The JJ Kelly Indians Carry On Tradition - Those boys from Wise can play baseball!
The Indians became the first baseball team from Southwest Virginia since 2001 to win a state championship, when they posted a 14-9 come-from-behind win over Essex in the finals of the VHSL Group A state baseball tournament at Radford University.(LINK)
Congratulations on bringing the title home!
Regions A and B had combined to win the last six Group A state baseball titles. However, Kelly brought the title back to the area on Saturday.

Indeed. The tradition is admirable. JJ Kelly has claimed nine state baseball titles.
It was the ninth state baseball title in school history for Kelly as the 2008 version of the Indians join the 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1988, 1989, 1991 and 1998 teams as Group A’s best.
The 81, 82, 83 seasons, the Doug Bates era, are years I will never forget. Hell, I watched a helicopter hover a few feet over the field at Wise, drying the field. That is some serious High School Baseball.
