I've been silent for a long time and I figure I owe readers an explanation. My health has gradually declined over the past year - 18 months. About 8 months ago it got the best of me and I went to see my doctor. Blood work showed a couple problems. The first was a bone marrow issue and a low platelet count. The next problem was my Hepatitis C was active...Active is a huge understatement. It was and it is kicking holes in my liver. A biopsy showed Stage 3 Liver Disease.
I will start Hep C treatments on September 1st. A 48 week round of weekly Pegylated Interferon shots and 6 Ribavirin pills daily. I will be using a drug cocktail called PEGASYS & COPEGUS. The success rate is low and the side effects mimic chemo.
With all of this going on, politics and blogging are pretty much out of the question. I may post about my treatments, I may not....I really cant say. Surrounding myself with family and friends is what I desire as of now.
Spark It Up has had a long run. A good run I think. The internets have changed and IMHO blogs have fallen to the wayside as fast as they thrived a few years ago. Facebook and twitter reach more people than blogs ever did.
So for now Spark It Up will be dark...Like I said...I may write about treatment and use the blog as a weekly journal...I may let it die a quiet death....Burn out and just fade away.
Be Blessed,
Carl

Sorry to hear of your health problems. You will be in my prayers.
You will be in my prayers, and I am sorry to hear of your health problems.
Thank you Ladies !
Carl, we've noticed your absence ... you've been missed. I agree ... there are many changes in the blogosphere as new technology has taken networking in different directions.
I wish you well while working through your health issues and pray for good medicine, wise doctors, and healing hands. You, my friend, are special and will be in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of you.... ~Lynn
I'm so sorry you haven't been well, Carl. Keeping you in thoughts and prayer.
P.S. I'm thinking about shutting my blog down, too. I rarely post after joining Facebook and a group blog.
Sorry to hear about that, Carl. Life is precious, and it's times like this that puts politics in proper perspective. Take good care of yourself, and get well soon.
Thank you Lynn, Mo, Dr. Clem.
