Duncan Hunter and South Carolina Straw Poll
The South Carolina straw poll shows Duncan Hunter in second place with 110 votes with 71 of 75 precincts reporting. Rudy is in first place with 123 votes. This news is impressive because Hunter won the Arizona straw poll last month. Rick Amato writes:
The charm of Duncan Hunter is that he is authentic. In a world of hyper-branding and packaging... where political speeches sound as if they are the result of focus group studies... Hunter comes across as unscripted, unrehearsed and firm in his beliefs.
...And do not dismiss his unwavering support for Border Patrol Agents Ramos & Compeon. It is the stuff that resonates with people.
As I wrote in The Washington Times back in November, Hunter has a message that connects with republican voters...particularly those in early primary states such as Iowa, South Carolina and New Hampshire. His message is one of peace through strength, conservative social values and conservative illegal immigration policy.
Voters will continue to find him an attractive alternative.
I agree. Here is what I see. If Duncan Hunter is doing this well in the straw polls with little money and minimal MSM exposure he is in great shape! I have said he is the true conservative candidate and his message will resonate as people learn more about him.
My Duncan Hunter posts are here. DJ has this up at RWL. Help Duncan out here.
