Two Coal Miners Killed in WV
Two miners killed in WV today.
Massey Energy is confirming one death at its Black Castle surface mine in Boone County Wednesday afternoon. That death after a natural gas explosion and fire above-ground.
Another coal miner was killed in the Long Branch Energy Number 18 Mine near Danville in a ribfall underground accident.
Governor Manchin has shut down all mining in the state? That is unreasonable. The mines where the accidents occurred are automatically shut down for review by MSHA. To shut down all the mines is ridiculous. Tomorrow safe coal miners will not get to earn a living.
BTW- The last I had heard was that Long Branch #18 is a union mine with a safety committee. Hmmmm.
Update- It seems the Governor has backed off.
