Another Wise County Minister Busted! - John McCarroll and the Glory Hole?
One local minister was sentenced this week. Now we have another one busted! This McCarroll guy has a daily radio show and a big local fan base. From the Kingsport Times -
KINGSPORT — The pastor of a church in Coeburn was arrested Wednesday after allegedly exposing himself to an undercover Kingsport police officer.
Kingsport Police Department vice detectives arrested John Franklin McCarroll, 65, 2306 E. First Ave., Big Stone Gap. The arrest occurred during an undercover investigation into lewd and lascivious acts at the public restrooms at Riverfront Park on Netherland Inn Road.
According to statements from the detectives, McCarroll allegedly exposed himself through a hole between two stalls.
The Web site for Trinity Life Center, 9829 Norton-Coeburn Road, Coeburn, lists McCarroll as pastor of the church. The Times-News called church deacon Gary Bush, who issued no comment to all queries.
McCarroll’s wife, Martha, was reached by telephone at their Big Stone Gap home.
“The stuff you’re hearing isn’t true,” she said.
Married for 41 years, she added, “You couldn’t ask for a finer man in this whole wide world, and he was just a victim of circumstances.”
During the past few years, Kingsport police have conducted numerous undercover investigations into illegal sexual activities in Riverfront Park’s restrooms. Two men were arrested in October for allegedly exposing themselves, while a third was accused of proposing sexual acts.
What's up with these guys? This place is a known for sexual perversion and I wonder what Mcarroll was doing there to begin with. This charge will be hard for him to deny. Either he exposed himself through a hole or he didn't. His word against a undercover cop and sting operation.....Things are not looking good for this guy when his wife is denying and the Deacon has no comment.

post a commentI do not go to John's church but I have met him several times and know several people who go to his church. What all that I have know he is a good man. We all have our personal demons to deal with and we should be praying for him, his family and his church.
Just another man. We hold them to a higher standard, but is that fair? I believe it is. THis would be a terrible story if he was just an average Joe, but he proclaims to be a man of God, a shepherd, a FRAUD.
Yes, he is a man of God; however, he is not God. He is just like the rest of us...a sinner. So, before any of us sit back and cast the stones, we may want to first take a good look in the mirror to determine if we really have it all together so much that we can say such horrible things about this man. So many times in situations like this (and I'm guilty of instinctively thinking these thoughts, too), we can quote scripture and tell what a man of God (especially a preacher) should be...but for some reason we forget the forgiveness part of the equation....that's where we come into the picture...and that's why Jesus' blood was shed for us, so we could be forgiven if we ask Him for it. I believe that if Jesus could shed his blood for me so I could be forgiven, the least I could do is to forgive others who I know have sinned...and just be even more thankful that I didn't have to shed my blood for their sins just as Jesus did for mine. I can't speak for Mr. McCarroll at this time; however, I do feel like if any of us were ever caught doing something we shouldn't be doing, we would realize how it is more important than ever to have others continue to love us, despite our sins, and pray that we find our way back into walking a walk that our Lord would be pleased with. I'm a sinner just like the rest of everyone reading this message, including Mr. McCarroll, and I struggle everyday with the wrong decisions I make; however, I just hope that others are praying for me just as I am for Mr. McCarroll, his family and his church family so that they don't let the devil continue to make this situation worse...and that they join closer together than ever before to gain an even more personal understanding of the power of the blood that was shed for our sins....ALL of our sins....for ALL of us (no matter if we are a preacher or not).

I hope there is more to this story; we have a habit of believing the worst in people. I would add, however, God's grace a forgiveness is full and free, but ministers of the Gospel are held to a higher standard by society and the Word of God. Even the appearance of evil can cause untold damage to a weaker believer. I pray for his congregation.
"And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck." (Mark 9:42)
What is really wierd about all this is that this park was not on the way to anywhere...he would have had to go out of his way to get there...I still can't believe it...John seemed like such a nice man...but now that I look back I wonder, what has he done that we don't know about...here's a thought to ponder on...what about his grandson...or any of the other children that attend his church...if it is true about all this then where does it end?
I can only evaluate John McCarroll on the basis and strength of my personal interaction with him. Every facet of our relationship has been positive and I have found him to be a person of unquestionable honor and integrity.
Even if what we've been reading in the newspapers is true, his alledged, sinful actions pale in comparison to those of "a man after God's own heart" aka King David.
King David not only committed adultery with Bathsheba, but also had no hesitancy in killing her husband when it seemed expedient toward keeping his adultery from being discovered.
If God can/will forgive such as that which David did and use him henceforth, He will unquestionably forgive and further use John McCarroll.
And lets us not forget God's forgiveness for some other people who stuck their peckers where they should not...Sodom and Gomorrah.
Just wondering--how would you feel if your 6 year old son had been in the other stall and had been exposed to this kind of thing????Would Pastor John still be so adorned and so many saying "I forgive him" so easily?
Don't worry. It is all going to come out. There are too many of us that want the truth to be told and to stop hurting so many people. Life must go on for all of us.
Yes, we all are sinners, but we all do not lead congregations, and pretend to be role models, yet lead a life full of lewdness. If I were in his shoes, I'd be more concerned about my final judgement day, knowing that I had lied about the Lord Almighty, and pretended to be righteous, all in His name.
Funny thing is this guy preaches against gay marriage. So that makes him a real jerk. I know all of this is alleged. But you don't get arrested for being in a stall and simply taking a piss. You do however get arrested for being in a stall with a hole in it and sticking it through to what you hope is a willing party. He's probably been going there and other places for years. So nice fella' or not, he has set himself up for the wrath and laughter. I think the tag line for his church on his website is hilarious now.

i can't believe this...i remember listening to this man preach on the radio every single day from the time i was a child up until this happened.
what was he doing there with no dog or kids to play with or some woman he's seeing on the side?? you can draw your own conclusions...and the rest of us will draw ours.
are they still letting him preach, and is there anyone that still goes to his church?? i'd be afraid to listen to any kind of advice from him, even if he only told me i needed new tires on my car...
I sure am glad he is getting found out. I can't believe what a deceiver he is. I think he is the devil himself. The day that the Lord turns to him and tells him depart from me I never knew you, maybe then justice will be served. He is so discusting.
