The party of freedom and human rights are on the right track to healing the divide in this nation. As most of the world is in awe of the brave Iraqi people and their cry for democracy, Kerry is flipping and flopping on NBC. Power blogger Kos remained silent as the moonbats barked.

Polls close in Iraq....Can you Hear Me Now? (LAST UPDATE FOR THE DAY)

Can you hear me now? It looks like a great turnout in Iraq! Some are saying over 70%...WoW. I watched the coverage most of the night, democracy being born. People braving extreme danger to vote and declare their own jihad against tyranny! Can you hear me now? I posted earlier that I expected over 50% to vote. To argue whether the Iraqi’s want democracy now is futile. I never dreamed in my lifetime I would see democracy in a Middle Eastern country. The polls are closed and I feel lucky to have witnessed this event. The big question now is “What is Iran thinking? What is Syria thinking? Will democracy spread?”

If you open your doors and listen real hard….you can hear the people of Iraq cheer as democracy and freedom are born….If you turn your head a little, you can hear Boxer-Kennedy, and most of Hollywierd cry and moan. The people of Iraq stood Boxer-Kennedy, and most of Hollywierd up straight….and kicked them right in the *&^%$#@. To all those “ Iraq don’t want us-they wont help theirselves”…can you hear me now? Can you hear Iraq?

What a profound statement. With every network reporting over 70% voter turnout, Kerry cries fraud. I predicted this here.
What a moonbat! Look at it this way. Millions of people show up to vote amidst terror and death threats and the Democrats question the process. Is that sad or what? A great post. They were all for protecting the Iraqis from our bombs, but where are they to shield them from the insurgents??? I hardly ever post whole quotes….but this is worthy.

Here we are on the doorstep of history and insurgents want to kill those exercising their God-given rights to be free. I'm curious where those so-called courageous human shields are hiding. Afterall, this is what their website says about their mission:

"On the 25th of January, 2003 thirty human shield volunteers and three double-decker buses left London to pick up other volunteers throughout Europe on their way to Iraq. At their peak in Iraq they numbered close to 700... when Iraq was invaded human shield volunteers would place themselves at strategic sites critical to the well-being of Iraqi civilians in order to make the bombing of these sites politically untenable."

So I ask, why aren't you folks at the Iraqi polling places today?

Because it never really was about the "well-being of the Iraqi civilians" was it? There is no America-bashing to be gained by placing yourselves at "strategic sites" today is there? There is only danger... the danger each and every Iraqi citizen is going to face if they wish to cast a ballot.

I'm sure the Iraqis thank you for your valiant attempts at trying to prevent today from ever happening. Perhaps you should return to ask them about it.

They are voting in Iraq

The voting has started in Iraq. It is early and I expect the turn out will increase. No violence is being reported as of this posting.

The attack on the U.S. Embassy was caught on film by a drone flying above. The drone followed the attackers and now we have seven in custody. I will be up most of the night, changing channels and reading blogs from Iraq.

12:30am: Bombing at polling place. Early reports say 1 Iraqi police killed.

Fox is showing video of heavy turn out in Mosul and some town west of Baghdad. A lot of women and they seemed thrilled with the right. It is still early but my hopes are still high that a good turn out will occur. They are updating the earlier bombings. No civillians killed. This amazes me that this is happening and people are still voting! Think about that.....Another big thing is the security at the polling places are Iraqi forces...Wow! They should be on the look out for Boxer and Kennedy...you never know! LOL

Election Time in Iraq

The hour is here. The polls open this weekend. Fox News is reporting jets flying over and 50 caliber fire is ringing out. This all happening as we close in on catching Zarqawi. The people in Iraq face a huge choice this weekend. They have been threatened by the insurgents if they vote. I still believe over 50% will show up to declare freedom at the polls. The sad thing about this election is that even if 80% show up to vote and we catch Zarqawi, it will still not be good enough for the MSM and Boxer-Kennedy and company. They will find fault, cry fraud, kick and scream. I use the 50% number for good reason. After our own election the Democrats cried about almost 50% not supporting him. If 50% vote in Iraq despite being told they and their families would be murdered, you Democrats must lend your ear. If half the registered voters show up, facing death to obtain democracy, what will be your excuse?

