Peter Benchley
I hated to read this. Peter Benchley died at age 65. He was the author of the novel "Jaws". I still have that old book. He also authored "The Deep" and "The Island". I read them all but Jaws is a classic. I remember going to the movie when I was 10. Pure Terror! I think that book and movie started a media fascination with sharks that continues today.
In addition to the fame he achieved as a novelist, Benchley was a reporter for the Washington Post and Newsweek, wrote for magazines and a speech writer for President Lyndon B. Johnson from 1967 until January, 1969.
