Myron Rhodes - Rock Bottom

Myron Rhodes has brought the Virginia blogosphere to all time low. Rock Bottom baby. His comments and attacks need to be condemned by all bloggers and by Emmett Hanger.. From VV:
Today, I received a call from Senator Hanger asking me to contact those who run bloggers4hanger to take down the blog, which I did. Yes, I know who did the blog and will not reveal them even under torture. As for you, Jim, you are a pathetic coward. Anyone who gets on a public roadway intoxicated threatens other innocent people. I’d bet a pinch of snuff, she did it more than twice, and I’m sure Scott knew she had issues. A drunk driver is a drunk driver. Did I mention you are a coward, Jim? If this was a democrat, you’d be all over it like stink on shit. Did I mention you are coward? What I posted today is the tip of the iceberg. Weren’t you George Allen’s doormat? You’d better hope we never meet. You’re a coward, you know that, don’t you? republitarian - May 30, 2007
There is more vile spew if you want to look at his site. To attack family of any candidate is bad enough, but to make threats is another. Is Emmett Hanger this desperate? His silence on this issue is revealing. Where do the elected's such as Hanger, Saxman, Landis stand on this? Email them to find out.
Emmetthanger@aol.com
I never respected Myron's blog. Now, I don't respect Myron. A sad little man. Enjoy your spot light Myron. You have earned it. As a man, any man, what you have done is wrong. I would not spit on you if you were on fire.
With that said, I turn my back on Myron and crew. I predict many will do the same.

A trip out to Wurst Kitchen for sausages. Those red hot Kicker Brats are to die for! Blood Sausage and the sweetest Italian sausage in the world.

Blogger4Hanger-Retreat!!!

Riley has the story about Bloggers4Hanger. Disgusting! He has updated his post saying:
The Cowards for Hanger coalition have apparently deleted all their posts. Fortunately, nothing disappears without a trace on the Internet. Blog Net News has all the hate and vitriol archived Here.

Coward, craven, dastard, funk, poltroon, chicken, yellow-belly..You pick. I saw that Hanger surrogate Myron Rhodes carried the news first. That makes sense if you think about it. Bloggers4Hanger soon followed. A natural progression indeed. Pitiful is the word that comes to mind.

Scott Sayre-Emmett Hanger debate

The Scott Sayre-Emmett Hanger debate at the Blue Ridge Community College went on last night. You can read about that here. In the comments there is this:
He (Hanger) was not prepared to explain why he opposed Delegates Saxman, Kline, or Landes on a regular basis..
We know Emmett. It is because of your greater plan right? At least that is what he would like you to believe. As I pointed out in this post, Delegates Saxman, Kline, or Landes have not endorsed anyone in this race. One can offer many good arguments as to why they would refrain from throwing support to Sayre. The question remains is why they are not endorsing Hanger and his greater plan? I think the above quote explains it well.

Duncan Hunter-A Memorial Day Message

I am late publishing this...From Duncan Hunter
On this Memorial Day, let us remember the Americans who died on the battlefields of the world for us.

You know the Bible tells us “greater love hath no man than he who lays down his life for another.” In the last century alone 619,000 American service members laid down their lives for us. They fought in Bellawood, Guadalcanal, the Chosin Reservoir and Kason Vietnam. Today they fight in places called Fallujah and Baghdad and Kabul.

They are America’s greatest generation. We owe them our heartfelt support and the gratitude of a free nation.

In 1945, a young Marine returned from the South Pacific and he wrote these words to his wife, “I think just to be with your wife and family; to take care of your family every day is your greatest privilege a person can enjoy.”

Sixty-one years later, another Marine returning from a place called Fallujah wrote these words. He said, “At some point in a dangerous environment, you forget about your own safety and you try to take care of your men and you place your own life in the hands of God. But your family, your wife and kids, never leave your mind.”

Families lift our country up. They provide us with fidelity, morality, faith in God and raising the next generation of Americans.

God still loves this nation. We are still a people of character, of faith and courage.
On this Memorial Day, let us thank others who gave us our freedom.

U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter
Indeed.

Will Duncan Hunter Blue Slip the Senate Amnesty Bill

The Hill has the story.
House conservatives are ready to stop the Senate immigration bill in its tracks with a potent procedural weapon should the contentious measure win passage in the upper chamber.
The trump card conservatives may hold is a constitutional rule that revenue-related bills must originate in the House. The Senate immigration measure requires that illegal immigrants pay back taxes before becoming citizens, opening the door to a House protest, dubbed a “blue slip” for the color of its paper.

The bill contains language that all back taxes have to be paid by aliens before they can garner citizenship. All bills that are revenue-related must originate in the House. Will Duncan Hunter lead this fight? I hope so. Expect to hear more about this in the future.

Scott Sayre answers questions on VCAP blog

Scott Sayre has answered the submitted questions on VCAP's The Conservative Voice. Thank you Mr Sayre! Here is my question and his answer.