I myself wonder at the courage these people have. Most Americans wont go out to vote if it is raining. In Iraq it could be raining bullets. We as Americans, as does the world, have a chance to see democracy being born. Born out of blood, out of tears, and out of sacrifice. If this dream of freedom for Iraq is realized, and democracy is born, America and its allies shall be long remembered. How will Kennedy and Boxer be remembered? France and Germany? The big thing to them is how will Bush be remembered. They want failure in Iraq as much as Zarqawi. Say a prayer tonight for our troops as lives will be lost. Also say a prayer for the people of Iraq who brave the danger to vote. I ask: would you?

Who else is opposing our actions in Iraq? Who's very name rings of DEMO-cracy….Pretty clear if you think about it. A Great man once said:

Iraq election blogging and the Blogoshere and a little Virginia politics too.

Rice was confirmed after a dozen or so Democrats grandstand and complain. This process should have been completed last week in 10 minutes. 85-13 was the vote count. I don't think many people were impressed with honest Ted ( Chappaquiddick ) Kennedy and Grand Wizard Byrd questioning Rice’s honesty.

• Sore losers
• Shortly before the vote Wednesday, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., suggested that Democrats opposed to Rice were sore losers from the November presidential election. Pointing out that Democrats were opposing Rice despite the certainty that she would be confirmed, McCain said, "I can only conclude that we are doing this for no other reason than because of lingering bitterness over the outcome of the election."
• The election in Iraq is a few day’s away. It will be very interesting to watch the events unveil. Michelle Malkin has a good post about the many iraqi bloggers and even a web cast showing the events of the day.
• The Commissar orders you to sign the card! This is a thank you card to our troops. 9 million have signed the card so far. We as a country can do better than that. Say thank you HERE.

Virginia Politics are turning ugly. Mr. Behan had this a few day’s ago about the Kaine hypocrisy. As I was doing the daily reads I found this on Brians site. I researched around the site and found many troubling things. The info provided was for the most part rude and not backed up. A bunch of name calling. Some excerpts:

• "Jerry Kilgore is very, very effeminate"

Just think of the uproar if a republican called Kaine effeminate. What does that have to do with anything? The irony here is endless..let your mind explore the possibilities. This makes ole Kilo mad as heck. Just what are they saying? A women could not do the job? I would not describe him as such, as I don't think it is accurate statement. It could be that Kaine and Co. have to resort to name calling because they have nothing else to stand on. Kilgore has a solid record of standing up for the law abiding citizens of Virginia.

• "spend like crazy and borrows from our kids' futures to pay for it"

This is unfounded - but the whole site is moon bat rant after rant. I had hoped for a clean battle. I encourage you to not support that kind of rhetoric. Stay focused on what is best for Virginia, and that is Jerry Kilgore. If you check out Kilgore’s web site, you will see a big difference in the style and info. If you check out any of the O.D.B.A. blogs, you will find facts with out name calling and discriminatory rants.

( Raising Kaine is not the official Kaine web site. It is a grassroots website) Lets mow the grass! I searched for an equal web site for Kilgore...None were found...that speaks volumes about the difference in the right and left in this campaign.

New Look

Well after my birthday I decided to change the look of Spark It Up. Leave me a comment and Please let me know if you like it or not. Thanks to Shannon and Lisa for the help. I wanted something a little different than most blogger templates...and I wanted it FREE...So I found this and I like it. I cant get the Alliance Blog roll to work...it breaks IE's code and puts all the text at the bottom of the page. Of course there is no such problem for Firefox! Everyone should use it anyway!

Thank's to everyone for the birthday wishes! It was a great weekend. Partied with the family and friends. Me and Lord Boobie Doo gorged ourselves on some fish. Watched TV and slugged around the house. Typical middle age stuff.

The Big 40 (my birthday) and Moonbats

I said I would post about the protests yesterday, but there is really nothing to say. The coffin march held away from the inauguration was fine, that was pure protest. The disruption of the ceremony by chanting moon bats was not. Anyway, not much happened and I hope those who assaulted police and threw stuff are fined in a big way!

