Gate City

It seems the mayor of Gate city Mark Jenkins removed a sign with Jerry Kilgores name on it. He soon found out how much support Kilgore has in SWVA. From WCYB:

• THE TOWN OF GATE CITY VIRGINIA IS IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONTROVERSY.
  THE ARGUMENT IS OVER A SIGN.
  SOME ARE UPSET THE FORMER ATTORNEY GENERAL`S NAME IS NO LONGER CONNECTED TO THE "WELCOME TO GATE CITY" SIGN.
  ON MONDAY THE MAYOR OF GATE CITY PUT IN A WORK ORDER TO REMOVE A SIGN FROM GATE CITY`S WELCOME SIGN.
  MARK JENKINS/ GATE CITY MAYOR:
  "i`ve gotta admit, I probably should have gone about it a different route and let the council make a decision."
  DEXTER HARMON/ RESIDENT:
  "he represents Scott County and our town of Gate City and it should have stayed I suppose."
  THE SIGN WAS PAID FOR THROUGH PRIVATE DONATIONS WHEN KILGORE BECAME ATTORNEY GENERAL NEARLY 4-YEARS AGO.
  THE MAYOR SAYS HE WILL HANG IT BACK UP HIMSELF BY SUNDAY AND REIMBURSE THE TOWN FOR THE COSTS OF REMOVING IT.
  THE MAYOR WILL LET THE COUNCIL DECIDE THE FATE OF THE SIGN.

Mark Jenkins found out who really runs Gate City....the People! Why would he take it down in the first place? I hope to have pictures of Jenkins hanging the sign back up.
