George Allen-Senate Economic Competitiveness Caucus
I have been a member of The Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the National Association of Industrial Technology for years. Senator George Allen is leading the way to keep America's manufacturers the best in the world. Allen has announced the launch of the Senate Economic Competitiveness Caucus. The caucus aims to keep America on top of manufacturing through a nine point plan as follows. From The KTM
•Working toward comprehensive energy legislation to address the shortage of reliable domestic energy.
•Improving Health Savings Accounts, which are tax-sheltered nest eggs to cover out-of-pocket medical costs.
•Supporting free trade agreements that tear down barriers to American products and services, and enforcing trade rules.
•Supporting legislation to crack down on counterfeiting of U.S. I.P. products, illegally subsidized exports, currency manipulation, and extensive market access barriers.
•Advocating and introducing legislation to improve math and science education (kindergarten through undergraduate).
•Developing and introducing legislation to make permanent tax relief enacted since 2001.
•Advancing legislation to enact a permanent and strengthened research and development tax credit.
•Supporting increased funding for federal science programs and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program.
•Encouraging initiatives to provide for a more rapid domestic deployment of broadband, and opposing taxes and regulations that hinder broadband deployment.
Allen's plan drew praise from National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the nation's largest industrial trade association. This is just another example of the great leadership of Sen Allen.