The advancement of liberty was the theme of the speech today.

I will say that no other President in my lifetime has set a goal this high. This makes total sense to me because I agree with President Bush on the fact that free nations will not support terrorists. This must happen in order to fulfill this

Great speech that should make all Americans realize how good we have it, and why we should help all nations who want freedom.

Fundraising in Virginia

The Richmond Times Dispatch has some fundraising facts about the race between Kilgore and Kaine.

• Kaine leads in N.Va. donations GOP rival Kilgore tops in rural areas, Hampton Roads. BY PAMELA STALLSMITH
• Even though the gubernatorial rivals were virtually tied in fund raising at the beginning of the year, Democrat Timothy M. Kaine raised almost three times as much money as Republican Jerry W. Kilgore in the state's most populous and wealthy region of Northern Virginia. Kaine, the lieutenant governor, had collected almost $1.6 million in contributions from the area. That is just under one-third of the total $5.3 million his campaign reported through Dec. 31. That compares with the nearly $567,000 raised in the region by Kilgore, the attorney general. That accounts for about 10 percent of the $5.4 million in donations to his bid during the same time.

I was troubled by this

• However, Kilgore will resign from his job on Feb. 1, which will free him to campaign full time and troll for dollars. One reason he will step down is to allow the GOP-controlled legislature to pick his successor, rather than Democratic Gov. Mark R. Warner

Troll for dollars? I think we call that campaigning and fundraising, at least it was for Kaine. They just had to use troll...yet Kaine fundraises...Bias? Kilgores stepping down has caused Kaine to throw a few punches...Yet John over at the CC has this to show Kaine's hypocrisy.

It seems the Democrats have lot riding on Virginias Governor€™s race this year. The Commonwealth Conservative has this to say. I agree with John that the race will be wild. Kilgore has support in my neck of the woods as he is a graduate of University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

 Kilgore’s Abingdon Office Donates Cell Phones for Domestic Violence Victims

• ABINGDON – Attorney General Jerry Kilgore today announced that his Abingdon satellite office has collected 105 cellular phones donated by area residents to assist victims of domestic violence. In October, Kilgore announced a program called "Verizon Wireless Hopeline Virginia Partnership," a joint effort by the Attorney General and Verizon Wireless to provide used and refurbished cellular phones to victims of domestic violence in the event they must communicate with someone to get help. The phones were collected in Kilgore’s Abingdon office by Israel O’Quinn, Community Outreach Coordinator.

  "A cellular phone can be a lifeline for someone who needs help to get away from an abusive situation," Kilgore said. "The residents of the Abingdon area have shown over and over again that they care about the safety of their fellow citizens – especially at this time of year."

  In the program announced in October, Kilgore and Verizon have collected nearly 1700 cellular phones. City of Richmond Police Detective Carol Adams, who lost her mother to domestic violence, has personally collected over 1200 cellular phones on her own. Once cellular phones are collected, they are distributed by the advocacy group Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance (VSDVAA). Verizon Wireless provides some phones that are accompanied by free air time. Other phones are sold with the proceeds going to groups that combat domestic violence.

  Virginians wishing to donate their discarded cellular phones may drop them off at any Verizon Wireless retail store. In addition, citizens may drop off the phones at the Office of the Attorney General at 900 E. Main Street in Richmond, or at any of the four OAG satellite offices around Virginia:

This is a problem here in S.W.V.A. and it is good to see something being done locally. I know this phone program works, and Kilgore has put a lot into this domestic violence issue.

•  "We have done this because I believe that domestic violence is one of the most destructive and preventable crimes our society faces," Kilgore said. "We have done this because it is time to act against domestic violence in our state. We must do all we can to protect those who face violence in their homes, at the hands of their own loved ones."

