, George Washington's journal, John Adams' diary, Samuel Adams' "The Rights of the Colonists" and William Penn's "The Frame of Government of Pennsylvania."
"He hands out a lot of material and perhaps 5 to 10 percent refers to God and Christianity because that's what the founders wrote," said Thompson, a lawyer for the Alliance Defense Fund, which advocates for religious freedom. "The principal seems to be systematically censoring material that refers to Christianity and it is pure discrimination."
In June, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear the case of a California atheist who wanted the words "under God" struck from the Pledge of Allegiance as recited by school children. The appeals court in California had found that the phrase amounted to a violation of church and state separation.

Very sad America...Very sad..

New Video Game Recreates Kennedy Assassination

I dont know what to say about this...

"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A new video game to be released on Monday allows players to simulate the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

The release of "JFK Reloaded" is timed to coincide with the 41st anniversary of Kennedy's murder in Dallas and was designed to demonstrate a lone gunman was able to kill the president.

"It is despicable," said David Smith, a spokesman for Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, the late president's brother. He was informed of the game on Friday but declined further comment."

Whats next..The 9/11 hijack game? or lets Spark Up the compound at Waco? I dont get it, but then again I am getting OLD!!

Canada Wants You!! or Does It?

The crew over at Dust my Broom had this about Democrats wanting to move to Canada.

" It sounds so alluring. Good beer. Cheap Viagra. Hardly any crime. Friendly, if somewhat ineffectual, people. Terrific, if underappreciated, novelists. (This means you, Rohinton Mistry.) Secure borders, courtesy of the U.S. Department of Defense. But before you pack, consider this: There are plenty of reasons not to move to Canada. Let me count the ways "Read it all here.

The article goes on to explain the real Canada. The one who admires our healthcare system,

" We refer you to a recent editorial in The Windsor (Ontario) Star: "A growing number of sick and tired Canadians are beginning to look to the U.S. for ideas on how to improve our failing health-care system. But Kerry, inexplicably, is looking north for health care ideas."

I do not understand anyone wanting to leave the USA because of a loss in the elections. I do believe in freedom so if any Democrat wanting to move needs help packing, email me and I will help.
If money is the reason you are staying in America, don't worry. I am working on fundraising:
DONATE TO THE
SEND THEM DEMOCRATS TO CANADA-CUBA-FRANCE FUND

Never let it be said Kilo was not there to help out! I have visions of TV telethons, maybe a benefit tour with Toby Kieth! Raising millions for the cause! Mikey Moore could film it, as thousands of Democrats get on buses and boats hosted by ELEANOR CLIFT , MAUREEN DOWD , and of course The Weasel PAUL KRUGMAN . The Boss and Cher could provide entertainment for the trip. Oh I am Excited!! I need a cold shower.

Who voted for Bush

The Emerging Democratic Majority WebLog - DonkeyRising

This is interesting, and it is from a Democratic site..Excerpts

"There has been considerable speculation since last Tuesday that President Bush's victory in the presidential election was largely due to improved turnout and support for the president among strongly religious voters. This speculation has been reinforced by the finding in the national exit polls that 22 percent of voters cited "moral values" as the most important issue in the election and the adoption by overwhelming margins of constitutional amendments banning gay marriage in 11 states. But the evidence from the 2000 and 2004 national exit polls does not support this theory. First, there was almost no difference in reported frequency of church attendance between the voters in 2000 and the voters in 2004"

Ok..It was not the Christians..so

"More importantly, between 2000 and 2004, President Bush's largest gains occurred among less religious voters, not among more religious voters. Among those attending services more than weekly and those attending every week, support for Bush rose by 1 percent, from 63 percent in 2000 to 64 percent in 2004. However, among those attending services a few times a month, support for Bush rose by 4 points, from 46 percent to 50 percent, among those attending only a few times a year, support for Bush rose by 3 points, from 42 percent to 45 percent, and among those never attending services, support for Bush rose by 4 points, from 32 percent to 36 percent."

So he gained with less religous voters, But the left still cries " Blame those Christians!!"

