The Charges Against Nicholas Owens - Local Dumb Ass
Owens has been charged with:
■ Arson of a building owned by the United States.
■ Arson on U.S. property.
Owens is also charged with “knowingly and willfully (making) materially false and fictitious statements and representations.”(LINK)
He could be facing 50 years in the penitentiary.
According to court documents, Owens was seen by two Coeburn police officers at around 3 a.m. on Oct. 31 at the Chevron Station in Coeburn with an unknown individual.
“At about 4:51 a.m. this same day, Owens was seen at the Double Kwik store in Norton by a Norton police officer,” U.S. Forest Service Special Agent Larry Fisher said. “Owens made a statement to the Norton police officer that it would be wild or crazy if someone burnt (sic) the watchtower down.”(LINK)
This dumb ass already confessed
During a hearing last month, a federal forest service investigator said Owens admitted setting the fire when he was questioned just hours before his arrest. Owens previously denied any involvement in the blaze, the investigator testified.
The criminal complaint against Owens alleges that he spoke with Norton police officers about 90 minutes before the blaze and told them it would be "wild or crazy" if somebody burned the High Know tower.(LINK)
Coincidence? I doubt that.
