More on Barack Obama's S.2433 : Global Poverty Act

We know for a fact that this bill will cost America $845 billion above and beyond what America already spends on global aid in the next thirteen years. America will be locked in to giving .7 percent of the U.S. gross national product. That in itself is scary enough, but there is way more to Obama's bill. It also locks us into United Nations Millennium Summit. Cliff Kincaid from Accuracy in Media is all over this bill. He writes-(Underlined by me)

The bill institutes the United Nations Millennium Summit goals as the benchmarks for U.S. spending.

"It is time the United States makes it a priority of our foreign policy to meet this goal and help those who are struggling day to day," a statement issued by supporters, including Obama, said.

Specifically, it would "declare" that the official U.S. policy is to eliminate global poverty, that the president is "required" to "develop and implement" a strategy to reach that goal and requires that the U.S. efforts be "specific and measurable."

Kincaid said that after cutting through all of the honorable-sounding goals in the plan, the bottom line is that the legislation would mandate the 0.7 percent of the U.S. GNP as "official development assistance."

"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that (U.N.) declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention of Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Convention of the Rights of the Child," he said.

Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims.

Kincaid also reported Jeffrey Sachs, who runs the "Millennium Project," confirms a U.N. plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7 percent of GNP would add about $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already donates overseas.

And the only way to raise that funding, Sachs confirms, "is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels," Kincaid writes.

On the forum run by Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, one writer reported estimates of taxes from 35 cents to $1 dollar a gallon on gasoline would be needed.(LINK)

This ladies and gentleman is the Barack Obama vision for America. WND called Obama's office and the others who support this bill....No comments.

Why is this not on the front page of every newspaper? This bill is a power grab from the United Nations exceeding UNESCO,NAFTA, CAFTA,GATT and gives us only SHAFTA.
While it is admirable to want to eliminate poverty,we can't take care of the world! If this is enacted into law, it won't matter what else happens, our country is gone.
On the 6o'clock news, I watched interviews with Africans, they want Obama to be President, because they feel he will send aid.
Do they even know the aid they were given was stolen by the corrupt leaders from their country?
The "saviour" of the world is not Obama but the American people. We must stop the one world government that so many leaders are hell bent to create.

You call it "Obama's Bill", but Chuck Hagel is a co-sponsor. The GOP is just as guilty of these constitution-busting boondoggles. Obama wants to engage in charity at my expense for the greater good of minkind, while the GOP wants to show their Christian spirit at my expense!

I am quite fed up! As an independent, I say a curse on both their houses.

Have any of you fine, educated people bothered to read S.2433.
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:S.2433:

The Global Poverty Act simply request the State Department to write a strategy plan and produce reports (in 1 year, by 2012 and by 2015) for how they plan to implement the US Millenium Challenge Authorization (US Code 22 Sec 7703), which President Bush signed into law in 2004. Let's try to debate the issues based on FACTS.

Yes Patty ...we also understand what the entire bill implies concerning the Millennium act.
This is the first step down that socialist road al-Obama loves.

why can't the un aim their sights on the arabs who are pulling in more than $125 per barrel of oil. its time someof the other "rich" countries start helping out.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:27 AM) :

It's not in the front news, because its a lie.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:49 AM) :

Obama says he stands for "change"!

Now we know what "change" he stands for. It's time to vote out the liberals that want to take everything from you and give it away.

Please write the Republican Senate Leadership and the Whitehouse and ask that they vote down s.2433. This Bill is a waiver of the sovereignty of the United States and a violation of the United States Consitution!

This is why I call Obama the "man in the blue turban" of Nostradamus predictions-- Obama is more pro-UN than pro-US. God help Israel under Obama!

"al-Obama"??? Are you kidding me? Way to bring the discourse down into the gutter.

No one is takng my weapons! This is communist fascism! We are ready to fight to the death! I've instructed all those dear to me not to be taken alive and take out as many as you can before you go down!

WAKE UP AMERICA! We need to regain control of our government before we wake up in FEMA prison camps seperated from all those we know and love!

