There are over a hundred Confederate war dead at the Holston Conference Cemetery in Emory. There's one that I made up my mind to adopt. His name is Capt. George Carter late of the 8th Tennessee Cavalry, Company A. He died at the Battle of Saltville and is buried with the other Confederate war dead on the hill over looking Emory and Henry College.
