Virginia Politics- Jerry Kilgore
- Republican gubernatorial candidate Jerry W. Kilgore took his anti-tax message to Chesterfield County yesterday, telling motorists that Democrat Timothy M. Kaine would be more likely to raise gasoline taxes than he would be.
- "We can't trust Tim Kaine to keep down taxes because he's not going to," Kilgore said, before pumping gas for motorists at JR's Auto Care, a Shell station at the northeast corner of Midlothian Turnpike and Huguenot Road.
- Also yesterday, the Kilgore campaign appeared to endorse a letter by Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., in which he asked the U.S. attorney's office to investigate a day-laborer center being built in Herndon.
- While the letter was written by Tancredo, a link to it was sent to reporters by the Kilgore campaign, which opposes the center as a boon to illegal immigrants.
Immigration is still a hot topic, as it should be. But the best for last!!
- As luck would have it, the Chesterfield service station lowered its gas prices by 6 cents a gallon while Kilgore was trying to help motorists pump gas at the self-service pumps.
- "I show up, and great things happen," Kilgore joked.
Good stuff.
