Accidental Discharge is nothing to joke about - Video
How many mistakes did this "professional" make?
Amazing. My Dad told me this when he was teaching me to clean his guns. Rule #1 Treat every gun like it was loaded with the safety off. If super cop had learned from my dad he would not have shot himself in the leg in front of a room full of school kids.
He appears to give the pistol a good visual check. He even walks to his left to use the extra light from the overhead projector and show the "empty" gun to the guy standing against the wall. How did he not see a 40 caliber cartridge? Also notice what a calm room full of kids...Like I said, amazing.

Rule #2 in dealing with semi-automatics, always remember the round in the chamber
This is scary. I mean, anyone can make a mistake, but jeez, this is what this guy is PAID for, to NOT make mistakes.
This is the mindset that many LEO's seem to get. They're professional. They get paid to CARRY a gun. They forget that they only have to qualify with it twice a year. Many non LEO's shoot every week.....
This video has made the rounds of "what not to do" of all the gun blogs. Always, Always, Always, remove the magazine first. Then open and check the chamber. Insert a finger if you have to. Just don't close the slide....
AND WHAT THE HELL WAS HIS FINGER DOING ANYWHERE NEAR THAT DAMN TRIGGER?
I hope he lost his job and was charged with reckless endangerment. Police should not be exempt from the laws that you and I follow.
He held the gun over his head and tripped the slide...gangster bullshit.
I dont see how he missed the cartridge. Dang lucky he did not shoot a kid.
