How Wise County Residents Feel About The New Power Plant
A wonderful letter to the editor
To the Editor:
In response to those “smart” environmentalists and the like, I would like to tell them all to leave the business of Southwest Virginia to the people who work and live in the area.
People in this part of the world may talk a little funny, but are by no means ignorant or uneducated. We are not like little children that cannot grasp complex concepts. We are fully capable of making decisions that are the best for us, utilizing the land and natural resources that God has blessed us with.
From numerous press reports, the majority of people in the area, including elected officials, desire to have the new power plant in Virginia City. The concept of our government is to allow the voice of different views, regardless of their context or agenda. However in the end, majority rules. The majority has spoken loud and clear.
I suggest to Mr. John Bolton, in particular, that he either come back to Southwest Virginia or shut the hell up and leave our business to us.
His energies would be best spent to petition his elected officials in California to stem the growing epidemic of illegal immigration.
I speak as a private citizen only, and in no way represent the views of my employer, Equitable Resources.
Doug Powers
Norton
Amen brother.
