Alton has the real deal posted here.
Very good read. He Begins:
Seems some Virginians are embarrassed by Governor Bob McDonnell’s declaration of April as Virginia’s “Confederate History Month”. Charges of racism are flying thicker’n cannonballs on any of Virginia’s many Civil War battlefields.
If not racist, they say, at least McDonnell was insensitive in his choice of titles. Many say it would be acceptable if Virginia celebrated “Civil War Month” instead.
Well, I’m not at all embarrassed. I’m no History expert, certainly not a Civil War history expert. But I do know the particulars. I know how Virginia found itself in the position of leading the Confederate States of America. As far as the Commonwealth of Virginia was concerned, slavery was not an issue when it became time to decide whether to stay with the Union or secede.
Gather ’round and I’ll tell you the rest of the story....

I agree with Alton 100%. I will visit some Confederate graves to decorate and take some pictures soon.