"Bottom line: the President made gains across the board among voters, regardless of their degree of religious commitment but he made his largest gains among less religious voters"

The Weasel

wea·sel Pronunciation Key (w z l)n.
1) Any of various carnivorous mammals of the genus Mustela, having a long slender body, a long tail, short legs, and brownish fur that in many species turns white in winter.
2) A person regarded as sneaky or treacherous
3) To back out of a situation or commitment in a sneaky or cowardly manner.
4) Paul Krugman, op-ed writer for the NY Times. Drop him a line at
krugman@nytimes.com
See the Weasel HERE.
On October 29, 2004, Friday, The Weasel wrote
“Just in case, the right is already explaining away President Bush's defeat: it's all the fault of the ''liberal media,'' particularly The New York Times, which, so the conspiracy theory goes, deliberately timed its report on the looted Al Qaqaa explosives -- a report all the more dastardly because it...”
Then on November 2, 2004
The Weasel said
“I always get a little choked up when I go to the local school to cast my vote. The humbleness of the surroundings only emphasizes the majesty of the process: this is democracy, America's great gift to the world, in action.”
“But over the last few days I've been seeing pictures from Florida that are even more majestic. They show long lines of voters, snaking through buildings and on down the sidewalk: citizens patiently waiting to do their civic duty. Those people still believe in American democracy; and because they do, so do I.”

I do too Paul!
“But it's already clear that the people of Florida - and, I believe, America as a whole - have refused to give in to cynicism and spin.”
“Far from being discouraged by what happened in 2000, they seem to realize more than ever - and better than those of us in the chattering classes - what a precious thing the right to vote really is. And they are determined to exercise that right.”
Oh how true …How true!

“Those who govern us seem to have learned little from the 2000 electoral debacle: voting machines are still unreliable, voting officials are still unforgivably partisan.”
“But the public seems to have learned a lesson. Instead of becoming cynical, people seem to have become motivated. After an election in which a few hundred votes” determined the fate of the nation, after four years of an administration that has demonstrated, for good or ill, that it matters a lot who becomes president, citizens know that their votes matter. And they are determined to cast those votes.”

Well said…well said.
“Regular readers won't be in any doubt about who I want to win, though New York Times rules prevent me from giving any explicit endorsement. (Hint: it's the side that benefits from large turnout.) Above all, though, I want to see democracy vindicated, and the stain of 2000 eradicated, by a clean election in which as many people as possible get to cast their votes, and have those votes counted.”
“And all the evidence says that's what the American people want, too. May all of us get our wish.”

So say’eth The Weasel!
All this wonderful stuff coming from ole Weasel face! Would the love last? I mean really, is that not what happened? I agreed with Paul on every bit of this (a first) America has had enough partisan spin..Right? Lets look at Nov. 5th from the same NY Times.
The Weasel said

“ President Bush isn't a conservative. He's a radical - the leader of a coalition that deeply dislikes America as it is. Part of that coalition wants to tear down the legacy of Franklin Roosevelt, eviscerating Social Security and, eventually, Medicare. Another part wants to break down the barriers between church and state. And thanks to a heavy turnout by evangelical Christians, Mr. Bush has four more years to advance that radical agenda.”
Well here’s to ya Paul! Those evil evangelical Christians! You got every wish of democracy that you mentioned. People came out in masses, people voted. Too bad most do not support your views…but I know..we are Idiots. Thanks Paul for showing your true colors. “brownish fur that in many species turns white in winter” just like a weasel.

Moving On

The 2004 election is in the books. I feel I am blessed to have taken a small part in this event, as I have learned so much. This election is one I will never forget. Living in a small mountain town in southwest Virginia, this has truly proved to be a "trip" to say the least. I have made friends all over the country through comments and e mails. Thanks Brian for keeping me inline to others views. Thanks to Scott at The Right Moment for making me laugh and providing info. Thanks to a new friend Robyn for showing me acceptance and making me dream with her words. Thanks to my whole Blogroll, they are all great! Thank you for visiting my blog, and may God bless each of you in life and reward you well.

