More on the Pork Rind Scandal
Appalachia Mayor Ben Cooper (D) says guilty 233 times. That process took over 30 mins. He faces a whopping 21 months in jail(???) and $88,000 in court costs. He will be sentenced in early January. Others found guilty in the now famous voter fraud case received sentencing, but no jail time. Get this quote from Cooper's lawyer Patty Church:
"Cooper was "not really a Boss Hogg, and his 'kingdom' was more like Larry, Curly and Moe," she said of a conspiracy that unraveled after a voter complained that she was not allowed to vote at the polls, having been informed she had already voted by absentee ballot. The voter knew otherwise."(LINK)
Heh. I am glad this is about over. The Kingsport Times has this. The Bristol Herald has this. In my first post about this I refused to identify what party Cooper was with. You can read that here. But after some thought I feel it should be known that Cooper ran as a Democrat. Leaving that out would be sloppy of me.