Kilo-“First let me thank you for giving us your time. My question concerns immigration. With the debate now on a national level, what do you think of your opponents SB 1205(1204?) allowing Illegal Immigrants to get In-State Tuition. Thank you for your time.”

Sayre-Regarding my opponent’s SB 1204. He has tried to pass this through two years in a row. Not only would such a law take our money away to reward illegal behavior, but giving an in-state slot to an illegal immigrant would take the same slot away from your son or daughter! I maintain again that it is not our government’s responsibility to continually offer rewards for illegal behavior. To the contrary, by rewarding illegal behavior in any way, government is continually inviting more of the same behavior. We are a nation of immigrants, but we are a nation of laws also.

Emmett Hanger - I am Popular!

Here is a Emmett Hanger Quote from the New Dominion.
“If the question is whether or not I would run as an independent, I can tell you a very clear, straightforward answer - no, I will not run as an independent. I had that option presented to me several months ago - because some pollsters had analyzed it, some political pundits had taken a look at it, and realized that the irony of it is that in the general public I am now more popular than I’ve ever been at any time that I’ve been involved in politics."
Hmmm..Something here does not make sense. Pollsters presented this option to Emmett because he is so popular? Come on Emmett! Do thou speak with forked tongue? So your pollsters and workers presented you with the option of running as a independent because of your overwhelming popularity?
So far I have not read anything that lauds Emmett's accomplishments. The best we can do is read a couple blogs who have chosen to bash the messengers for Scott Sayre. They have nothing pro Emmett mind you, just simple bashing of the pro Sayre supporters. We can see a Sayre grassroot effort documented daily on various blogs, while Emmett talks about seniority. Seniority? As I commented before, that is like a all you can eat buffet with rotten food.
You can listen to Emmett and Sayre on this podcast. It is painful to hear Emmett struggle to defend himself. Sayre on the other hand has a clear message and he does not mince words. Check it out, you will see a clear difference in the candidates and hear a fresh voice in Scott Sayre. Emmett talks about his seniority and why taxes are necessary. Why illegal immigrants deserve in state tuition and why he will continue to fight for that. Amazing!

The Evil King Coal by Raising Kaine.

Raising Kaine recently endorsed Dan Bowling (VA-HD-003). Tim Kaine has endorsed him also. Today man of the world Lowell has this article about liquid coal and Carbon Sequestration.
Jerry also take a more realistic view in his offering "
The Ethereal vs. Cold Reality"
The goal is to find out Bowling's stance on these two issues. Make sure sure his opponents and the voters are aware that these people raising money for Bowling are blatantly anti coal. The voters and miners, both union and non union deserve to know.

Duncan Hunter on the budget and waste.

Duncan Hunter's basic position statement on a balanced budget.
"I support a balanced federal budget, with additional revenue provided by economic growth, not increased taxes. Further, I support limiting growth in non-defense areas."
I can agree with that one hundred percent. My readers know that I have always said a tax increase is the last resort solution. Cut waste first! Duncan writes about the areas of federal spending that will be priority for reductions and increases:
A balanced federal budget is a priority for our national economic health and long-term prosperity. Throughout my tenure in Congress, I have fought for federal spending to provide for our national and homeland security, as directed by the U.S. Constitution, and funding increases in both of these arenas will be necessary in the future to keep our families safe and secure.
Budgetary savings must be identified through efficiency reforms throughout the federal government. Furthermore, we must aggressively attack the creation and funding of duplicative federal programs, many of which simply do not perform but cost taxpayers millions of their hard-earned dollars. According to Office of Management and Budget, 28% of federal programs are either ineffective or have results that are not demonstrated. Reforming, combining or eliminating those programs remains among my highest legislative priorities.

Indeed. I will add that the 28% number is most likely an underestimate. It kills me to hear the raising taxes come out of a politician's mouth when there is so much waste to be cut out first. Duncan is a cosponsor of the Fair Tax. He believes that securing and protecting our country is the priority of the federal government. He is not afraid to speak out against the RINO's that have overtaken our party. If given the chance, he will lead this country in the right direction.
His campaign could use your help. Duncan is not paying for consultants to change him. He is not spending triple digits on hair cuts. He is using grass root people like you and me to get his message out door to door. If you can give a little cash, it will go for the right things. $20 buys a lot of mailers. We have a chance to put a solid man in the White House. A man with a 26 year record of service. When you read the candidates bio's and records, you see Duncan is unique. Click here to help him out.

Rhubarb Cherry Crunch

Click to Embiggen
The garden is coming along just fine. I'm not going all out this year, corn, onions, tomatoes, peppers and the small lettuce patch you see. I also have my rhubarb patch that is on the left side of the picture. I hate the stuff now, but I loved to chew the raw stalks as a kid. I found this recipe on The Red Queen Affair called Rhubarb Cherry Crunch. It just came out of the oven and the picture shows it is still bubbling! With some Mayfields Vanilla Ice Cream it is very very good. Tart goodness indeed! Click Pictures to Embiggen

California State Senate Passes Transsexual-Bisexual-Homosexual Indoctrination Bill

Just what I wanted to read on a Sunday morning.

