Could you have watched this happen?
Watching this video at Leslie Carbone's blog is a must. This video could get her banned from Waldo's site. Freedom of speech indeed. Since when is setting a fire using a propellant in a public place legal? It seems to me public safety was at risk. You can find more about this event here. It was also reported that a man dropped his pants and defecated on the flag.
Perhaps the most disturbing scene of the afternoon, however, involved the man who pulled down his pants in front of women and children and defecated on a burning U.S. flag. This disgusting act actually elicited cheers from some members of the crowd, but we hope that the emotion it produces in the community is one of revulsion.(LINK)
I cant imagine witnessing this in person. The list of charges brought against me would be long. Assault and battery with the intent to maim or disfigure.....I am honestly saying I don't think I could stand by and watch this happen. My thoughts on Flag Burning and such are well known. Freedom of speech is one thing, but the Supreme Court messed up when they said this act of flag burning was freedom of speech. This confuses acts with speech. I thank God I will never be faced with this here in Wise, Virginia. Watch the Video and have a nice day.
