Duncan Hunter - Arsenal of Democracy
U.S. Rep. and Republican presidential candidate Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., played a key part this year in strengthening a law requiring critical U.S. military equipment to use American-made titanium....‘‘They can’t waive the Berry Amendment without checking with us first,’’ Hunter said. ‘‘The whole idea of the Berry Amendment is you can’t give (a waiver) unless you truly find that ... American titanium isn’t available. Yet they go off in the dark of night and execute these waivers without checking (with Congress) first.’’
Hunter also pushed a bill written with U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan, D-Niles, to help make domestic companies more competitive by fighting undervalued Chinese currency. The bill, which he said has 178 co-sponsors is vital to area manufacturers Wheatland Tube and Sharon Tube, which Thursday joined other U.S. tubemakers in filing a trade case to stop China from dumping steel tubes in the U.S. .............‘‘This company has no greater friend in Congress than Duncan Hunter,’’ RTI Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dawne S. Hickton said in introducing Hunter to workers at the RMI mill.(LINK)