Sacramento, California -- Radical legislation mandating that schoolchildren as young as kindergarten learn about and support transsexuality, bisexuality and homosexuality has passed the California State Senate.
SB 777 requires textbooks, instructional materials, and school-sponsored activities to positively portray cross-dressing, sex-change operations, homosexual "marriages," and all aspects of homosexuality and bisexuality, including so-called "gay history." Silence on these sexual lifestyles will not be allowed.(LINK)

Will the Governator veto this bill? It passed on a party line vote, yet not one person took to the floor to speak opposing it. Teach the children well...

Gov Bill Richardson-Will he or Wont he? Debate that is...

I knew the big three democratic candidates refused to participate in the Fox News debate. Hillary (stand by your man) Clinton, John (the hair) Edwards, and Barack (Bong Hit) Hussein Obama have declined the offer. I did not know this:

Four years ago, the leaders of the Congressional Black Caucus began looking for a television outlet to co-sponsor and broadcast a presidential debate to address the concerns of minority voters........Only one news channel made an acceptable proposal, and an unlikely channel at that: Fox News.......... While the withdrawal by the candidates frustrated members of the black caucus, it mollified liberals who had objected to the involvement of Fox News, whose programming includes some of the most conservative and pro-Republican commentary on the air.(LINK)

Democrats should be outraged. The Congressional Black Caucus worked hard on this and to ignore that is rude. I wonder why the candidates wont participate? I mean, what are they afraid of? But anyway, Gov Bill Richardson has not declined or accepted as of yet. He should accept the invite and stand on stage with Joe Biden and Christopher Dodd, as they have accepted the invite to debate. Kucinich has not responded as of yet.

One could say the big three have handed the lower tier candidates a chance to shine. They should debate without the big three. I don't see how this could hurt them. First, the Congressional Black Caucus would appreciate the appearance and support. Secondly, the big three would look like cowards. Can you see Clinton trying to attack Richardson or any other candidate on anything said during the debate she was afraid to attend? Or in any debate after the Fox debate, Richardson referring back to a statement he made in the debate “you three were afraid to attend”...That would be great fun!

I know many of you will say I am crazy. I like watching debates, even those other guy's debates. They are wanting a vote to lead the greatest country on earth and they are scared to debate on Fox? I don't get it. I want to see the democrats on Fox.. Before you ask, you have a better chance of hitting Powerball six weeks in a row than getting me to vote for one of them.

Damn, What a hog!

In this photo released by Melynne Stone, Jamison Stone, 11, poses with a wild pig he killed near Delta, Ala., May 3, 2007. Stone's father says the hog weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9-feet-4 from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail. If claims of the animal's size are true, it would be larger than ``Hogzilla,'' the huge hog killed in Georgia in 2004. (AP Photo/Melynne Stone)

Duncan Hunter on Abortion, Life, Embryonic research

Duncan Hunter is a strong pro life candidate. He is for the Right to Life Amendment. Is giving the innocent the right to live too much to ask? Below is some legislation and positions on the subjects of Abortion, Life, Embryonic research.

1. Right to life amendment:
I would amend the U.S. Constitution and provide blanket protection to all unborn children from the moment of conception by prohibiting any state or federal law that denies the personhood of the unborn. Likewise, I have also introduced the Right to Life Act, which would legally define “personhood” as the moment of conception and, therefore, guarantee all constitutional rights and protections, including life, to the unborn without utilizing a constitutional amendment.

2. Federal laws relating to abortion and human life protections (e.g, embryonic research and end of life, etc.):
There are several areas of federal law that require human life protections. I have cosponsored the following pieces of legislation:

The Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, which would amend the federal criminal code to prohibit transporting a minor across state lines to obtain an abortion, if this action circumvents the minor's native state's parental involvement law. I voted in favor of this bill when it passed the House 270-157 on April 27, 2005.
The Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2005, which would prohibit and criminalize efforts at reproductive cloning.
The Parent's Right to Know Act of 2005, which would prohibit federal funding to carry out federal family planning programs in which service providers in the project knowingly provides contraceptive drugs or devices to a minor, except in specific circumstances.
The Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act of 2006, which would require abortion providers to notify women who want to have an abortion 20 weeks after fertilization that the evidence suggests their unborn child feels pain and they may request anesthesia for their unborn child in order to reduce or eliminate the pain.

I have also supported human life protection efforts with the following votes:

I supported the Fetus Farming Prohibition Act, banning the practice of fetal farming, the creation of embryos specifically for the purposes of scientific research.
• I voted in favor of the Alternative Pluripotent Stem Cell Therapies Enhancement Act, which would direct federal funding to stem-cell research that does not rely on embryos.
• I voted against the Stem-Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005, which would have directed the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct and support research that utilizes human embryonic stem-cells, regardless of the date on which the stem-cells were derived from a human embryo.
• I voted against amendments offered to the National Defense Authorization Act permitting taxpayer funded military facilities overseas to be used to support abortions on demand for military women and military dependents.
• I voted against amendments providing UN funding to groups that support coercive abortion programs.

