Christmas Busy-ness
Christmas is the season where we tend to run around focusing on to-do lists and not so much on the people we are doing those things for. Kilo and I have left the kitchen long enough to wish for each of you a time of refocusing on what is truly important this season. The gift is not nearly as important as the person whose name is on the tag . This year as you are exchanging gifts and pleasantries give a bit of yourself, share the warmth and love that you are feeling and watch the busy-ness and frustrations just melt away.
I am reminded of the Biblical story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-41. Jesus had come to their house and Martha was "distracted with all her preparations" instead of sitting and focusing on her guest. When she began to complain about her busy-ness Jesus scolded her for being "worried and bothered about so many things," while Mary "has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her." A gentle reminder that the stuff is not nearly as important or lasting as the people. Focus on those around you this Christmas and watch for the everlasting gift of love to unwrap itself. Merry Christmas from Spark It Up HQ.
