The theft of mining cable is a age old practice among thieves. The copper cored cable trades for big dollars at any salvage. Laws have been in place to reduce this practice for a few years. This story had a new twist.
Deputies said Monday they had been investigating a theft at the business when they noticed a large pallet of insulating mining cable. Two large boxes of cleaned copper-containing for that 2,800 pounds of product-also were discovered.
In addition, investigators found several bronze markers from cemetery headstones. Deputies warned other dealers not to purchase copper or grave markers from unauthorized dealers. Link(Bold print added by Kilo)
What a shame. Stealing grave markers? I don't know what repulses me more, the thieves or the salvage company who bought the markers. This could be a organized effort but I figure it was a smelly hippie needing a pill. I guess I better take a ride up to my family cemetery.