Duncan Hunter has the strong pro life record I am looking for.

Emmett Hanger – Out of Step

GOP Hokie has some great info up on the Family Foundation Ratings here. Of interest to me was Emmett Hanger receiving a 86. Emmet falls short of real leaders like Chris Saxman, Ben Cline, and Steve Landis who all received 100. It seems Hangers tax vote and school choice votes have cost him and left him out of step with the others. His opponent Scott Sayre is anti tax and pro school choice. GOP Hokie wonders if this will be a issue. Yes, It already is. Sayre has campaigned on the tax and school choice platform.
This leaves me wondering why Saxman, Landis, and Cline have not endorsed Sayre? It seems his platform is more instep with them than Hanger. But, they have not endorsed the incumbent Hanger either. Go figure.

PATRIOT PERSPECTIVE-Immigration starts at the border or press two for compromise

This weeks Patriot Perspective is about immigration. The article is top notch a usual. If you are a conservative and you are not reading the Patriot Post you are missing out. They publish three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Mark M Alexander does a wonderful job with this Fridays edition. What does Mark think of the new Senate bill? Here is a taste:

This asinine legislation will be no more effective than the last “comprehensive” reform attempts—the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act and its predecessor, the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act—because like the previous legislation, the current version does not start by securing our borders.

Conservative estimates are that every day, about 3,200 illegal aliens (more than 96,000 of them each month) cross from Mexico into the U.S.

Any debate about immigration is useless unless it begins with a commitment to secure our southern border and coastlines. Moreover, as Ronald Reagan declared, “A nation without borders is not a nation.”

Rep. Duncan Hunter, a longtime advocate of border security first, notes: “If we have border enforcement, we will be able at that point to start to regulate the internal problem. As long as you’ve got a revolving door—a 2,000-mile porous border, there is no way to regulate immigration. We need to build the border fence. We need to have a Border Patrol which is big enough to get the job done, and we need to demand [that those who] want to come into America, knock on the front door, because the back door is going to be closed.”

Of the 700 miles of border fencing Congress authorized last year, a grand total of two—yes two—miles have been completed.

Now go read the whole article by clicking here. I promise you wont be disappointed! It is no wonder Alexander won 2007 CPAC Award for Grassroots Journalism. Friday's edition called The Digest is divided into five segments:The Patriot Perspective-Government & Politics-National Security-Business & Economy -Culture. There is something for every interest. A couple funny segments today:

Quote of the week - “I promised the President today that I wouldn’t say anything bad about... this piece of s**t bill.” —Rep. John Boehner on compromise
The BIG lie - “This is a good bill. This is a deserving bill. This is a balanced bill, and I believe it is fair to the best interests of the United States of America.” —Sen. Dianne Feinstein

Are any of my fellow bloggers Patriot Post readers?

A Border Stampede

“When we pass a bill that gives people the impression that there are new benefits to be had in the United States... you will have a stampede for the U.S. border that will overwhelm our border forces.” —Duncan Hunter

I think history supports that statement. Build the Hunter Fence! This hits the nail on the head.
“Today, all too many Americans feel like aliens in our own country—strangers in a strange land... They’re the second and third-generation Americans—whose ancestors came here legally, and learned our language, identified with our history and heritage, and were proud and grateful to call themselves Americans—who are now asked to press one if they wish to continue in English.” —Don Feder

Thursday, May 24, 2007

Will this happen?

Will conservatives leave the GOP? A very interesting article.

"The GOP is on a downward course to becoming the party of corporate globalism, not conservatism," said one analyst recently. "Unless Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul or Duncan Hunter receives the 2008 nomination, conservatives will have no choice but to vote third party," said another.

Some of the information is disturbing. A lot of what is said is true. Do I agree or disagree? I don't know yet. This short read will take a while to digest. Is this true?

Many do not realize it, but terrorism is primarily an immigration issue, as they are beginning to discover in the U.K. Three of the terrorists recently nabbed in New Jersey (plotting to attack Ft. Dix) were illegal immigrants who entered the U.S . from Mexico and were aided by Mexicans. Over 200,000 Hispanics in the U.S. have recently converted to Islam. And almost all previous terrorists, including those on Sept. 11, were either legal or illegal third-world immigrants. If Seung-Hui Cho had not been allowed to immigrate to the U.S., the Virginia Tech massacre would not have happened.”

I added the bold print. This is a troubling piece to read. I think I will have a drink.

Wall of Honor Picture

“A Soldier's Prayer” (Click here to listen)
(Larry Walker, Tommy Oliver)
One hot desert morning at dawn's early light
While trudging through the sand
I found a piece of paper
Clutched in a young man's hand

And upon that paper the words he wrote
Were not filled with despair
Just thoughts from the heart of a brave young lad
He called it, “A Soldier's Prayer”

I took the paper from his hand and read it aloud...

Will there be a place in heaven
For a person such as me
Who, through youth and the love for life
Isn't all you'd have me be?

