For close to 30 years Pike County KY has hosted Hillbilly Days. The event benefits the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. The event was started by Howard "Dirty Ear" Stratton and " Shady" Grady Kinney, two Shriners with the Hillbilly Clan Outhouse No. 2 in Pikeville. The festival is attended by over 100,000 folks and continues to get bigger and better each year. I have attended many times and let me tell you it is a must for any Hillbilly! You can recieve your Hillbilly degree at the Pikeville college. The venders are great and the food is too. A schedule of events held in 2005 is here. A map with vender locations is here. The map will give you a view of how big this event is. I want to inform all my new friends over at Don Surbers that they should make plans to attend in 2006! Hey 100,000 hillbillies cant be wrong! The event homepage is here, and hundreds of pictures are here. This is a good event for a good cause and I promise if you attend you will love it!
