John Hager VS Jeff Frederick For RPV Chair-Round One
I'm Not Emeril has a good post about this. Alton compares the resumes of both men in detail and concludes:
"My conclusion? In a perfect world Jeff Frederick would be our new Chairman. Then, in that perfect world, Jeff's first two acts would be to fire Executive Director Charlie Judd (and his son, the contractor), and immediately hire John Hager as Executive Director, a position his background is much more suitable for."
His decision is based logic and the resumes, and on the one thing many Republicans hold against Hagar...Charlie Judd. There is a bitterness in the mouths of many republicans over this and I think it will take new leadership to advance the party.
The RPV has problems and there is no denying that. The current leadership has left many candidates and members feeling left out. Campaign needs have not been met, local party foolishness like the Tazewell Lock Out, etc. I know of many people, my self included, who would love to get involved, but battling the "establishment" keeps them away. If they keep heading down this road it will lead to defeat.
The party needs a chairman who knows what the candidates need. A chairman that will connect and unify grassroot workers who in reality win elections. Someone to unify the party and bring in new voices. Paul Harris is that man. I bet you weren't expecting that. I will stop there and conclude that between Hagar and Frederick, I will chose Frederick.