I've been a man but a short time now
And I'll ask you this, if I might
Isn't fighting for freedom's cause
A fight that's always right?

The men I've killed, some things I've done
Are not things I've wanted to do
But a job I believe had to be done
By we who believe in you

I had those thoughts upon my mind
When I heard that deadly sound
Then, all around me, one by one
My friends fell to the ground

Somehow I knew before it hit
Fear ran up my spine
I felt the blast tearing my side
I knew this one was mine

There'll be much grief for loved ones at home
when they learn that I am dead
Please ease their pain and let them know
These things that I have said

Time's run out, I can feel death's sting
Oh, God, please hear my plea
Let there be a place in heaven
For a person such as me

Lord, this is the chaplain, I'm here with this lad
Our country's given the finest it had
We who are older and have studied your word
Know this boy's prayer is more than just heard

It is answered with your love
And the promise that there'll be
A special place in heaven
For a person such as he

Tim Kaine Wants More Gun Laws

This did not take long. Tim Kaine wants more gun laws. Tim Kaine cant say why he wants them. Tim Kaine cant prove any new law will reduce or prevent crime. Tim Kaine has a plan:

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine said Tuesday he is hopeful the General Assembly will overcome its affection for firearms and adopt changes to the commonwealth’s gun and ammunition laws in response to the April 16 murders at Virginia Tech.

Kaine would not discuss specific changes he would like to see or legislation he thinks would be palatable.(LINK)

Tim Kaine may want your ammo also. Get this:
In general, Kaine said, he is troubled that Virginia law allows any individual to stockpile ammunition with no way for authorities to monitor the cache. Seung-Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech gunman, began his rampage with 377 rounds of ammunition, according to police.
Kaine may want to limit the amount of ammo I have? It sounds that way to me. He also wants me to have only one bullet and keep that in my pocket like Deputy Fife. While 400 rounds of ammo may seem like a lot to some people, sportsman know how fast that can go. When I sport shoot my pistols and target practice 400 rounds are gone before lunch. Please leave us law abiding gun owners alone sir.

Scott Sayre to blog at VCAP

Scott Sayre will be blogging over at The Conservative Voice. I am pleased to see him participate in the blogosphere.
In a related story. Republitarian invited Sayre to live blog there. Myron got his panties in a bunch because Sayre would not reply. Enter the Whackjobs and Boogers4Hanger with rude comments, talk of Sayre being scared and such. Now we see Myron admitting Sayre replied promptly and he claims it was a "spam filter" problem. (He should hire Waldo to work on that for him) I think we have a NLS Weenie of the Week and the boogers4hanger are entitled to a slice of pie

I applaud Attorney General Bob McDonnell for his hard work on this. He is a veteran himself, with a daughter who served in Iraq and I hear this project was of the utmost importance to him. I plan to visit the wall when I am in Richmond. The families will be in my thoughts and prayers today, along with all the brave men and women serving our country. May God bless and protect them.

The State Trooper and the Porn Star

This has to qualify as dumb news. State trooper pulls over a woman and she admits to having pills in the car. Woman tells trooper she is a porn star...

Moss' citation does not mention finding any illegal narcotics in the car.
When the officer told her a drug charge would mean she could not leave the state, Cummings replied that would be a problem because she frequently travels from Tennessee to Los Angeles for her work.
"I tell him I make dirty movies," Cummings wrote. "He says he wished he had gotten into that industry."
The pair then watched sex videos from her Web site using Moss' laptop computer in his patrol car, she wrote. He took the pills and scattered them in the brush beside the highway. "Then he asks me, what does it cost for someone like me to get anything like you," LINK TO FINDLAW

You get the picture. What was he thinking? Wait, I guess we know what he was thinking.

Jeff Burton's New Colors

They have finally changed the logo on Jeff Burton's ride. After the long and ugly court battle, the judge ruled NASCAR could not prevent the AT&T logo. You can read about that here. So the little Cingular man is gone! Burton finished 4th in the Challenge last week. He is sitting 5th in the points chase.

Democrats in Control - 26% say Good Job? Next move-RETREAT!

The Democratic controlled congress made huge gains this month. They now have a whopping 26% of Americans who think they are doing a good job. Get a grip Dem bloggers, your congress is failing.
We also see that the promised time line for withdrawal in Iraq made by many Democrats has been traded for a minimum wage increase. Feingold is beside himself!

The agreement with the White House and Republicans would be tied to approval of as much as $20 billion in domestic spending sought by Democrats, as well as an increase in the minimum wage. Republican leaders said that would be hard for some lawmakers in their party to accept, but that they would probably allow it in exchange for the war spending.
The Democratic leaders’ concession infuriated one of their own, Senator Russell D. Feingold of Wisconsin, who failed last week in his attempt to win passage of a measure that would have cut off money for the war next spring.
“I cannot support a bill that contains nothing more than toothless benchmarks and that allows the president to continue what may be the greatest foreign policy blunder in our nation’s history,” he said. “There has been a lot of tough talk from members of Congress about wanting to end this war, but it looks like the desire for political comfort won out over real action. Congress should have stood strong, acknowledged the will of the American people, and insisted on a bill requiring a real change of course in Iraq.”