  Combating domestic violence has been the centerpiece of Kilgore’s term as Attorney General. Kilgore’s legislation has improved domestic violence laws in the following ways:

  • Created a $3 million fund for domestic violence services and prosecutions by levying fees on general district court cases
  • Created a Class 6 felony for violation of a protective order that results in bodily injury to the person protected by the order, or for furtively entering the home of the person
  • Allowed judges to award temporary child support to victims of domestic violence at the same time they seek a protective order
  • Removed the requirement that married persons must be living apart or that the defendant caused bodily injury by use of force for a spouse to be convicted of rape.
  • Established a statewide facilitator to oversee and evaluate services and programs available to victims of domestic abuse.
  • Directed the Department of Criminal Justice Services to enhance training standards for police officers who respond to domestic violence calls.
  • Clarified and expanded the definition of "family abuse" to include any bodily injury.
  • Required the entry of protective orders into the Virginia Criminal Information Network upon receipt by a law enforcement agency.

This info is from the Richmond Times Dispatch. It is about a few bills Kilgore is trying to get passed. It reads

• “ Kilgore's death-penalty bill would eliminate the "triggerman rule," which requires that a defendant commit the killing to be eligible for a death sentence. Under his proposal, someone who significantly participated in a capital murder would be eligible.”

  “Kilgore said the bill is an outgrowth of the sniper case, in which John Allen Muhammad faces the death penalty in Virginia while his young accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, was sentenced to life in prison.”

I think they both deserve the death penalty.

• “Kilgore also would provide another chance to condemn someone if the first attempt fails. Currently, if a jury deliberating in the penalty phase is hung, the defendant gets life in prison. Under Kilgore's proposal, a new jury could be convened for the penalty phase and could impose the death penalty.”
• “Other Kilgore proposals would increase penalties for the manufacture of methamphetamine and create a felony statute to punish "phishing," in which criminals use junk e-mail to bait computer users into supplying personal financial information online.”

Yes, stop that meth!!! Stop email fraud!!!

• “Kilgore, who has targeted gangs in previous legislative sessions, also will back legislation to create "Gang-Free School Zones," with increased penalties for gang recruitment near schools.”

 but this states the following..

Bad Taste

I am sure this post is in bad taste, but I will post it anyway. The recent  disaster in Asia has turned into something beyond belief. Scott over at the Right Moment has a good post.

Now the bad taste...

• I agree with Scott.....and I wonder if this had been Florida, would the World help? Would the world be held to the same standard as they hold and expect of of us? I doubt it. I see those wonderful French and Germans have been real giving..Heck, Sandra Bullock gave more herself than most nations. The UN even called us "stingy"???? We shell out millions in relief,yet some complain about the cost of the war on terror..

I am sorry for the deaths in Asia, but I will send my money in the form of a care package to a American serving his country. Why? Because I honestly believe if this had happened here in America....my hat could hold the donations and aid the world would supply. Sad but true...

My Resolution

Happy New Year!!

Well another year is in the history books. 2004 was a good year for me. I received an A.A.S. degree, started working on a Bachelor's degree, and found gainful employment. It was another drug free year for me, as I have been clean since 2001. The drinking was minimal, I really don’t think I drank anything this year and I know I did not get drunk. I thank my family and God for this. A few years ago I was in a drug induced stupor that had progressed for 20 years. My eyes are now opened to the wasted time…..where would I be if it had continued? Where would I be if I never did it to begin with? The houses and cars I lost..the relationships I let pass by..the loss of a good friend one night and a cousin who shared my disease and greed who decided to paint the walls with his brains. I am a survivor. I am very lucky indeed. I am thankful for many things, but most of all…my parents, who adopted me and gave me a chance at life. My family, who watched as I killed myself slowly for years, yet they showed me nothing but true love, this still amazes me. Now sober I try to make amends and return the love shown me all those wasted years. The one toast I make this New Year is to the friends and family who cannot share it with me. To Mitzi, to Hennon, to Pam, to Dianna, to Charlie, to Jay..only the good die young. None of them saw 20 years on this earth. I miss them all and think of them every day. These thoughts guide me now. I try harder every day to be a better man, a good man. When I look into Shannon’s eyes, I see the love I need, and I see the future. As I walk around the home place I see how the trees have grown, and I hear the birds….man, 20 years I never heard that. I see the love in my fathers eyes, for his wife, his home, his God….I want that too. My resolution is to be a GOOD MAN…and if I have to explain that, you will never understand.
