Democrats and the Budget

The Government and Politics section of the Patriot Post has "A Budget too Good to be True"

Senate Democrats pushed through a $2.9-trillion budget blueprint this week to expand the children's health-insurance program by $50 billion over the next five years, add more money to education and veterans' benefits, and increase overall discretionary spending by nine percent in FY 2008. Democrats claim it can be done without cutting defense (or a single federal program for that matter), raising taxes or increasing the deficit. In fact, they believe that this budgetary sleight of hand will actually balance the federal budget by 2012.

So how are we paying for this? New taxes on business, higher income achievers, and a renewed (2011) Death Tax. I believe this will have a profound effect on our economy and small business. The article points out there is no will in congress to curb spending or fix Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. President Bush offered small changes to SS and the left pounded him. Now they choose to ignore the problems. The downward spiral has begun. The party of the Useful Idiots are revealing their cards.

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents...." --James Madison

Many believe that FDR seeded Socialism in America 70 years ago. I agree with that. I don't think FDR's New Deal was meant to last 70 years.

"Soviet dictator Nikita Khrushchev said of Roosevelt's "New Deal" paradigm shift, "We can't expect the American people to jump from capitalism to communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have communism"(LINK)

Conservatives need to speak out and speak loudly. Heck, we need to shout. Mark Alexander writes:

Today, more than 70 years after FDR seeded American socialism, the Soviet Union is but a memory. In addition, China and most other states with centralized economies (Cuba notwithstanding) are undergoing a dramatic shift toward free-enterprise -- as well as the political challenges that accompany such a shift. Yet despite the collapse of socialism around the world, inheritance-welfare liberals still dominate the Democrat Party and control their Leftmedia propaganda machine. They continue to advocate all manner of dependence upon the state (the poor man's trust fund).

Indeed. We need to open our eyes.