The chest pounding of the Democrats after the election is now showing the ugly truth. When it comes to leading a nation they cry No Mas!

More Democratic Hypocrisy

After all the promises made by democrats about better ethics we see this.
WASHINGTON (AP) - House Democrats rejected a Republican bid Tuesday to reprimand Rep. John Murtha, a senior lawmaker accused of threatening legislative reprisals against a GOP member who had crossed him.
Before and after the largely party-line vote, which caused some Democrats discomfort, Republicans taunted Democratic leaders about their campaign promises to run a more ethical and open Congress. The House voted 219-189 to kill the Republicans' motion to reprimand Murtha, a Pennsylvania Democrat, Iraq war foe and close ally of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. LINK

The pork loving Murtha charge across the House floor at Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich because Rogers " had tried unsuccessfully to strike a $23 million Murtha earmark — a targeted spending item — for a drug intelligence center in Murtha's district." Thats right, a Republican trying to cut spending enraged the idiot Murtha. I wish Murtha would show that same rage against our terrorist enemies in Iraq.

Thomas Jefferson would love Duncan Hunter's Immigration plan

Born in other countries, yet believing you could be happy in this, our laws acknowledge, as they should do, your right to join us in society, conforming... to our established rules. That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular.” —Thomas Jefferson

Mr Jefferson was clear when he said “conforming... to our established rules” How does one say they are conforming to our rules when they entered our country illegally? I had some comments about Fred Thompson basically saying we cant send all the illegals back. I say horse hockey to that. You implement Duncan Hunters border plan and stop the influx of border crossings, then fine the living hell out of anyone employing or aiding illegals, and they will line up to go back.

Every family which has been touched by the tragedy of terrorism and illegal drugs has a stake in Duncan’s Fence.”

- Muriel Watson, Border Control Activist

Duncan Hunter has built 59.25 miles of Border Fence, reducing crime on the border. He stopped the drive-thru smugglers. I know I can count on Duncan to continue leading the fight to secure the border.”

Duncan Hunter - Kelo

"I am deeply concerned with the Supreme Court's 5-4 decision greatly broadening local government's use of eminent domain in Kelo vs. New London and believe it is important that Congress protect the property rights of private landowners and curb the government from excessive regulatory takings. It is for this reason that I voted in favor of expressing the grave disapproval of the House of Representatives regarding the majority opinion in the Kelo case.
Additionally, I cosponsored H.R. 3268 (Gingrey-GA), the Eminent Domain Tax Relief Act of 2005, which abolished the capital gains tax on private property taken by the government through eminent domain. I also voted in favor of a legislative amendment Congressman Scott Garrett (R-NJ) offered to H.R. 3058, the FY2006 Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, the Judiciary, the District of Columbia, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act, prohibiting federal funding from being used to improve or construct infrastructure support on lands acquired through the use of eminent domain of private property for private development."

Another reason I am supporting Duncan Hunter. Kelo is a huge issue for this generation. Feel free to comment with your thoughts or your candidates views or legislation on this subject.

McCain Throws a fit on Mitt...Thompson No Comment....Duncan Hunter Stands tall!

This is good!
John McCain accused presidential rival Mitt Romney of flip-flopping on immigration Monday and said with sarcasm: "Maybe his solution will be to get out his small varmint gun and drive those Guatemalans off his lawn." McCain also criticized Thompson for opposing the measure but didn't get nearly as personal as he did with Romney.
"I was a little disappointed in Fred because, again, he had a different position not that long ago," McCain said in the conference call. "But since he's not a declared candidate, I think that Fred will be able to articulate his position."
Heh. So Fred Thompson has changed his position or flip flopping?
In a statement last week, Thompson said: "We should scrap this bill and the whole debate until we can convince the American people that we have secured the borders or at least have made great headway."But in a TV interview in 2006, Thompson appeared to advocate a comprehensive approach to dealing with the 12 million people living in the country illegally because deporting all of them "is not going to happen."
A Thompson aide did not return a call seeking comment.

Just another reason I am supporting Duncan Hunter. He has this great article today at Human Events - If We Build it They Won't Come by Rep. Duncan Hunter.
It’s much tougher than it should be to secure America’s borders. While the technology and manpower are all within reach, what seems beyond our grasp is the ability to act. Take last year’s legislation calling for construction of 854 miles of fence on our Southern border.

It’s all too obvious that America is under threat because its land borders are largely porous and unprotected. In response last year Congress passed, and the President signed into law, legislation calling for the construction of those 854 miles of border fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border. Despite this legislative mandate by the U.S. Congress, the Department of Homeland Security recently announced its intention to build only 370 miles of fencing along the border, not the 854 miles required by the legislation.
Read It All. Watch Romney and Thompson morph into Duncan Hunter's secure border policy. Duncan gets it! Watch the others follow. I want a leader..not follower.

