Happy Lee/Jackson Day
Today we honor two great Virginians - Robert E Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. It is minus 2 degrees here this morning and I have a couple flags to place in the cemetery before the sun rises. Remember those not as well known as the two generals. NOT FOR FAME OR REWARD, NOT FOR PLACE OR FOR RANK, NOT LURED BY AMBITION OR GOADED BY NECESSITY, BUT IN SIMPLE OBEDIENCE TO DUTY AS THEY UNDERSTOOD IT, THESE MEN SUFFERED ALL, SACRIFICED ALL, DARED ALL, AND DIED -Link

post a commentThere are over a hundred Confederate war dead at the Holston Conference Cemetery in Emory. There's one that I made up my mind to adopt. His name is Capt. George Carter late of the 8th Tennessee Cavalry, Company A. He died at the Battle of Saltville and is buried with the other Confederate war dead on the hill over looking Emory and Henry College.
Just another excuse for the state govt. employees to have another day off at the expense of the taxpayers...
