Jerry Kilgore backs license law
- Republican gubernatorial candidate Jerry W. Kilgore said yesterday that proposed federal legislation requiring greater documentation by people seeking driver's licenses will make the nation more secure from terrorist attacks.
The atricle also had this tidbit:
- Kilgore rejected recent comments by the Rev. Pat Robertson, the Virginia Beach broadcaster, that federal judges are more dangerous than terrorists. Robertson was speaking of the long-term consequences of judicial decisions."I don't think they are dangerous per se; I disagree with a lot of their rulings," Kilgore said. "I don't have them on my terrorist watch list." Kilgore said he believes judges should interpret the law, not make it. He suggested that Robertson's comments might have been out of line. "We need to reel it back in and talk about the real problem here, and the real problem . . . exists between those who are making laws and those who are interpreting them," he said.