Emmett Hanger – Russ Potts

Will Hanger run as a independent if he loses the primary? Andrew Clem, a Hanger supporter writes:
"I expressed guarded hope that the party will come back together after the June 12 primary, and cast doubt on the idea that Sen. Hanger might run as an independent candidate if he loses to Scott Sayre. Of course, that will depend in part on whether the campaign stays relatively clean."

Interesting statement Clem. My money is on Sayre winning the primary and Hanger pulling a Potts with Myron as his bus driver and Pottsie on board for moral support. Where will Clem be?

Duncan Hunter-The Right Stuff Express

Duncan Hunter kicked off his Right Stuff Express tour of South Carolina yesterday. I nice speech at the Beacon and a Larry King interview after.
Hunter today kicked off his "Right Stuff Express" tour of South Carolina with perhaps the most popular supporter of his presidential campaign, Gen. Chuck Yeager. Yeager, whom Hunter introduced as "the greatest pilot in the history of the world," was the first man to break the sound barrier. Link

I wrote about Yeager endorsing Hunter here. He has known Duncan for years because his son and Duncan played together as kids, and later joined the military together. Gen Yeager takes this shot at Rudy:
"It seems like everyone running for the White House thinks they can buy their way in. (But) you've got to have some talent. I hope people have enough sense to vote for Duncan Hunter, and not someone who couldn't even keep the streets of New York clean," Yeager said, taking a swipe at former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani during a speech Monday night at the Beacon Drive-In restaurant. "knock on the front door, because the back door is going to be closed"

“This administration has a case of the slows on border enforcement. If we have border enforcement, we will be able at that point to start to regulate the internal problem that we’ve got. Because as long as you’ve got a revolving door and you have no border—and this 2,000-mile porous border, incidentally, is our biggest homeland security problem; it’s not just an immigration problem, it’s a homeland security problem—we need to build the border fence. We need to have a Border Patrol which is big enough to get the job done, and we need to be able to ask people when they want to come into America, knock on the front door, because the back door is going to be closed.” —Rep. Duncan Hunter

The back door is closed! That is what I am talking about. In 1994 Duncan introduced
H.AMDT.519 (A021)Amends: H.R.4092 that added 6000 border patrol agents.

You Can Have Your Cake But Not If You Eat It First

Our come back again type readers know that here at Spark It Up HQ we are always searching for the next "oh my god, this is beyond incredible" recipe. Today I found a real doozy and decided that it is so amazing that I have to share it. Call it karma I guess. I pass on good recipes to you and I just keep finding more better then ever before stuff. I hate to admit it but I have dug in before it has even cooled or before anyone else even knew I had made it. It is gonna be a huge hit here- even with a really big corner of it missing.

I found this while surfing through allrecipes.com and have to thank GG because this is ... well, I would tell you but I just went back for another spoonful and momma told me to not talk with my mouth full. Enjoy and remember to lift a toast of that Jim Beam to my favorite, Kilo, when you are pouring for this cake.

Secret Midnight Moon Better than Chocolate Sex Cake
Submitted by: GG
This recipe was modified from several that I found at the Cake Recipe site, some of it is taken from the recipe for Secret Cake, but it has other random ingredients. It's very, very nice, moist and chocolaty. And the name is a random conglomeration of words from the various recipes that I used to come up with this one.

Yields: 24 servings

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups self-rising flour
2 cups white sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup whiskey (only Jim Beam is used here)
4 fluid ounces strong brewed coffee

1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup buttermilk
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan with cooking spray.
2. Combine flour and white sugar in a large bowl and set aside.
3. Put 1/2 cup buttermilk into a large glass and add baking soda, stir until combined, set aside.
4. In medium sauce pan over medium heat combine water, shortening, 1/2 cup butter and 4 tablespoons cocoa. Stir until shortening and butter are melted. Allow to boil on medium heat for 5 minutes.
5. Add chocolate mixture to dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Add buttermilk baking soda mixture, stir until blended. Add eggs and mix. Add the whiskey and the espresso and keep mixing. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and mix well. Pour into a 9 x 13 inch pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
6. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 minutes.
7. To Make Frosting: Combine 1/2 cup butter, 1/3 cup buttermilk, and 3 tablespoons cocoa in medium sauce pan, allow to come to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and add confectioners sugar and mix well, add 1 teaspoon vanilla and chopped nuts. Pour over hot cake. Allow cake to cool. The longer this sets, the better it gets

Chris Saxman makes the editorial page of my local paper

Chris Saxman hits the editorial page of my local paper in this editorial by Andrea Hopkins. The subject is school choice and vouchers.
"Competition makes schools better. Look at higher education in Virginia. It’s diverse, accessible and affordable," Saxman said. "Everyone supports choice in higher education, but not in K-12."