This alarmist propaganda is nothing surprising at all. Obama is more than likely the next president of the United States. Personally, he is the only one who seems to speak to the American people like we are adults.

I imagine he is a member of the Trilateral Commission, the masons, the Council on Foreign Relations, The Bilderberg Group, The secret squirrel club, the international conspiracy to cover up the conspiracy of socialist pinkos, and most likle he is a Raeilian transplant.

He still has my vote.

Look at this from GOD'S point of view: Adam broke God's only law, starting human government. God needed to prove human rule would not work,so he gave man 6, 1,000 year "days" to test it. The 6 days are ending! The Church taught this
for the 1st 200 years!!! Hosea 6:1-3 says 2,000 years after Christ's death,he will take over rule of earth, destroy all who do not want him to rule (Luke 19:27; Daniel 2:44; Revelation 19:15-19) Then politics, war, starvation, poverty, even aging and death will end forever!!! Do you believe this? Jehovah's Witnesses proved it to
me. Listen to them! Did you know that they were the only religion that refused to fight for Hitler?
On a search engine, type in: Holocaust Museum, Jehovah's Witnesses. Because they alone were willing to die rather than kill Americans and others, while Catholics, Protestants, and all but one Mormon, supported Hitler,
we owe them a debt of thanks. There were 20,000 of them in Germany. Hitler threw nearly 10,000of them into concentration camps for refusing to fight for him, work in his war plants, say "Heil Hitler" or salute his swastika flag! Jehovah's Witnesses did their part in winning World War II, not by adding their numbers to the allied armies, but by subtracting their numbers from the Nazi army! What if the Catholics, Protestants, and Mormons in Germany had also refused to fight for Hitler? He would have had no army, and no war! 50,000,000 lives would have been saved!!! The night before his death, Jesus commanded his followers to "love one another, as I have loved you. By this ALL will know that you are my disciples, IF you have love among yourselves." If Catholics, Protestants, Fundamentalists, and Mormans are really Christ's disciples, WHY didn't they do what Jehovah's Witnesses did and die for Jesus instead of Hitler??? Doesn't this PROVE that those churches are responsible for all the blood shed in World War II? My
brother guarded the German prisoners of war. They told him that their chaplains and clergy told them that God was on Hitler's side!!! No wonder they fought for Hitler! The churches obviously broke Christ's "new commandment", to "love one another." (John 13:34)
Since Jehovah's Witnesses proved they would rather die than kill you, doesn't that prove to all the world that they have the only truly Christian religion today?

I know this forum is getting off topic but I feel obligated to inform the anonymous above that Pope Pius XII is acclaimed as being one of the most, if not the most, busy and effective persons, along with the bishops of the Church, to defend and save the Jewish people. If you do some proper research you'll find that plenty of historians recognize this as fact, among are the likes of Albert Einstein, Pinchas Lapide, Israele Anton Zolli, the Chief Rabbi of Rome during the German occupation, and plenty others. If you understood the institution of the Church as Christ had founded it you might recognize that, we as human beings are going to sin. You cannot place judgement on an institution for practicing contradicting beliefs as those of her/his institute. I'm sorry for encouraging this forum to go this route but, as stated earlier, feel obligated to inform those unaware of such efforts. Thank you for listening.

You Remember the Global Poverty Act

That's the bill that could pave the way for putting the entire planet on U.S. taxpayer-funded welfare.

The bill's main sponsor, Senator Barack Obama -- along with the other sponsors, including a group of Republicans-In-Name-Only (RINOs) such as Senators Chuck Hagel, Olympia Snowe, and Richard Lugar -- probably hopes you have forgotten.

There are legislators on both sides of the aisle who would love nothing more than to slip it by the Senate one sleepy, summer day.

This bill has already passed the House by voice vote and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by voice vote. That means your legislator can tell you he is "against it" even if he shouted out "Aye" at the top of his lungs.

As author Edward Cline explains: "This is a stratagem adopted by legislators who fear that a bill is so outrageous that it is better that no record be kept of those who endorsed it. S.2433 was passed from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the same manner - by voice vote, without public hearings, to protect the identities of the guilty."

