Virginia Coal Miner Killed Friday
Elden Todd Meadows, 44, of Lebanon, Va., died Friday afternoon as a result of injuries he received in a roof fall accident at Consol Energy’s Buchanan No. 1 Mine.......“The preliminary information that we have is that Mr. Meadows was working at the drilling machine when a piece of rock fell from the roof, striking him,” Abbott said. “He was bolting up at the face of the mine.” Abbott said that the rock that struck Meadows was 50 inches wide, 55 inches long and approximately 4 to 6 inches thick.
“Our preliminary report is that he died as a result of a serious head injury,” Abbott said. He said that Meadows was married with two dependent children, but did not know the total of years he has been working as a coal miner.(LINK)

My father was friends with Todd and had worked with him before. I think this was an ABSOLUTE tragedy. I think in Coal Mines today that more safety measures should be taken to prevent things like this.