The Democratic party I once loved has changed. I refuse to believe I have moved from it, but it has moved away from me. If you look at the results from last night, you must conclude that the party is on the wrong track. There needs to be some changes and here are my thoughts on this. First, Get rid of Terry McHateful. He is not a good man, never was. Second, stay away from what the rich Hollywood out of touch fringe has to say. To think Sheryl Crow and P Diddy ( diddy not get out the vote) has anything in common with me or Mr and Mrs average American is crazy. All the star power, all the Soro's money, could not beat Bush, who stood for the most part alone.Third, you must accept the churches and the values they represent. The difference in our culture is we value youth. The ancient cultures value age and experience. After all of Kerry's hype about social security, the seniors came out in great numbers last night to support morals and values. Learn from this. If you want your views accepted, you must respect the other sides views. Last, Gay marriage and abortion. We all know Roe vs Wade will not be over turned. But instead of preaching pro choice, stand for education and responsibility, to reduce this practice. We as Americans must ask why we are not responsible with our bodies. If we are, this practice will grow smaller and both sides will be happy. Support civil unions with all the benefits of marriage, but leave the word marriage out of the agenda;thus, taking away the perceived threat to what marriage is, and has been for thousands of years. You must give a little to receive a little. Stop the hatred and support our country. If you go to the Daily Kos and read the comments there, it is not hard to understand why the party is in decline(if not rock bottom). These comments are not what the democratic party should stand for. If it is, it is doomed. This shows the same mentality of the ones who bomb abortion clinics, and the bottom line is theses attitudes will never be accepted by either side. If last night showed you anything, you should see that Bush won by the largest margin since 88', and that was by a republican too. And what was the factor most voters cited for turning out to vote? Morals. Most democrats are not the fringe you see on KOS and Co. But it is how you are identified by Americans. Think about it.

DAILY KOS CONCEDES

The Daily Kos has conceded. Read the hate filled rant here.
Be warned to wear rubber boots and goggles because the tears are a flying as the storm comes out of OHIO!
And just for everyones info.....Bush breaks all time popular vote total, surpasses Reagan!

I think Bush wins

This is not 2000
There is no reason for Kerry to protest. But he is. So we wait untill every vote in Ohio is counted and Bush will still win. America spoke today, and most of us hear it. Why cant Kerry?

CNN is reporting 98% are in, and guess what...Bush slammed Kerry in the popular vote.
Bush 57,823,344
Kerry 54,208,728

Concede

From Scrappleface
(2004-11-03) -- When John Forbes Kerry took the podium in a Boston hotel ballroom, many supporters expected him to heed the poet's call: "Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage..."
But the veteran-senator disappointed his troops one last time by taking the high road in his concession speech.
"America has spoken tonight," said a stoic Mr. Kerry, "They have chosen strength and integrity over indecision and political opportunism. This landslide victory for my opponent--forgive me, let me call him President Bush-- this victory demonstrates the essential decency and folksy wisdom of a bold and humble people. In all frankness, my candidacy was never anything more than a vitriolic hate-parade, funded by big unions, Hollywood and the trial lawyers."
Mr. Kerry then stunned the assembled party faithful.
"Tonight I step from the spotlight into the shadow of a great and good man," he said. "In doing so, I now join my friends Sen. Zell Miller, former New York Mayor Ed Koch and millions of anonymous Democrats who secretly betrayed their party today for the good of their nation tomorrow. As I did rhetorical battle with President Bush, I found myself respecting him, admiring him and longing to be more like him. From now on, I will say what I mean, mean what I say and act accordingly. Let me sum up now by paraphrasing my mentor, John F. Kennedy--starting tonight, Ich bin ein Bushie."

NOV 2

I voted early today and was in and out in 10 min. There was maybe 50 people, and I was surprised there were no young people there.

Anyway, the polls just closed and I am not posting till tomorrow. This has been a good campaign, but I am disgusted no matter who wins. Thanks to everyone who commented. Have a great night!

I am your leader and I am tough on Terror! Posted by Hello
I just find it hard to believe Kerry is tough on anything. I find it harder to believe terrorists will take his word with the same reverence as President Bush.
Kerry tough? I am scared.....

Kerry "What Should I say Now?"

After the latest Osama tape, Kerry had to conduct a poll to find out what he should say.

LOS LUNAS, N.M. - Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday that Sen. John Kerry's first response to Osama bin Laden new videotape was to take a poll to find out what he should say about it.  "It's as though he doesn't know what he believes until he has to go and check the polls, his finger in the air, to see which way the wind is blowing and then he'll make a decision," said the vice president, who offered no evidence to back up his claim. "George Bush  doesn't need a poll to know what he believes, especially about Osama bin Laden."

The evidence of course is a copy of the polling request. He did not know what to say? Bush sure did. What was once the most powerful terrorist in the world, has been reduced to hiding and making videos. Kerry's polling goes to reason, global test, lets have a summit, get the UN, etc. World approval first-Americas security second.
