Jim Gilmore, Veteran - Mark Warner Stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night..
The Democrats made military service a major issue in the Allen/Webb battle. Before that they questioned President Bush and his service. They are quiet on that subject this time around.
Jim Gilmore's military experience is impressive. Mark Warner did not serve. Does it matter? To me it does. I know for a fact many others feel the same way as I do. Jim Gilmore's record shows -
After high school, he (Gilmore) became the first in his family to attend college and was accepted at the University of Virginia where he elected to study in the field of foreign policy.
Upon graduation, Jim Gilmore volunteered for the U.S. Army and won honors after completing training at the Army Intelligence School and Defense Language Institute.
He was then assigned to the 650th Military Intelligence Group. Serving in Germany during the Vietnam War and fluent in German, Jim Gilmore played an important role in counter-intelligence work safeguarding the security of American bases in Europe.
He is the recipient of the Joint Services Commendation Medal for his service to NATO.(LINK)
There is no comparing Gilmore's experience on military issues and foreign policy with Mark Warner. Except for the Holiday Inn Express, Warner has no experience in these matters. Military Service and the knowledge it provides - Another reason to support Jim Gilmore.