What's it about? Vincent Gioia, writing in Right Side News, says:

" The Global Poverty Act (S.2433) would require the United States to spend $845 billion ($845,000,000,000.00) on welfare to third-world countries. This amounts to a tax of over $2,000 on each man, woman and child in the United States. The foreign aid budget now stands at $300 billion; the Act would add the additional expenditure to the already huge amount allocated to assist the world."

And Phyllis Schlafly wrote recently:

"Obama's costly, dangerous and altogether bad bill (S. 2433), which could come up in the Senate any day, is called the Global Poverty Act. It would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts..."

WorldNetDaily.com quotes Cliff Kincaid at Accuracy in Media as saying:

"[T]he legislation, if approved, dedicates 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which over 13 years... would amount to $845 billion 'over and above what the U.S. already spends. The plan passed the House in 2007 because most members didn't realize what was in it. Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require."

Here's a suggestion....WRITE YOUR SENATOR! Geez, folks - if you can take the time to gabble on a meaningless blog, you should be able to find 5 minutes to send your state's Senators a note stating your position (just say 'please vote (Yes or No) on S.2433). How hard is that????

The Millenium Development Goals were defined more than 8 years ago and the US agreed to help attain those goals during a 2000 summit and a 2005 summit. This bill is simply a plan to live up to that promise. Does the author have a cheaper way to accomplish this or is he suggesting we just blow it off.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:02 PM) :

We had better act now cause next year it will be all over. This used to be a great country, I'm afraid it has gone too far and we have lost it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:50 PM) :

Where's this $845 bill. come from?

CBO says the State Dept estimates the cost to be $1 million anually.

As an earlier poster said...debate with FACTS.

i know you people have an issue with this concept of reading and comprehension, relying instead on parroting that which you have been lied to about, but as with most things you seem to beleive in, it does not actually serve you well or act in your own self interest, onlt the interests of your chosen masters.
and there are these other more-than-troubling-to-you things we call facts:

The problem, of course, is that there is no such plan. It’s a right-wing myth that has been making the rounds for months, and to which the Republican National Committee has finally given its imprimatur.

At issue here is a U.N. initiative to implement its Millennium Goals on global poverty, which would, in fact, total $845 billion over 13 years — from industrialized nations across the globe.

The Congressional Budget Office did a cost-estimate analysis of Obama’s legislation, co-sponsored by Joe Biden, and found that U.S. responsibilities “would cost less than $1 million per year.”

I know Republicans can struggle with math, so I’ll make this one simple: $1 million is a lot less than $845 billion.

over and over your prove yourselves to be going into battle unarmed [or armed with only zell miller spitballs]. you are being used and you don't realize it. you are tools that your masters are wielding against you, yourselves.

[the frothings loons can't handle math or language skills, so everyone else is 'elite'. i'd rather be called 'elite' than ignorant]

More than 50 years ago, in the booklet entitled Religion Reaps the Whirlwind, Jehovah’s Witnesses exposed Christendom’s involvement with politics. What was said then applies with equal force today: “Honest investigation of the conduct of the religious clergy of all denominations will reveal that the religious leaders of all ‘Christendom’ are participating with keen interest in the politics of ‘this present evil world’ and are dabbling in its mundane affairs.” Back then the Witnesses castigated Pope Pius XII for his concordats with Nazi Hitler (1933) and Fascist Franco (1941), as well as for the pope’s exchange of diplomatic representatives with the aggressor nation Japan in March 1942, just a few months after the infamous Pearl Harbor attack. The pope failed to heed James’ warning: “Adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God.”—James 4:4.

Talk about not reading! The report refers to the administrative cost not the actual program. Can't you even do the simplest math!! 2.6 billion people times 120 dollars a year (10 dollars per month) comes to 312 BILLION!! jeepers! Thats just sending cash. If we send food clothing and medical supplies AND pay for the shipping AND pay the people AND the Trucks AND the security AND well you get the idea. 845 Billion ....People that is just the down payment. There is no point arguing with a socialist because the real world in not something they understand.
