Sago mine survivor Randal McCloy Jr. is not in a coma

According to this report Randal McCloy Jr is not in a coma.

"He is sedated in an attempt to keep him comfortable," Dr. Richard Shannon said on "The Early Show" on CBS. "But it is difficult to know how much neurological function he has. "

Shannon said that McCloy opens his eyes and bites down on a medical tube inserted down his throat, all signs that he is not in a coma. It is unclear whether or not he has suffered any brain damage, and doctors will monitor him over the next few days.

I dont know if this is good or bad. It is incredible that he has survived, and it will be even more incredible if he recovers.

Fox News is saying he IS in a coma. The family is saying one thing, the AP is saying something else. Is anything about this story correct?
