Kilgore releases Higher Education Plan
A few highlights
- Providing 100 scholarships to encourage Virginia students to seek engineering degrees at Virginia universities;
Ensuring that we meet the enrollment demand through 2012 by increasing access, encouraging innovation, and teaming up with private, independent institutions;
Establishing the Rural Education Access Program (REAP) to encourage four-year colleges and universities to develop academic partnerships with rural community colleges;
Developing more co-op opportunities for college and university students in science, mathematics and technology fields, giving them access to real-life, long-term work experiences; and
Building more opportunities for internships for Community College students through creation of the Employment Access for Scholars (EASE) program. - Read the plan here.
This is a big issue to me and I hope to you too.