The Roanoke Times could use a editorialist like Hopkins. I don't agree with her all the time, but she is coherent and fair. Saxman shines in this piece and Hopkins uses common sense in reviewing his argument. She concludes:
School choice isn’t a panacea that will fix all that ails public schools, but neither is pumping an unlimited amount of money into the status quo – which too often leaves lower-income children in rural communities and the inner-city trapped in failure. Those with money and clout already have the ability to move to a better school district, get waivers to attend different public schools or pay for a private education. Saxman wants everyone to have a choice. Virginia should hear him out.

Indeed.

Speed Kills

This is something I have always known. While drunk drivers get all the huge fines and press, speed kills.
While alcohol-related accidents and deaths may receive more attention, speed-related accidents kill more people "” about 10 each week "” in North Carolina, according to a The News & Observer
report by Pat Stith, Mandy Locke and David Raynor.
"But while state legislators and court officials have gotten tough on drunken drivers, they have eased up on speeders."

I am not saying drunk drivers are unfairly punished, I am saying speeders are getting off easy. There is a little hypocrisy being shown by us and our law makers ya think? DUI bad...Speeding not so bad.

Emmett Hanger – Emmett the Taxer Loved by All?

More bad news for incumbent taxer Emmett Hanger. Elle reports "Predicament for Hanger in Augusta County"....It does not stop there. Emmett the Taxer is getting slammed when it comes to endorsements from unit chairs. Greene County has endorsed Scott Sayre in the primary. The unit chair Gary Lowe has also endorsed Sayre. That makes it 7 out of 8 chairs endorsing Sayre over Emmett the Taxer. The Sayre support is on a roll my friends! Emmett the Taxer can gleefully glow about his new found support from the Whackjobs and Dr. Clem. The Dog reminds me not to leave out the most important part of Team Emmett-The Waterboy!Myron as The Waterboy

Duncan Hunter - 2nd Amendment and More!

Sen. H.L. "Bill" Richardson (ret.) served 22 years (1966-1988) in the California senate. He authored two books, Slightly to the Right and What Makes you Think We Read the Bills? He is also a blogger! He is the founder of Gun Owners of California and Gun Owners of America. He has a great article supporting Duncan Hunter here. This man knows Duncan well.

"I've personally known Duncan Hunter for over thirty years, both as a fellow conservative legislator and a big game hunting companion. We have bow hunted mule deer in the high desolate mountains of Nevada and stalked elk in deep snows of Montana."

He compares Duncan to Theodore Roosevelt. He writes:

"If Congressman Hunter is successful in his run for the presidency, I wouldn't be surprised if sometimes he will be compared with Theodore Roosevelt, since both have much in common. Both are avid hunters and practical conservationists. Both believe and were active in building a strong military. Both are war veterans and both had sons in active combat. Both believe and were active in protecting our borders. Both are outspoken on key issues and both are willing to confront militarily Muslim extremists. Both are fearless and have a proven love for our country. The more one investigates the lives of these two men, the more one finds what they have in common. Americans who believe the Second Amendment is crucial to freedom, especially hunters, aren't easily fooled by the campaign ads of candidates who take off their suit coat and tie, pull on a newly purchased hunting coat, stand out in a local field and hold a rifle or shotgun for the news cameras. Posing for these "pro-gun" commercials doesn't make a candidate a "pro-gunner." It takes a deep understanding of the Constitution and years of voting and speaking out to protect our rights. And it doesn't hurt to really be a hunter, shooter, or collector of guns. Congressman Duncan Hunter is all of these things and would serve our nation well as President."

Indeed. Read it all here. Duncan Hunter has a “A” rating from the GOA. The GOA has a page devoted to all the presidential candidates here. It is worth a look if you are a gun lover. Lets take a look at what the GOA has about the top dogs.

Fred Thompson - In total, GOA tracked 33 votes in the U.S. Senate while Thompson was there. He voted pro-gun 19 times.

Rudy - So, if the new Rudy Giuliani in fact supports state's rights in the area of gun control, it is a dramatic shift from the policies he has been advocating for over a decade.

This flirtation with federalism is merely a facade, however, for in the recent interview with Sean Hannity, Giuliani assured gun owners that he supports only gun control laws that are "reasonable and sensible." He then went on to defend his support of the Brady bill and the semi-auto ban, which are neither.

Romney - As he travels through the South -- contemplating a run for the presidency -- Mitt Romney sounds like the modern-day incarnation of John Wayne.

He tells shooters how he used to hunt rabbits as a boy. He visits with attendees at gun shows, impressing them with his knowledge of the Bill of Rights. He quotes the "right to keep and bear arms" language from memory and assures gun owners he's on their side. But wait, isn't this the same Mitt Romney -- the former governor of Massachusetts -- who boasted that his view on firearms was "not going to make me the hero" of the gun lobby?

McCain- Arizona Senator John McCain is running for President (again). He has been courting various conservative leaders in his quest to secure the Republican nomination. McCain wants voters to believe that he is a conservative... but his record would certainly suggest otherwise. Take, for instance, his record on gun rights and political speech affecting Second Amendment activists. Abysmal, wretched, and pathetic are words that come to mind.
